Delicious food, one of the good restaurants in glendale. It seems they were a bit short staffed but we were still served nicely. We want to go back and try every dish next year ! I'm also thinking of ordering their family dish to bring to a party. I believe that's the way to have the opportunity to taste most of their meat read more

We ordered food from this place about 6 months ago and the food was horrible. We decided to give another try and went to the restaurant. The watermelon had all kind of insects on it and when I told the waiter he wasn't even sorry about it. It was probably sitting there for days. The ajarski was burnt it was black I don't understand how you serve burnt food. The fish was ok but made us sick. My sons burger was all bloody even though we asked for well done. I try to write good reviews but honestly they need a lot of improvement. My 3 stars are for location only. read more

Karas - Armenian Near Me - Glendale, California

I always wanted to try this restaurant since their opening, very clean with an indoor area and a sidewalk patio where you can sit outside and have a drink and a nice talk. The Food was delicious but the service/staff was very rude, they should be more friendly to their costumers specially if it's a brand new restaurant, I've been reading past reviews on this location and it seems everyone had the same issue like I did. I feel it's a situation where the restaurant manager should step in and talk to their employees about how to properly serve their clients. read more

I would love to see this place succeed!! They have to get things fixed first, their service is really slow yet fancy with the calling button on each table. They need to Keep up consistency when it comes to quality and freshness. We had the same dish twice on different occasions, one time it was really fresh and the next time we couldn't eat it. I hope they succeed since the concept is good. Good luck guys! UPDATE: Hubs and I gave Karas second chance and oh boy the food was excellent!!!!! Service was fast with fresh and delicious food! We ordered sepas soup for kido, pork ribs dish and pork shush kabob wrap. Everything was so tasty! We can't wait to go back! Good job Karas! read more

I ate here the other day and had their $16 western burger, it tasted like a burger made by subway. Bland with very little taste. The salad and fries were great but i would rather go to in n out. read more

Karas - Lahmajun and greek salad - delicious!! - Armenian Near Me - Glendale, California

We had the Margherita Pizza and Tabouleh. Both delicious and fresh! Home made taste ... we will be back. Great service and clean!

Had a great lunch here today. Baglan was really helpful and prompt. The borscht was as good as I remember it being last time (which was fantastic). I also had a grilled khachpuri which is a mixture of cheeses and tomatoes wrapped in Armenian flat bread and grilled. Really tasty, and even more food than I needed. It was a bit saltier than I'd expected but still quite enjoyable. Nice clean environment, elegant space, and a convenient location by lots of parking. Oh, and it was quite reasonably priced. $13 plus tip for the soup, sandwich, and a soda (with free refills). read more

Just try ,but not same like in Armenia Staff is friendly and quick Price is like everywhere American standard read more

Service is just plain awful here. You can't just have good food to make up for the horrible service. Waited 90 mins for the food that they kept saying would come, but never did. Then they try to beg you to stay and say they'll make it up to you. But at that point, it's just not worth it. You'll probably have to wait some more. read more

Came here with my mom and sister after shopping. We were looking for a place with a patio and this was right across the street from the Americana. I hate leaving bad yelp reviews but the service was not that great. We ordered hummus as an appetizer and we got that before our waters. We even got our main course before we got our waters! It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to deliver drinks to a table. They have service call buttons on the tables but I think the servers rely too much on it. My sister ordered the Mac n cheese and my mom and I ordered burgers (garden burger for me). The burgers were okay. The pickles were warm and gross. The Mac n cheese was really dry and bland. The only good thing I liked was the hummus. Our server was really nice though, she apologized for our poor service and apologized for the waters being delivered late. I tipped her cash since she looked like she was the only one trying hard to work. Two different servers/food runners ran food to our table and not one of them noticed that we didn't have any drinks. Overall I don't think I would come back. read more

We were there at around 2pm so most of the lunch crowd had dispersed. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose the former. The interior is spacious with high ceilings and a simplistic but modern decor and comfortable seating. Restrooms were also well maintained. A very friendly server/hostess sat us and attended to us. This is our first time to the restaurant so she took the time to answer our questions regarding the menu. They have a Happy Hours lunch menu which runs from 12pm-5pm from Monday's to Friday's. There are 2 sets to choose from which will include a Main Course, Salad and Drink. Happy Lunch (is what they call the combo) N1 is $11.90 and Happy Lunch N2 is $9.90. The portions were quite generous. We ordered the beef lula wrap and chicken lula wrap. These are basically kebabs in wraps. The meat is deliciously marinated. For the Salad, we chose the Summer Salad and Hummus. The Summer Salad was a large plate of cucumbers and various bell peppers and was big enough for 2-3 people to share. The Hummus was also a generous portion although it's not served with any pita bread. For drinks, we selected the Tan, which is a salty yogurt drink. And because we checked in on Yelp, we were entitled to a free dessert and selected to have the Pear Tart which was served with a generous scoop of ice cream. If you're not a fan of Armenian food, no worries, they do have burgers and fries, as well as pizza, on their menu. Karas is suitable for families with kids as well as for business luncheons. Karas, this is our Wish List for your restaurant: Would it be possible to serve your hummus with a few pieces of flatbread or some pita chips? We would also love it if your wraps were served with a roasted tomato on the side too. We shall be back! read more

