THANK GOODNESS for Karai!!! Everything from the ambiance/decor, service, cleanliness, and of course the food was superb! We've been staying in Branson for the past week and we needed to eat something other than bbq, pizza, pancakes and burgers. We ordered: Jurassic Park Roll Karai ramen Old Skool ramen Cheeky ramen Every dish was delicious!!! My son said he could eat Karai for breakfast, lunch and dinner . The flavor of the soup was perfect, not bland and not overpowering. The noodles were tender and just right. The chasu pork was really good and the portions were just right too. For those who aren't used to paying $10-$12 for ramen, then it may seem pricey, but the owner explained to us that the bones used to make the broth are local and organic. It takes 10 hours to prepare the bone broth! One sip of the soup and you will taste the mm-mm-goodness! Karai is relatively new, opened in February, so try it out and hopefully you'll enjoy the ramen as much as we did. Compared to the ramen houses in Austin and California, Karai is easily 5 stars. If we lived in Springfield, we definitely would be regulars. We hope to come back soon! To the owner, general manager, waiter and host: Thank you for taking such good care of us! Kids enjoyed the mochi dessert and we were pleasantly surprised by the chasu bun. What a treat! God bless you all!! read more

We went on Saturday night and the place was packed! We decided to sit at the bar(which we got the seats right away). I ordered old skool ramen and my goal was to experience the most basic simple original dish, I guess I ordered the wrong thing? I had high expectation since this place has high reviews. I was pretty disappointed, the noodle was nice and chashu pork was great but the broth(which the most important for me) doesn't make me jump out of my seat. I was looking for that umami taste but the broth was too bland for me. Hand roll sushi was nice, takoyaki wasn't bad I wish they put more mayo and fish flake on it. Beside that the atmosphere was great read more

It is always amazing I do feel at times the price is more than it should be but it is well worth it considering they use allot of local ingredients and it is from scratch. Seriously tasty food. read more

My daughter asked me to pickup food from here...No regrets! It is delicious and placing a to go order on the phone was so easy.

I was greeted by the owner and she gave me chashu pork bun and it was perfectly cooked and the flavors were light and delicate. I ordered the Karai house ramen and ordered it extra spicy with ajitsuke tamago and the tonkotsu broth was lip smacking delicious and the six minute egg was perfection. I can officially say we have an actual ramen-ya in Springfield finally. I can't wait to try more menu items. The atmosphere is very nice and this would make a great date night! read more

What can I say, I LOVE GOOD RAMEN!!!! On a recent trip to Springfield MO, I brought my grandfather to try another new food as he calls them exotic but anything that he never tried before is that. He recently moved back here to be closer to his Son since he is getting up there in age will be 98 come Dec. We came right as they started serving dinner, which glad we did because they fill up fast, we were seated immediately and our server was very kind and patient when grandpa asked several questions. Finally he looks at me and tells me to order for him. We started off with several types of sushi & Sake, he really enjoyed the sushi but wasn't a fan of the sake, which is fine meant more for me. For our main meal we all had Ramen, Grandpa and I had Old Skool Ramen, My son had the Cheeky Ramen and my sister had Veggi Ramen with chicken. These bowls are huge and only ate half but Grandpa almost finished his bowl but took rest his home combined with what was left of mine. My son thought the bowls should been bigger, and I told him should of ordered extra noodles, My sister really enjoyed hers as well but took 1/2 it home. We also ordered one to go for my nephew who couldn't come with us and he really enjoyed his even though he had to heat it up after he got off work, it was gone in mere minutes lol The atmosphere is so relaxed and enjoyed the time we spent with having dinner with grandpa, the noise level wasn't bad at the time we went but by the time we were leaving it did get kinda of loud. I plan to visit again next time I make it to Springfield read more

I loved this place. Nice atmosphere and the ramen was bomb. Rolls were great too. I'll be back!

The ramen was delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. There is a good, quiet atmosphere.

