I didn't expect to go back to Kar Tunz so soon. I smooshed my car, pulling into the garage I hit the left front fender on the side of the garage. I'm an idiot. The clear car bra saved my car from terrible damage. I have a few scrapes on the plastic parts, but nothing horrible. I stopped by Kar Tunz to get a quote. To their credit, they didn't laugh at me for coming back within the month. They looked at it, we made an appointment for the next week, in it went. I now have it back with same-day service. They have a body shop they work with, who came over and touched up the car, and they worked it out so I just paid Kar Tunz and Kar Tunz reimbursed the body shop. I even got the left over paint for further touchups, which I hope there will not be, as my husband will kill me if I keep wrecking my car. The car bra looks great, and they cleaned up the door edges from the first time I got it done. I am not a car person; they are just a way to get around, but messing up a brand new car is within the realm of what I consider excessively stupid. Chris and the Kar Tunz staff were really nice to me and didn't make me feel stupid. That says a lot, given they are car people. AND, Chris told me he read my first Yelp review and made sure I got my 25 bucks credited back! How cool is that? They really are a 5 star business, they deserve all the accolades they get. read more

My wife spent over $2,000 on a stereo and backup camera. The wire to the backup camera was damaged and stopped working because of the installation. We moved out of the area, but got an estimate for $300 to repair the backup camera. Beto said they would take care of the damage originally, but never sent the required wires and eventually stopped responding. I am disappointed they didn't do the right thing. These guys did an incredible job on my new Range Rover Sport. Blacked our the Skirts, Powder Coated the Rims, Tinted the windows and added new exhaust tips. the Paint on the plastic skirts and bumper parts match that of the car 100%. the car looks PERFECT. I bought Vantrue N2, which is $135. I need to wire to fuse box to support hot in running mode. I visited several shops to wire. Normally, the cost is $35 ~c $50 dollars. I put a new audio system in Kar Tunz before and visited Kar Tunz and asked the cost. They said it would take one hour and half and cost is $150, which is more expensive than my dash cam. If you want to put dash cam, visit other stores. They are too expensive. read more

I wanted a new stereo for my work truck, a 1997 Nissan Quest GXE van. It had come with a horrible stereo and I'd never really paid much attention to it and recently had been using a Bluetooth speaker for all my musical needs. Moving from high end home audio systems to my car simply became too painful and something new was needed. Having had a previous good experience with KarTunz I didn't hesitate to contact them again. I dropped in one afternoon and briefly spoke with Mia. She was focused and intent upon understanding my wants. She quickly asked Ava to help and he started by listening. A skill that seems to have been forgotten in today's world. At no time did I feel pressured. I did feel like I was speaking with someone who had a great deal of experience and after a few minutes Ava asked to see my vehicle. After talking a bit more and seeing what the interior had to offer Ava had some really great ideas about what could be done. Ava helped me to narrow down what I actually wanted. This being a work truck I didn't want to spend a lot, but I still wanted something that was decent, a very relative term. More on that in a moment. I spend between two and three hours a day on the road so I really wanted to start enjoying my time and have access to hands free calling, integrated mapping for Google or Waze, preferably both. I also wanted tight integration between my phone and the head unit allowing me to play movies and access video content on the web as well as off of my phones SSD. I had done some research before I dropped in and Ava confirmed that my decision to purchase the Pioneer unit was the right one. I had talked myself into a AVH-4200NEX series head unit. Ava suggested that I instead think about the AVH-2300NEX which is $200.00 cheaper without giving up any of my wants. Already I felt like I was in the right place. Ava was interested in making sure what they installed was exactly what I wanted without gouging me in price. This level of customer service is growing harder and harder to find. We set a date for the following week and I met Brian who was the technician who would be doing the actual installation. Don't let his mild manner fool you. There is a sharp and detail focused mind behind that persona. When I dropped off my car, it was estimated that the work would take about 6 hours. Ava called me right around 5pm saying they had run into a couple of issues, but that my car would be ready around 6pm. When I arrived a few minutes before six Ava met me and suggested I relax for a few minutes in their very spacious and comfortable lounge area. He told me they were still having problems with the steering wheel control interface and wanted to get it right. instead of just calling it quits