Karas - Borscht with Meat - Armenian Near Me - Glendale, California

We ordered through ubereats. Meat was unfresh with weird smell, vegetables comes uncooked and cold!! Highly unrecommend this place

This is probably the closest thing you will get to an Armenian dining experience. What I loved most was that I felt like I was experiencing Armenia in the heart of Glendale. The ambiance is warm and welcoming and they even have cool buttons on the tables to buzz the waiters. Today was my first time here but definitely not the last. I ordered borsh and the lamb wrap with taziki on the side which was heavenly! My husband and mother in law were equally impressed with how delicious the food was and how wonderful the service was! Maran was our server and she was extremely tentative and helpful with the menu and all of our needs. She was very kind and had great suggestions, we will definitely be back to visit her soon! If you haven't yet tried this place it's a must!!!!!!! read more

Was here yesterday with friends so this is a brief group review. Good news: Great salads and Pizza. Nice ambiance. Diverse menu and welcoming staff. I was very hopeful when I tried this place but all was in vain. My family ordered chicken Lula, lamb, BLT and mushrooms(which did not arrived). So disappointing. Which was still in the bill, I will not pay for something I did not eat. Service is terrible. Looking around, they seem to have enough staff to run the place. I guess they don't know the term customer service. They should change their shirt slogan from "we cook with love" to "we don't care". The guy beside me was also complaining about a dish that did not arrived as well... Lol sounds familiar. Like I said, they don't care. I wish there is a zero rating, i will never return and tell all my friends, families and network of people. As we are about to leave, the manager approached me and offered desserts. Apologized for the inconvenience and explained the situation. Im glad that they made an effort to fix the problem. From 1 star, I decided to change to 2 stars. I will think about this experience and will probably give them another chance. read more

Not the typical Armenian restaurant in Glendale. Been here twice now for lunch. Food is above average and staff is friendly. Decor is modern inside and kept clean . They bring out these fryed lavash chips before your order which are seasoned with something amazing that are very addicting. I'll be back here again but my advice would be to get rid of the call buttons for the staff. (I never hit the button they did keep checking on me though, I just think they are weird ) read more

TL;DR: One of the worst meals I've had in a long time, and at $16 plus $2 tip, that's a big disappointment. FULL REVIEW: Went in for lunch and ordered the chicken breast with potatoes and roasted vegetables, with a Mexican Coke. Several problems: 1. The food was bad. Really bad. Everything was bland. The food was so bad that I barely ate any of it, and I haaaate not cleaning my plate. I couldn't stomach the chicken and the rest was underwhelming. In fact, I feel a little queasy right now, in spite of only eating a little bit. 2. Ignore the photos in their menu - the food will not look like what you see in the menu, at all. They have a disclaimer in their menu that food may not appear "exactly" the same but come on - what you advertised and what you delivered were radically different things. In the photo on their menu, each side of the plate is lined with eight sliced potatoes (four on each side)...when my plate arrived, only one side had sliced potatoes and it was only four, tiny slices. Much smaller than the slices depicted in the photo. Since we're keeping track, that's less than half of what your menu photo promised me. You also promised two large, delicious looking, golden-brown chicken breasts, but what arrived were two small, nearly burnt, sad-looking chicken breasts. The menu promised roasted vegetables, but what came was a pile of vegetables that were half-roasted, half raw. In other words, the photo was absolutely useless in determining what I'd be getting for my $16 plus tip. Misleading at best, downright false advertising at worst. 3. I have to address the chicken again. The chicken was more than bad. It was terrible. It was dry, tough and I don't know what seasoning they use for it, but it tasted like ass. I normally try not to sound gross when describing food in these reviews, but it literally tasted like what butt tastes like. Yes, I know what butt tastes like. You would too, if you enjoyed life. 5. The pièce de résistance is that the food took almost a half hour to get to me, in spite of there being a full staff and only four other tables with guests. I definitely don't mind waiting for restaurant food, but for how bad this food was, that wait now seems ridiculous. 6. Oh, one more thing. They give you a tablet at the end of your meal that asks you to rate your visit and leave feedback. I rated the overall visit 2 stars, but gave the staff a 5, and then I tried to write the issues I had with the food in the suggestions section. I had four or five sentences written and the app closed on me. I opened it again and went through the entire process a second time, and again, in the same section, while writing about my issues, the app closed. OK, I guess I'll just have to write it all out here on Yelp. One bright spot was the waitstaff - he was great - attentive, friendly and did all the right things waiters are supposed to do. Normally I give restaurants at least three tries before I forego them forever, but after this meal, I'm not so sure I want to. read more