Delicious ramen! Came to Springfield to enjoy the aquarium. Needed lunch afterwards and was craving ramen. Found this gem. My daughter and I both ordered ramen (old skool and Karai ramen) and it was some of the best we've had. Also ordered takoyaki and chicken karaage. Those were good too but the ramen, we couldn't stop slurping the broth. read more

The Old Skool Ramen is wonderful! I like mine with chicken and a spice level of 1 and add spinach. Plenty spicy for me! The service is impeccable. Pure comfort food!!! read more

Was so excited to try this place for ramen. We ordered two apple martinis very good but arrived after appetizers. I ordered the ramen bowl on a spice level of 0-3 and I ordered a 1 which was mild spice It came out way too spicy and I asked for another bowl. The waitress brought back more broth from the kitchen to add to the dish to dilute it .... I asked if I could get another one made without spice and she told me no! I added the broth. Didn't help. Sent it back. Manager should have come out but didn't. So I told them I wanted it off the bill. Ordered an omg and California roll Sushi arrived. No wasabi. Shrimp on omg roll did not taste good We won't be back. And I'm still hungry. read more

Ramen was tasty! Will definitely be going back for more. Sushi rolls were good too, but if you're in the mood for just sushi I would go to an actual sushi restaurant. They made for good appetizers lol Tempura cheesecake was great! Came with vanilla ice cream, topped with berries and chocolate sauce. read more

This fantastic ramen that won't dissapoint! The service was great, the servers were extremely knowledgable of the food, and the owners were very kind! Ok... this place really did exceed my expectations! The atmosphere was wonderful, the service (while hectic, since they just opened) was very good, and the food was phenomenal! My Lady Friend and I each got a different ramen and each were thrilled with our decisions! You can customize your bowl to the extent that it's absurd. My Lady Friend likes things a little more plain and I like to be a bit more entertained by the flavors. Also the hand rolls are fun and very tasty! Luckily, both our meals were pitch perfect! I know that the food is the most important thing, but the finishes, decor and lighting alone is worth stopping in for! At the risk of sounding out of touch, it's a very hip place! Definitely give it a shot! read more

Tried 2 sushi rolls, the California was good but as expected, the tuna roll was outstanding; great spicy topping. I ordered the Karai special and it did not disappointment. I got the #3 spicy option. Overall the food was great, but the real sell is the environment. Everything from start to finish lives in breeds culture and thoughtfulness read more

Went in with some friends for my first time. The atmosphere is really nice and there were a lot of people (generally a good sign). I had high expectations since I patron the owners other establishments. We ordered some appetizers and I got the Karai Ramen bowl with the seasoned egg. Both the appetizers were good. The Ramen was delicious. Very well seasoned and the 2/4 spiciness was exactly what I wanted. In the future I might skip the egg though, didn't really enhance the dish much. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars was the wait. We got there before the rush of people and still waited awhile for our food. Very excited to go back! read more

This place has a great vibe- really industrial look and feel. The employees are all incredibly accommodating and friendly. I got the veggie ramen with a level 2 heat; it was amazingly delicious. The broth was sooooo good and the noodles had a toothy quality instead of mushy. I highly recommend! read more

Ramen as good as any I've had. Service is always great, decor is cool, and I always leave full and with leftovers. Highly recommend!

Hands down the best ramen in Springfield. I plan on coming back regularly. The broth is amazing and you can tell takes hours to prepare. There is so much flavor in the broth. The vegetables are fresh and soft boiled eggs are perfectly made. I did order sushi and it was also very well done. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also very welcoming. Interesting decor with an industrial look. They also have a full bar but I didn't get any drinks. Staff was very attentive and ran well for only being open recently. Try this place as soon as possible! read more

This place is absolutely amazing. We drove an hour and half to try it and I'm so glad we did. They are better than most big city ramen places. Their sushi is fresh and the best I've had in all of Missouri. The wait staff is kind friendly and helpful. We went there not knowing they close after lunch and open again. We got there just as they were closing and they stayed open just for 2 people. The owner came over numerous times to ask how everything was. She was absolutely delightful. They also have real YUZU! We made a yuzu Arnold palmer and that was so good. I can't say enough good things about this place. I will definitely be going back as many times as I can. read more

Me and my husband were at Karai, a couple of weeks ago while driving cross-country. They have the best Ramen in the mid-west, hands down. Absolutely fantastic. First off, the overall aesthetic and vibe of the restaurant is amazing with fun music that's low enough so that one may have a conversation without raising their voice. Karai ramen and gyoza were very good. Hand rolls expensive for how small they are. Chocolate mousse cake was gross, like something they bought at the grocery store. I don't know what flavor the top part is but it was bad and the bottom was like flourless chocolate cake but very dry. read more

Great service and yummy food. Stopped here on a whim and so glad we did! Everything was very good.

