What a hidden unassuming GEM, right in the middle of Franklin Square! This restaurant is family…read moreowned/run and has been in business for about 2 years. The restaurant is smallish and can probably seat up to 18ppl. This is a unique Harbin restaurant (the Capital region of a Providence in Northeast China). This authentic cuisine is hard to find; even in Flushing, Queens! On their store awning, it states "We Make Real Chinese Food".... They ain't kidding!! Note: Closed on Tuesdays! We went for lunch on a Saturday, and the restaurant was full of Asian people. There was a steady flow of Asians the entire 2.5 hrs we were there! (Yes, we had a leisurely 2.5 hr lunch; catching up with friends from out of town. lol) Our menu (shared by 4 adults, 1 child): -- House Special Dumplings ($18/12pcs): we ordered these boiled. Tasty; especially with the chili sauce and vinegar. -- Sauteed Tofu Sheet w.Chili Peppers $18: traditional Northeast China dish. Good but would have been better with more chili peppers. We added chili oil for an extra kick. -- Double Cooked Pork w.Sweet & Sour Sauce $20: Excellent dish! Preparation is very unique! There was no actual sweet & sour "sauce" but rather, the sweet & sour condiments were cooked into the batter of the pork. Loved this dish! Get this! -- Mala Lamb Ribs $28: Another Excellent dish! The spicy and numbing Mala taste was obvious without being overly spicy. Great flavors, Great texture. Get this! -- Pork Fried Noodles $15: All noodles are hand-pulled on-site, with noodle chefs having over 20 years of experience. This dish was made with just ONE very long noodle! Served with a pair of scissors. lol Great texture, and soooo satisfying! Even better with some chili oil! This had limited protein but a good dish nonetheless. -- Northeastern Style Braised Pork Elbow $36: Excellent dish! Huge portion. Perfectly braised, fall-off-the bone deliciousness. It was slightly salty, so definitely eat this with some rice. Get this! -- Rice ($2/bowl): entrees do NOT come with rice, so order on the side. -- Condiments: on each table, there is a condiments tray consisting of chili oil, vinegar, soy sauce, and salt/pepper. Definitely try their chili oil and vinegar. This really enhanced the flavors of the food. But some of the dishes didn't need condiments at all, and were terrific as served. Customer service was so warm, welcoming and friendly! They are happy to answer any questions you may have, and offered great suggestions. So, if you've never had Harbin Cuisine before, peruse the 6 page menu and ask questions before ordering! Lots of great dishes on their menu! Parking: street parking is available (in front and on the side road). They do have a small parking lot in back but spots are limited since it's a shared lot. Looking forward to a return visit to explore their menu. What a treat!! Thanks to Y&Z for a wonderful 1st experience at your restaurant!

There is a certain taste to lzbns which is described as "xian", and this soup has it. The pork sauerkraut dumplings were also great, as a Northeastern Chinese (Harbin) restaurant, the dumplings were as chonky as I expected with great wrapper texture. They give free pickled veg (pickled with Sichuan peppercorns!) and watermelon as well. Staff was attentive, I came on a Sunday dinner 630pm, was quiet, mostly takeout orders. Wonderful restaurant, definitely eat in if you can for the freshest experience.

We…read moreorder the small manto dumplings, a mixed flat samosa appetizer, and four kebab entrees to share. The dumpling dough were similar in flavor and texture to pelmeni but were flatter like ravioli. They were smothered in sauce. Samosas were thin and crispy. I preferred the manto, but both are good picks depending on what you're looking for. For kebabs, I tried the lamb, ground beef, and chicken. One of the mixed plates also came with a lamb shank. All of the meat was well seasoned and flavorful. Most pieces were juicy. I wouldn't have categorized any bites as dry, but some bites were juicier than others. The entrees were platted over basmati rice with carrots and raisins. They came with a white sauce, a green sauce, and a red sauce. Green and red sauce were mildly spicy. Also some simple salad with the entrees. They have a lot of seating indoors and seemed to be hosting a small party when I arrived for pick up.

We dined in, and the vibe is casual, comfortable, and welcoming. We started with the Bolani and Manto. The Bolani came out hot and crisp with a generous filling. The Manto were tender, well-seasoned, and the sauce complemented the dumplings instead of drowning them. After that we ordered the Badenjan Borani, and it stole the show. The eggplant was silky and deeply smoky, balanced perfectly with sauce and yogurt. We finished it fast, and then ordered another at the end. The chicken and lamb kabab were juicy, flavorful, and grilled right--no dryness, no bitter char. Kabli Palow was also excellent: fragrant basmati rice with carrots and raisins that stayed balanced (not overly sweet), paired with tender lamb. We finished with chai and a smooth, lightly sweet milk-pudding dessert. Portions are big, prices are fair, and the owner and staff are kind and welcoming without hovering. We left full and already planning our next order.

The decor is really nice, the space is super clean, and the service was amazing, fast, attentive, and very organized. They offer a great all-you-can-eat deal, and the meats were delicious and packed with flavor. Everything came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. There are so many options to choose from, including an awesome variety of sides. We tried the fried rice and the noodles and both were so good. I 100% recommend this spot and would absolutely come back.

My plate came out hot, but my rice came out lukewarm. It wasn't hot at all, which was strange. Then, another plate ordered came half hot, meaning half of the plate was cold. How does this even happen? So we had both sent back to ask for actual, hot food. I'm unsure if they cooked the rice more or just microwaved it, as it was more on the mushy side and tasted a bit "burnt" when it came back. The other plate did come back hot this time. The food itself was just alright. I've went to other hibachi spots where the food was more flavorful, the sauce slaps and it actually came out hot. The service was alright as well, but it was a bit strange that we somehow were served warm and cold dishes. We had drinks as well, the LIIT was good and the margarita was too. In total, we paid about $140 for 4 drinks and two hibachi entrees. Except, nothing about this experience felt like it was worth $140. I'm glad we didn't take up their offer to do BBQ or we would've paid way more for a mid experience. I wouldn't come again. There's way better out there and for way better prices.

I was surprised they didn't have chive cakes on the menu. That's always my favorite thing to order for an appetizer and most Thai places. We ordered a mango salad. I asked for them to do it mild, but it was still too spicy for us. We got shrimp pad Thai, which was really yummy. We actually love that. We also ordered the cod in a coconut sauce. That was very delicious. The cod was a very small portion. We also got an order of Massaman beef. that was very good too. If I'm ever in this area again, I would definitely eat here.

If I lived in the area I'd be there a couple of times a month. My friends live some towns over but both said they'd return for sure. The hostess/waitress was very nice, easy to speak with, fully attentive, not obtrusive, and fully knowledgeable about the menu. Two of us had noodles, one had curry. I ordered Pad Thai asking for it to be somewhat spicy and spice was added perfectly for my taste. The curry with mock duck was very spicy. (We all enjoyed it though.) I think the spice was infused in the mock duck. Some folks may want to ask that to be mild. For desert we had the coconut ice cream and all loved it. I asked about it and learned the chef makes it. It's not often I ask to pass my compliments to the chef; this was one time I did with emphasis! We were having an early lunch. I think we were quite lucky to sit so quickly.
