We've visited this spot several times. The location is convenient if we're going to be in Glendale. In addition, we appreciate that you're able to get seated quickly versus Raffi's that sometimes has a long wait especially on the weekends. Food is decent. There are more choices here than Raffi's which we all appreciate. For a family, you can order their family meal which has all of the meat varieties that you could possibly want. It also gives you the opportunity to try them all. With that said, it would be nice if you didn't have to pay for the bread basket which has a few pieces of bread for the whole table to share. Service here is pretty quick. You get your food quickly however, the waitresses tend to rush you through your meal. The last time we were there (this past weekend), they kept coming to our table wanting to bus it while we were talking to family who was visiting from out of state. Then, once we paid our bill (again being rushed by our waitress), we asked for water. She brought a pitcher of water and set it on the table and walked away. It would have been nice if that didn't happen but okay. Weekends they have live music. Ask for a table outside if you want to converse with the people you're having dinner with. In Armenian we call this a xorovats (barbecue). This is my second time visiting Karas although it was a long time ago I was here last. As an Armenian-American I have to say that this meat was delicious and up to par. Of course it doesn't beat my grandfather's kebab! This assortment of meats really filled the four of us up and we had lots of leftovers. The meats included beef, chicken and lamb. The veggies were just enough and of course we had to order plenty of lavash on the side to eat with this. The sauces are to die for so please try them all! The inside is very stylish and the walls highlight Armenian historical figures which was a nice touch. Our service was fast and truly the price was not bad for being CA and this much food. Today I ordered the small family meal it feeds 3 people for sure! Beef, lamb chops, chicken and pork ribs. Rice, hummus and veggies! We also got a margarita pizza and a pitcher of sangria. We loved our Sunday brunch. Sofia was our server and she greeted us and offered to serve us right away. We got a bottle of sweet cherry compote. It was delicious and syrupy. First time being here at first I was skeptical I didn't know what to expect. When our server arrived his name is Michael. He was very friendly and helpful, he recommended we get the BBQ set, the menu said it is serves 5 to 6 people but we were actually nine and we didn't even finish it all we still had some left over to go. The lamb chops was tender and perfect. The pork ribs was so tender and flavorful perfect. All the lulae were so good and perfect. The whole barbecue set came with a lot of appetizers and sides so we only ordered an extra Lahmajoun and we were so happy that we got it because it was very good. We also like this place a lot cuz there is a singer who had one of the most beautiful voice we thought it was a radio playing but she was right there live the Ambiance was perfect it was not too noisy we were able to chat and have a decent conversation without yelling. I am the one who loves the food I can understand. Meet and veggies -- that's all I need. And "Karas" is the place I go really often. They never overthink the food. They do care about the ingredients. They do have the traditional approach. I also like the space itself as there is quite a lot of room for a lot of people. I see families with kids every time I come. "Karas" is truly a family place. The atmosphere is as if you visit your relatives or friends and it makes me feel relaxed. Actually I can't help saying the staff recognizes you every time you come so you really feel at home and you really feel valued. My favorite server Anastasia is so charming and she does really know the menu and can recommend you the plate you'll never regret. We had such a bizarre experience here. When we asked if we could keep a menu at the table to look over in case we wanted to order more, the server gave us this condescending response: "Make sure you leave the menu to the side and not actually eat on the menu." It felt so unnecessary and honestly insulting. We weren't being difficult; it was a simple question. Instead of being accommodating, the server made us feel like we were being talked down to. The ambience was nice, the servers are nice, and the food was great. Food: I ordered the Margherita Pizza and it was nice. Good portion, so after eating 3 slices, I was able to eat some for dinner. The tomato sauce and basil were a good mix. The cheese felt like 1 nice glob of cheese every time I bit into it, which was interesting. Alongside with the bread they offer when you sit, the flavors was delicious and paired well. Service: No complaints, they came at nice times. It took us awhile to get our check, but my co-worker and I weren't in a rush, so it was alright. Location: It's close to the Americana and all the restaurants, so feel free to park in all the adjacent parking structures or street parking.