Brian continued to work on getting it working until almost 6:30pm. At no time did I feel like I was holding anyone up or that having to work late was anything but ordinary. Going above and beyond seems to be the norm for KarTunz. The initial goal of providing decent audio and full integration with my Android phone had been accomplished and Ava had taken it upon himself to upgrade the front speakers. This is important because it showed that not only had Ava understood my wants, but he had also understood a little about me and just what my expectations for the final system would be. The upgrade was minimal in cost and yet easily doubled the audio performance of the front speakers. Ava and the KarTunz team treated my 20+ year old van as if it were a Ferrari and I was treated the same. Unfortunately, the bass response was anemic even with the oversized front speakers that Brian had managed to wedge into the front door panels. Ava and I had talked about this possibility during our first meeting and he had come up with several options at that time. Time for a sub and dedicated amplifier! We setup an appointment for the following week and this time I stupidly decided to hang out while the install was performed. Ava had warned me it would take about four and a half hours so I brought a book and only lasted about thirty minutes before I bored. Ava immediately offered to drive me over to Hacienda Crossing suggesting I might catch a movie and some lunch. I did just that and almost to the minuet Ava called and said my car was ready and asked if I was ready to be picked up. Again, at no time did I feel rushed or that I was anything but his priority. The team had again gone above and beyond installing a dedicated volume control for the sub in a discreet and easily accessible location on my dash, as well as a USB outlet for the head unit interface to my phone. These small touches really make a difference in both usability as well as aesthetics and its doubtful other lessor installers would take the time to do these things. KarTunz is not the cheapest solution in town, but with the quality of work that they perform and the attention to detail they provide to even the smallest of jobs its worth a few dollars more. read more

I have given this place 3 tries in a year to earn my business. Sorry 3 strikes and your out. First time we came in to purchase a dvd headrest system. The salesman was informative , but they were very pricey. They called back 4 days later to renegotiate after I had already purchased the dvd system elsewhere. 2nd try. Called to inquire about tinting 2 rear door windows and once they wanted $240.00. I ended getting same job done at Low Price Glass for $140 3rd try I wanted them to help me remove the dvd system from the headrest since I wanted to send it in for warranty. I arrived to a employee-less showroom. A customer and I waited 5 mins for someone to acknowledge us. Finally an employee arrives who was clueless about the products they carry. I finally spoke to the owner who said he could help me then ignored me. So after seeing him answer the phone and help other customers, I walked out. These guys do not know what they are doing. So, my anniversary is coming up on the 1st of April and i wanted to take my girlfriend up to the snow for the weekend. So I purchased a OEM factory roof rack online from BMW for my Mini Cooper S. My local MINI COOPER DEALER was full so they recommended another company that recommended these guys. So I called these guys to see if they could install. After a 20 min conversation with the employee, explaining the whole process to them several times about hole being drilled and he telling me about all the nice cars they've installed them on. He then explained the process to his manager. They said they've done it plenty of times and could easily do mine. They say the can complete the job at factory quoted time of an hour and a half. They gave me an hour and half quote at close to $100+ per hour. i think this is an awesome vibe and they've done it before that gave me confidence, So i set an appointment. Today i drove to Pleasanton from San Francisco to get the job done. I didn't mind the distance i just wanted the job done RIGHT.and the guy in charge Bryan asked for my keys and being myself, not being anal but wanting to make sure my car wasn't going to get messed up. I told them to let me get the instructions and go over them with you guys. Bryan just wanted my keys and for me to hang out in the waiting room, and said they've done this many times. (Obviously they just say that to get you in the door.) We walk to my car as I explain the process. He goes over to the worker, come back and started telling me, "we've never installed a roof rack on a roof like this before, we're not confident" im like "wtf i explained the process to you guys over the phone. and they already asked the manager. explained it to you, you said you know how, whats up with the contradiction" so he goes over and talks to his workers and brings them over to talk to me. And they say "we don't know if we can do the job its going take along time up to 5 -6 hours. and require taking off the headliner"............... my face went from [o_o] to (o . O) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was cool with the price difference from 150 to over 650 dollars. But "YOU DONT KNOW IF YOU CAN?!!"