Really enjoyed our first trip here. My husband had the Old School Ramen and he loved it especially the broth & pork in it. I have to eat gluten free and even though the Ramen isn't gluten free they were able to help me with ordering my meal. Yellow Tail Sushi was fresh &good but would like to have had gluten free soy sauce. The atmosphere was great too! We will go back for sure! read more

First time here. Nice decor and friendly staff. Drinks: wife had Pinot Noir, don't recall the brand. I had the Toki Highball, which was delicious and the wife envied me. Appetizer: We split the Sex and the City roll which had a great kick. We were starving and this disappeared quickly. Main course: we both had the Karai Ramen. I had chicken, spice level 2 (scale from 0-3) while she had pork and spice level 1. This time I was envious of my wife's order because she raved about the tenderness of the meat. She didn't share haha. Chicken was good and tender as well, always a safe choice. Definitely going to try the pork next time. No dessert because we were both stuffed at the end of it. Maybe next time, and there will definitely be one. read more

Great food. Quick seating. We had pork ramen broth with chicken teriyaki rice. Food was seasoned well. Lots of food for the price.

Was seated at 1pm for lunch. I was invisible until 1:20 and then basically told I needed to hurry because they close at 2pm. I left. I can spend my money today and every other day someplace else. I don't care how good the food is, save yourself and go someplace where customer service actually means something. read more

WOW... My friends and I had an amazing experience at Karai. We had already ate out for dinner and were so full, but we were still craving a late night snack of ramen and stopped by Karai. It was WONDERFUL. The owner was so sweet and gave us "mini" Karai ramen bowls because we said we had already eaten dinner! It couldn't have been more of a perfect size AND it looked & tasted incredible! We also got two aschi beers to compliment and we've never had such refreshing beer... it has such a refreshing and unique taste. Went above and beyond our expectations! Definitely will go again! read more

Went on a busy Friday night. Busy to me just means that it will be good so I didn't mind to wait at the bar and have a cold beer. We tried the Asahi beer on draft while we waited. The one bartender was very busy so I would recommend maybe a second bartender to help with table orders and one to tend to everyone at the bar. Once seated we ordered a couple more Asahi beers, a combo of hand rolls; lobster, toro and scallops, the Karai Ramen with Tofu and a soft boiled egg, and the Spicy Miso Ramen. I loved my ramen but my fiancé had the spicy miso and I LOVED the flavor so I'll be getting that one next time. The atmosphere was great. We received all our food fairly quick. Definitely worth waiting a few minutes to be seated! Be patient, I promise it's worth it!! read more

I don't have the words to describe the food, but it's great! I don't experiment with other than staple foods much, but these folks blew me away! One of the best new restaurants I've tried in awhile. The food is authentic and delicious. I'm highly impressed with their local organic produce and vegetarian and vegan options. They have a great varied menu with several choices and will help in letting you customize your food choices. It's very clean, beautiful rustic decor, nice background music and a peaceful atmosphere. The entire staff we've encountered have been helpful and friendly and eager to engage in conversation. They truly care in asking about your experience and making sure it's a good one. There's a great dessert menu and bar as well. I'd highly recommend them. Odds are you'll come back! read more

My boyfriend and I drove 2 hours to come try the ramen at this place and let me tell you it didn't disappoint. We both got the Spicy Miso Ramen with a level 2 & 3 spice. The spice wasn't bad at all, it didn't leave you drinking your water continually. Overall the the broth was quite nice, better than the ramen broths I have tried. The ramen already comes with a lot of bean sprouts on top along with sweet corn, a bit of kimchi, and some grounded beef. I added chasu to mine, which was pretty good. We also got a spicy tuna hand-roll which was adorable and yummy! Inside the restaurant is quite a wonder. We loved the vibe and decorations of it. We will definitely be back! (: read more

The Food is excellent, however they either need to hire someone to answer the phone, or authorize someone else to process carry out orders. 3 customers stood there for 10 minutes with our food on a table less than 10 feet, and the only employee there that could process out order is taking phone call after phone call. Awesome Food, Terrible service. read more
