Happy hour Monday to Friday 2pm to 5pm

If you're looking for a quiet place for a late lunch/early dinner, you definitely need to stop at Kanpai. They have happy hour during the week between 2pm and 5pm. Their sushi is always so fresh. My family has known Randy for many years. It's a great place to come together for great food and atmosphere.

Grandsons 27th birthday is always a good excuse to visit KanPai. We made reservations for 5:30, greeted and seated when we entered everyone was on time. KanPai was already humming busy staff was prepared for a fun Saturday evening. Friendly host took our beverage and appetizer orders. Our Teppanyaki Chef "Lucky"came out and introduced himself. Our special drinks and appetizers came right out and were amazing. After all our dinners choices were made, Lucky got busy with his craft. Soups and salads started us off and were just right. Lucky was a true master chef, very professional watching him prepare our meals was artistic. The rice, vegetables perfect all our entrees, Scrimp, New York's, filet mignons scallops were outstanding cooked to everyone's request. The Dewars ice cream topped off a super delicious dining experience. Thank you KanPai for a memorable evening Happy Birthday Austin

If you're going on a holiday be prepared to wait for a good while! We had a reservation and still had to wait a good bit. Other than that the food was delicious, service was great as well! Very nice vibes and super clean.

Went to Kan Pai for dinner with a friend visiting from out of town and it did not disappoint! I had the chicken teppanyaki dinner while she had the New York steak -- both cooked well and packed with flavor. We also ordered gyoza and shrimp tempura (no pictures because we ate them too fast!) but they were both absolutely delicious. The service was friendly, attentive, and we never had to wait long for refills. Portions were generous too -- we both left with leftovers, which is always a plus. My only complaint is that my friend ordered her steak medium rare and it came out closer to medium well. Other than that, everything was excellent. I'd definitely recommend Kan Pai for great food, good vibes, and friendly service.

Wow! I had no idea that Bakersfield offered Teppanyaki. Kanpai is worth the visit for a unique dining experience. The restaurant's ambiance is lively and the service is excellent! I visited Kanpai this weekend with my friends to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was packed, so I'd recommend making reservations if you want to avoid the wait. Because we wanted to order from their regular menu, we were seated promptly. I ordered the Tiger roll and it was quite flavorful. My friend ordered the Katsu. She enjoyed it, but mentioned that it was a little tough rather than crispy. Kudos to our server! Thank you for never letting our glasses empty, especially in this heat!

Glad this place is an option here in Bakersfield. Made reservations here , especially since it was Valentine's Day. Recommend reservations for sure either way; holiday or non. The sushi tasted fresh. The chef was awesome; did a lot of tricks that were entertaining. Loved his choo choo train sounds and demonstration. Food cooked exactly as you order , especially the meat. Add jalapeños to ur fried rice; gives it a nice little kick with ur meal. Very filling meal; ask for containers for ur leftovers. Taste good the next day also. They add gratuity automatically on ur bill; so check that out closely. Nice size shrimp; not them itty bitty ones where you have to eat a few at a time to think you ate one piece. It can be causal or fancy if you please. I would recommend they ask u if you want more sauces, for your food though before they take off to the next table.

Service, food really good. Make rsvp before arriving. I bit pricey but with today's prices I guess can't complain.

They fit 4-6 comfortably - you could probably fit 8. There is one bartender (Jeffrey, if I remember correctly) he's amazing. He also takes your dinner orders. Id sit in the main restaurant if you have a larger party or kids. Like I said, the lounge is small. It's a great place to sit, if you want to sit at the bar counter. Patrons are friendly, staff are great, food is delicious. Ribeye, great. Good salmon. Great shrimp appetizer. Nice salads. Well made drinks. Not the biggest fan of the fried app platter. It's all pretty one dimensional and bland. Other than that, all food I've tasted has been good. Overall, a good place for a date. Actually took myself on a solo date and we enjoyed ourselves. Nice place to meet up with friends. 4 stars for the bland fried platter and in the summer, the AC wasn't the best- the lounge can get pretty warm.

I decided to give the Oh, My Toast a try which is their twist on avocado toast. This had avocado, feta, radish, PICKLED ONIONS, and an egg however you want it cooked on sourdough toast. It also had some type of seasoning on it that was absolutely amazing!!! My friends went with The Wrap and the Bagel Sandwich, both with fries. Everyone was satisfied and happy! We all topped our meals off with espresso martinis and stranger things cocktails. I love this place and will continue to tell people about it. Even our server was amazing!

The chicken sandwich had a great crispy bite and was packed with flavor, while the paneer sandwich was fresh, satisfying, and just different enough to make it memorable. The veggies in both the sandwiches tasted crisp and fresh, and the bun was nicely toasted. The french fries were super crispy and very seasoned, exactly the ones you keep eating even when you're already full. What also stood out was the atmosphere and the people behind the place. Karen, the owner, is genuinely sweet and welcoming, and you can tell this business is built with care and pride. Supporting local spots like this matters, especially when good food and good service come together the way they do here. If you're thinking about going, today seems like a great time since they don't appear to be very busy. If you can't make it today, a weekday visit would probably be your best bet, since weekends seem to be the busiest. Either way, Harrington House is worth checking out if you want a solid meal from a local Bakersfield business.
