    Chicken 65 with rumali

Loved the ambiance and service. The food came out fast and was delicious. We ordered papdi chaat , pani puri and chicken 65 with rumali roti. I loved the paapdi chaat but the 65 was good too. Customer service is pretty good too.

We tried the Bun Maska, Zafrani Chai, Dahi Puri, and Sandwich. The food was good, but the portion sizes were definitely on the smaller side. The service could use some improvement, it took quite a while for our order to arrive, and once it did, we felt the staff was indirectly rushing us to finish so they could seat the next guests. The ambiance and decor were nice and created a pleasant atmosphere, but the overall experience was a bit let down by the service and portion sizes.

Update: Went for the second time tonight and this place is now my go to spot for Chaat!! Kush, the guy who mans the chaat cart absolutely knows what's what. The flavors, ingredients, the chutneys and the perfect assemblage of it all. Never thought a chai cafe would serve such amazing chaat but here we are. Got the dahi puri and sev puri, and both were wow. Also had the chicken 65 and other than the fact that it was very yummy, the portion was huge! Finished with the bun maska, which along with the Karak chai could and should be reason enough to go there again.

Loved this concept of people catching up with chai. We got the Karak chais here. We also wanted the ginger tea but it was unavailable. They have a bunch of bites to eat. They offer cookies to dunk in and have samosas and wraps. Would love to try the food here next time.

New chai place in Fremont! And they have live Hindi music! Chai and snacks are amazing too. Service is quick and the place is decently clean

I heard good things about this spot and finally gave it a try. The space is a decent size and the Irani Chai was ok comparable to other good places ive visited. However, the biscuit was out of this world. The samosas were tasty, and the Bhel Puri (chaat) was absolutely awesome. While the chicken biryani was just okay, ill definitely be back to explore more of the chaat menu and try the ginger n lemon tea.

So we used to come to the old place which was tandoori and curry and now finally gave a shot to this new one "karak chail". They been advertising this place for few months now. Interior has been revamped to make more room for fast customers to drink and leave. The menu is mix of food and drinks. Limited drinks surprisingly. The place has music so bit dissatisfied with that. The karak chai itself was a bummer. Its masala chai. Karak chai should not have masala. The irani chai was better. We got the dum chicken biryani to test how it was compared to prior. Im not exactly sure if its same owner as before, but the sad part is for dine in they served the hot food in plastic containers as if it was to go. We came for dine in and serving in plastic utensils, plates and containers. Biryani rice didnt have much flavor, ok they provided 2 pieces of chicken (one thigh and one leg) the chicken 65 which isnt my speciality but my friends said if was good. The dum biryani was not dum, just a play on name. More like chicken pulao with food coloring. Its like an attempt to copy deccan morsels with more seating tbh. The chai at bundoo khan or pakwan is better. Also for dine in, the chai cups are you plastic to go and the size of cups (8oz) was not enough for $4 a masala/karak chai. But folks in bay area dont care for quality and will pay so yea lol The gulab jamun came cold. Not even warmed up. Highly disappointed. Gotta repeat again: the name of the place is karak chai and that itself was not karak chai

Loved the ambience and service. At our first visit, we tasted the Irani chai, Black Forest Cake, Osmania biscuit and the papri chat. Osmania bis: 5/5 (freshly baked) Irani chai: 4/5 Black Forest Cake: 3.5/5 Papri Chat: 5/5 We will surely come back again and again.

Really good place good to hang out. Good place to be get the chai I'm just gonna give them. Four star for their service was good. The only the problem the first week first two weeks actually the chai was really good. but now I go this week chai the quality was really down. Poor quality try look like they're using the old really disappointed if they want to keep running, they have to keep the chai same flavor I hope he is ridden my review and get working working on it chai because in Fremont there is there are more places to get the Chai so please make sure keep the same quality And there biscuit really really good must try

Nice ambiance! We just stopped for a quick tea break. Irani chai was great, but the Osmania Biscuit stole the show! The Black Forest cake was also more than decent. Can't wait to come back with a larger gang on the weekend nights :)

The chai was delicious! And the owner was very kind. A variety of snacks and desserts to choose from. I definitely want to come back with my friends.

For the entrees, we got a potlam goat biryani - a delicious biryani wrapped in a banana leaf served table side. We also got the Fish Pollichathu, a fish grilled with a tomato based topping that was wrapped in a banana leaf and served with a tapioca mash and rice. All the dishes were delicious. The portions are generous and we ended up with leftovers to take back home. We also received a complimentary gulab jamun creme brulee since I was part of their mailing list and a pistachio tiramisu to celebrate our special occasion. Casual fine dining. Decent seating, good for groups. Decent prices. ***FOOD: we tried a whole bunch of items- *crispy baby corn-3.5/5- very crispy with a sweet and tangy coating indicating liberal vinegar usage. *malai soy chaap: 3.5/5: excessive usage of malai(aka fat). Indulgent and decent enough for a small serving. *vellulli kaaram paneer-3/5- lacked salt. Paneer was softish but felt a bit chewy and hard in places. *black pepper mushroom curry- 4/5- this was my favorite dish that evening. The fragrant curry leaves, earthiness of the mushroom and the black pepper created an intoxicating combination. It was floating in excess oil but was lip smacking delicious. *chilli garlic Naan: 4.5/5: I normally don't rate naan as they are non descript but the version here was wonderful. Thin, not burnt on the downside and paired oh so well with the mushroom curry. *Egg biryani- 3.5/5- this was spicy rather than being flavorful. Since it was made with egg, I didn't mind the spice.

But the manner in which the order is taken and the way in which they bring out the sides, especially the salan for the biryani is definitely disappointing. We ordered two biryani's - an egg biryani and a chicken biryani and they brought a tiny bowl of salan, which all put together is 5 teaspoons for a table of four adults. Really!! Check 3 points: the food is tasty definitely!!! However, the only downside is that the paneer starter is not well marinated; so the masala was only on the top. The insides of the paneer was just flat and insipid!! Cleanliness is lacking, the dirty dishes are in a cart right by the booth that we sat at. So the stench was emanating. We had to ask for water twice when the jug was empty, so the keen sense of observation and customer service is lacking! Overall, a place you can go to perhaps once or twice, but don't expect good service. The food is definitely Yum.

What made the experience worse was the complete lack of an apology or any effort to make things right. Delays can happen in any restaurant, but good customer service means communicating with customers and showing that you value their time. Unfortunately, that didn't happen here. The food wasn't enough to make up for the poor service. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants that treat their customers with more respect. I won't be returning again and wont recommend others to this restaurant.