Karas - Left: menu photo. Right: the food I received (minus 4 small potatoes and some vegetables I ate before I remembered to take a picture). - Armenian Near Me - Glendale, California

Definitely disappointed with the food experience at this restaurant. All other aspects were great so I gave it two stars. But when it's all said we ultimately come to these places to eat so the food should be higher on their list of priorities. I didn't read the Yelp reviews before visiting, which if I did I probably would have never walked into this place. I decided to eat here because the restaurant is clean, looks modern with a cultured appeal. Also the food selection and pictures looked great. I order grilled chicken item that was suppose to come with a side of scallops. Well fries came out instead. Now they politely showed me the menu where it states items may come out differently. Well if the server knows this then they should explain this to the guest immediately. Not only after the question comes up. The staff was better than average. My only critique was that none of them looked happy to be working but they still carried on with their work and made sure my experience was OK. This restaurant definitely has potential but it seems like it will need to start from the top and management will need to increase the communication between cooks and line staff and knowing what is available or not available in menu. Also have front end Staff smile and interact once in awhile with guests. It does go a long way. read more

Worst experience ever at any restaurant. Those call buttons never worked. The wait was long for food that was barely edible, Waitress kept bringing us other people's orders. Never got silverware or napkins so I had to get them myself. After several more mix-ups and apologies, we finally got something. They oddly served us slices of plain bread without any dip. The stir fry beef & vegetables was barely cooked and flavorless (no salt, no spices). They left the door open so all of the cold air could freeze us. The only good thing about that place is that the decor inside was good. I will stick with Moon Mart Kabob for real Mediterranean Armenian food & service. read more

The food is not tasty. Change the chef! The tables are dirty. The staff are friendly and lovely. Nice decor. But to return again in that place, there is no desires. UPD : What do you mean onions? Finally - I like to give places benefit of a doubt, especially new places need time to establish. Visited five times before deciding what to write. Food - good variety, reasonable prices, tastes good(a bit on oily side), have tried several different items, pork ribs are great and of course Ajarakan(dough is Service - can't complain After giving this place many benefit of doubts We have visited Karas maybe dozen times now. Every time we go there is a mishap: service has become worse, one time we were totally ignored for about 15 minutes and we finally decided to leave and no one including the manager even bothered to approach us. Today we went again ordered spas and margarita pizza as usual. Apparently Until today I didn't know that margarita pizza has regular pizza sauce. I asked the waiter why there is a regular pizza sauce, he checked back with chef and told us that's how they have always been making it, and it wasn't 1st or 2nd time we had margarita pizza at Karas. Then he just said that he is just a waiter and can't do anything. REALLY, does the management even care about the complaints they get, most likely NOT. read more

I really can't understand why there are so many low ratings for this restaurant. I had a completely opposite experience. The food was fantastic and the menu has a variety of different options. We had the pleasure of trying a couple of different vegetarian options, and my friend ordered a chicken dish. The foods were well made and the service was solid. I think if they reduced the number of items offered on the menu, it will help people order more specialty items without being confused about all the categories. read more

Bland, bland, f**king bland! The service was pretty dismal. The wait staff clearly didn't want to be there, didn't have a great grasp of the English language, and were slow and inattentive. The only redeeming quality was the button on the table to call a waiter. _ The food was not worth the money. Their chef has clearly never been introduced to salt, pepper and spices. Everything we ate was extremely bland and lacked flavor. And the menu is an absolutely freaking nightmare to read. Ps. If you do end up eating here, avoid the lemonade. It should be against the law to call what they served us lemonade. Overall, we went in with low expectations. And the place couldn't live up to even that. Needless to say, we won't return, and I'll be surprised if they manage to stay open much longer with things as they are. read more

We passed by and tried their sample. The chicken Lule was the best and the lady outside was really nice. So we went in for a meal. To our surprise, the food was really good and the price is affordable. The portion size is good and is not overwhelmingly big like other Kabab places. The pork rib is really tender and juicy. It's healthy for a person who work out regularly. The only thing to improve on will be have more waitresses and check on water more regularly. But waitresses here are really nice! read more

I just had an absolutely refreshing lunch. Fresh food, tasty (and as a vegetarian) I ate well. I enjoyed tzatziki sauce with bread, fresh salsa with homemade chips and my meal was the salmon burger (just as fresh and flavor able). I ate on the patio, which was scenic and peaceful at the same time. The plates are nice portions (I have leftovers). The service was friendly and modern - there's a communication button you push to communicate your needs in doors. They were a bit short handed yet I trust they'll have more employees with their great business - it's a great place to grab lunch, evening dining and they serve breakfast too. read more

After my original review, the manager of Karas reached out to me to give them another try and that they were actively trying to fix everything as a new restaurant. I did and was very pleasantly surprised! On arrival we were greeted instantly and the entire staff was very friendly. The service was very prompt and attentive. The food was delicious (we got the dip trio, caprese salad, pan roasted lamb chops and trout). After our meal, the manager came up and sat with us to see how everything was and see if there was anything else he could do.