."TAKE OFF THE HEADLINER. !!!!" I asked them wait why do you have take off the head liner. HE SAID "TO DRILL UP through the roof and PUT WASHERS IN!!!!!! "Now there are many things wrong with these statements.. I'll be obliged to provide you with some later on. Granted, If i didn't know anything about cars i would think "ok.. cool these guys have a good rating on yelp, they must know what their doing." (Now i'm not a master tech but i do know some stuff) So I said to myself "FREAK no" (more explicitly) That is the most ridiculous thing I've never wanted to hear. I've heard enough from these guys. So i told them I had to go. And told them if you need something done, you have to do it yourself. Hopped into my car, where my girlfriend had been listening and looking up their yelp. She was like "these guys don't know what their doing." I should have known when i saw the indicators when I was going over their one-starred reviews about tinting. Which is probably one of the easier task to have completed on your car. They can't even tint without bubbles. Here is an overview of things that went wrong with this company 1. YOU TAKE DON'T OFF the HEADLINER. Factory doesn't require that. WHY COMPLICATE the job and CHARGE ME EXTRA for it !! You're adding 6 hours onto the job and you say you're not sure if it'll be done properly 2. You take off my headliner and you miss a clip, its going to SQUEAK and VIBRATE for the remaining period in which i possess the car. 3. You'll be spending so much unnecessary time.it wont help at all because there's templates and manuals that tells you were everything need to go and how to do it (I'VE SHOWN YOU GUYS!!) 4. Why would you drill up when there area already holes for you to put screws in. 5. If you create a new hole into my roof, put in washers and even if you globed silicon to everything, water could still get through and get into my headliner. 6. They made me drive 1 hour during early morning traffic for something you guys repeatedly gave me confidence you guys could do. 7. Gave me two quotes to a job they couldn't complete. From $150 to over $650 then say you might be able to complete the job. 8. The confidence. first they had so much confidence then afterwards they tell me they weren't sure if they could complete it satisfactory. You only have one chance when you're drilling holes. 9. The LACK OF knowledge. I now question the authenticity of their yelp reviews, probably fake in house reviews So I drove home and completed the job in about an Hour 45 mins. Took it back and they gave me the run around. They blamed the rear on the auto shop for not giving them a clean window. Ok, what about the side? No comment. I doubt their professionalism on other matters if they can't even tint a window. During summer, every time I look out the window I see the bubbles bequeathed by this place. And for people saying that "oh I can't believe they treated me nicely even though I drive a shitty car." Well, you guys are dumbasses. They charge you like any other customer, why wouldn't any professional establishment treat you any different? It is not like the gas station is going to charge you any less if you drive a Honda Pilot or a Porsche. read more

I'm disappointed with this place. They came highly recommended by a friend. Even though they are 12 miles away, I figured the drive is worth it if they do good work. I called and spoke to the owner to schedule an appointment to install clear bra and window tinting. We agreed on the price, date and time. I woke up early to drop off my car since they will need it all day, showed up in time and come to my surprise, they didn't even have me on the schedule. The owner was behind the desk whom I spoke to over the phone, couldn't even recollect the conversation we had. Left without an apology or appointment. You know how relationships go: the first meeting is awkard. You're nervous. You want things to go well. Well that's how my first experience was at Kar Tunz. I just purchased a new car (yes another one) and I wanted to get the windows tinted. The dealership recommended that I go to Kar Tunz. My thinking is that if THIS dealership is recommending them then they must be on their game! I called to make an appointment, but they didn't have any weekend openings. They were, however, able to squeeze me in on a Saturday. I waited while they put on the tint. I was offered the remote to their TV and watched "Airplane" on Netflix while I waited. The whole thing took about two hours. I was told that some of the bubbles in the tint would flatten out in a few weeks. I walked away apprehensive, but confident. Then, the honeymoon was over... A month went by, I still had bubbles in my tint. I was told it was dirt. A few more weeks go by, and the dreaded bubbles were still in the tint. Okay, I know the difference between an air bubble and dirt, so I was getting upset. I called back, to seek restitution. To say, "it was nice knowing you, BUT..." They were so cool about it. They asked that I bring the car back in. They looked at the window