The food was a bit of a wait. So we hurriedly put all our orders in. There were fried rice, bento box, and yaki sobas. It was about 20min for appetizer and after that it was another 25min for food. They told us of short staff, I get it but there were only 3 tables. We was the only one in there first, then it got more people coming. Anyways the food was good, not bad, just I was very hungry and the food didn't arrive til 40min later. Overall food was good, just a long wait and services was nice.

I always love the rolls we order and a couple of favorites are the kissy kissy and geisha. Love how you get salad and soup with a sushi roll order, not just hibachi or any other main course dish. Everything is super fresh, you can watch them prepare your rolls at the counter and then they are brought straight to your table. We have ordered hibachi chicken here. It's good but we prefer the rolls . With the other Japanese places in town I feel this one gets overlooked. I've always been able to walk right in! So if you want delicious sushi and don't want to have to wait forever or make a reservation, Umi is the place for you!

There seems to be a trend of new Asian fusion restaurants that have opened recently, this is one of…read morethe better ones in my opinion. Now I'm not a giant fan of the plain old Chinese restaurants that seem to be on every other block here in Springfield, but picky me really likes Asian fusion restaurants. Its clean, friendly, and fast service here, with a large menu. They offer anything from sushi, shrimp with lobster sauce, sweet and sour chicken, and just about any other of your favorite Asian dish's. The lunch special is very well priced and includes the entree, your choice of 2 crab rangoon's, egg role, or soup as an added side to the meal. It's a really nice portion of food, it all comes un-assembled so you decide how much sauce to add, which is a great touch. Also, like how they bread the chicken, it's more of a wet batter to start and fry's up nice and puffy so to say. One cool thing about the decor is the gold cat on the counter that is perpetually waving hello, really want to know where I can get one of those, lol. Give it a try for lunch, really can't beat that special, and they can be pretty busy at times, which means to me I'm not the only one who knows good food in this town.

A unique item here are the noodles. Wow they were great. There were some crispy pieces from the grill top and that made it so delish! The veggies were fresh and well prepared. The fried rice was tasty. Had the chicken and steak. Both were good. The teriyaki sauce was good and the condiments were refilled. Great dinner. This location can accommodate large parties.