and said they would fix it. I left the car with them for the afternoon, they drove me to work. Okay. I went back to pick up my car; they had replaced most of the original tint they put on at no extra charge to me. Now my windows look great. The beginning was rocky but I appreciated the finish. I made an appointment to have a clear paint protecting film applied to my new Tesla. I received a couple of different quotes and decided to have them do it. They wanted a $200 deposit for some reason, but I agreed and they walked me through their shop to provide my credit card to the nice lady working in the office. On my appoint time I drove to the back and waited for someone to greet me as various employees scattered around. When none of those employees approached and asked if they could help me, I decided to go to the office taking the same course I was directed to go to make the deposit. As I entered someone across the way stuck his head out of the office shouting, "You can't come in that way. You have to walk around the the building." I stood there dumbfounded wondering is that the way they great customers. Just then, the same guy shouted again, :"Look down. The sign says, 'Employees only.'" I looked down and sure enough there was a faded sign there. I began to wonder if the employees paid their own salaries too because they're sure not getting my money with service like that. I got back in my car, but decided to wait a little longer. After a few minutes when nobody came to greet me I slowly drove away very disappointed, but happy to pay the $200 for a lesson on how not to deal with customers. read more

Just picked up a Infiniti m45 couple weeks ago, and I wanted to get my windows tinted and clear bra the front of end of the car. I was referred to Kartunz by a buddy of mine, and he told he they have great prices and do an excellent job, I went ahead and made an appointment with Chris for the weekend, and he accommodated me at any time i wanted. Chris did a great job at Tinting my car. No bubbles, no blemishes, every was great. Same thing for the for the clear bra. It was done right and perfect. I was definitely satisfied with the work and the price. My red 2000 Corolla runs like a dream (knock on wood) but just has the factory issue tape deck, which is pretty sad. Now that I've purchased an iPod for my family (oh my god I fit our entire CD collection on there and still have 20 GB's of room! Yes!!). I decided it was time to upgrade the stereo so I could use my new toy wherever the road takes me. Besides with the killer commutes around here isn't it worth having a nice stereo? I took the car to Kar Tunz and they are awesome! I emailed Tommy through the website what I was looking for and he gave me an estimate in a return email within 2 days (and apologized that it took so long to get back to me). 2 days is not long by my book. A stereo with iPod hook up is about $275; I went for a higher quality stereo and spent about $400. I am very happy with the results. My new stereo has the iPod hookup in the glove box, it's a digital connection so there's no hesitation in going from 1 song to the next, and the iPod is charged while I'm using it! It has blue tooth functionality, and Satellite radio functionality and I could add a cd deck as well (but why bother when I have my iPod!!!). They said they could have the whole thing done in 4 hours (dropped it off around 9:00 AM and get it back by lunch). But I said I would pick it up at the end of the day. Window tinting and car stereo experts!! Happened to stumble upon this shop after browsing through the yellow pages. Came out completely satisfied. I just bought a new car and wanted to get some simple window tinting done. Went in there with a few questions and came out almost a tinting expert. Learned about all the complications and causes of bubbling and other defects in tint. They used high quality tint, with multiple shades to choose from. Price was excellent...cheaper than any quote by about 25 bucks. They offered a lifetime warranty against bubbling, peeling, and fading. On a side note, my friend had a car that he wanted to put a tv into the dash. They were able to fabricate custom plastic peices for a perfect fit. I had them install an Apple-CarPlay-compatible stereo in my VW Beetle. A couple of months later I was changing the volume when I hit a big bump and suddenly my stereo had pushed into the dash! I took it right over to them at the end of the day, and they told me to pull the car right in. A few minutes later they discovered it was a bad mount, replaced the mount, and I drove away with a perfectly working stereo and a happy attitude. He put a package together for me (JL amps, Hertz speakers, JL Subs, head unit, tinted windows), and I told him I would do some homework and get back to him. I checked the prices against Crutchfield and BestBuy, and the overall the package that I got from Tommy was less than the other shops. If you care about your car audio then this is the place to go to. Also, had Tommy add on a body kit and repair a dented wheel. I just wish they could do oil changes on dropped cars, and car washes then I would be set on going to a one-stop shop that I trust. read more
