On Thursday, February 6 we requested service for our septic tank on our farm by Kangarooter 2615 Edison Highway, Bakersfield, CA . Two servicemen from their company came out and opened up our septic tank underground system . The on site estimator representing the company gave a quote. He stated that we had to have our septic tank piping, parts, etc. replaced at a cost of between eight and $12,000. My wife asked him what was the specific problem and what did he see to justify the work he claimed needed to be done for certification. He gave us a blank look and told us that the work would include major work to include digging up the complete septic system components where the system piping was ran. He couldn't give us any information of what findings were to justify the work that he claimed had to be done . My wife asked him some basic questions relating to the conversation and he felt threatened by being arrogant in his response, and turned red in the face and walked away. She then spoke directly with the foreman since the estimator was rode and had an attitude because a woman asked him common sense questions which he couldn't answer with a straight face. The foreman stated that the owner would reach out to us by evening. The owner as of today Sunday Feb 9, 2025 has not responded. Kangarooter obviously is not a company with integrity. We didn't feel comfortable at all with this company and felt that the representative of the company out in the field was only here to rip us off. Thank God, my wife is a God-fearing Christian and told the gentleman to leave and that we would have a second opinion from another company to come out . The following day, my wife scheduled an appointment for another local septic tank contractor to come out and give us a quote what it would be to clean the septic tank . The representative of the company didn't find any issues with the tank where in fact there would be labor intense, replacing parts , piping, etc to dig up the whole yard and replace piping for the septic tank. All that had to be done was service the septic tank at a cost of $1000. To include septic tank certification. First off, they have serviced our septic tank over the last 15 years. They emptied, we fill it. lol. This year, after 50+ years of septic use, it was time to upgrade. Two of the original lids had deteriorated to the point that they were unable to close. There are two septic tank companies here in Bakersfield that do septic tank installs. One company said that they wanted to change the original equipment but that in the process my entire front yard would be a mess and that I would have to replace my front door sidewalk, our newly planted Chinese elm would possibly not survive and our fencing may be disturbed because they would need to put in several hundred feet of leech line to the back yard as well. Thank God for Kangarooter! Kangarooter proved them wrong. When requesting the permit for the new septic tank Kangarooter requested the same style of septic tank that was original to this house. That request did take a bit longer for consideration due to soil testing and the county due diligent in the process. I'm grateful that Kangarooter requested that type of system. He could've done a leech line which could've made the job quicker for him and his payment would've been sooner but he did what was best for our yard and home. I had to change the time of service twice due to family matters and she was able to get me in asap and time that worked for us. Kangarooter has quick availability and flexible. I left her a voicemail and she returned my call in less than 15 minutes. She even provided me w her personal number if I was able to reach the office. Tom made a visit and was quick and efficient. He explained to me our sink situation and what was needed. He went above and beyond. He checked out our sink and all it needed was a change in garbage disposal. For several weeks I've made several attempts to contact Chuck who I was told is the owner and is the man that would be coming out to give me an estimate for a leach line replacement. To this date I have yet to hear from him or anyone from his office and each time I call I'm told a different story of why he maybe he has not called me back. I'm glad business is so grand that he can't take time to return at least one of my messages. Not cool!! But things happen for a reason so this may have been a blessing in disguise and could've been a lot worst of an experience... We had to call kangarooter out after another company did a disastrous job. They came out the same day I called, because the other company had terrible costumer service and caused many problems. Not only did they find out our entire pipe needed to be repaired but they also discovered the other company hadn't even touched our entire second tank. He agreed to complete the work but then failed to come out several times after agreeing to do the work. Then I left messages and didn't get called back. I set an appointment with them for today at 8:30 am. Called the office multiple times because no one showed up! I was told "it happens , we don't know where the driver is, we will call you back." I had to call back at 1130 for them to say "oh driver should have called you he will be there soon. FINALLY they show up at 11:45 to my home. I went outside to greet them and both the men ignored me and continued walking into my yard without saying a word to me!!! I had to leave for an appointment and my husband had to leave work to be there. Then I see the yard a MESS! Horrific work covering up the whole and RUINED my grass! Worker even said" if my boss seen this he would be upset!" He didn't offer a discount my husband asked for one and he was hesitant to give us a " senior discount". I will billed $1350 total (3 separate invoices) for one of my rental properties, with invoices that were generated manually for work supposedly done 4 months ago, yet no supporting job orders or invoices from the date the work was supposedly actually completed. We had Kangarooter pump our tank in Jan 2017. I've waited forever to review the company, hoping someone would call me back and I've never heard from anyone. The two guys had a hard time finding 1 lid to our tank and because of that, they didn't want to dig up the 2nd lid. Now we paid $400 to have our tank partially pumped. They also left big piles of dirt on my lawn. I called and spoke to the lady who answers the phones. She didn't know what was going on and said she'd find out and call me right back. I've waited for a call for 6 months now. They also knocked a piece of the concrete lid off and put the lid in sideways. They looked at me and said it's fine and it's sealed. I don't recommend them. Will be looking for someone else next time. Only reason I give 2 stars is because they did manage to squeeze us in right away. read more

Words cant describe how horrific my experience was with this company. 1 word- RUN. I saw the initial bad reviews and this was my second company I had come look at my septic (Previous was Drain Pro and you can see the review on their page). I called for a quote on a septic inspection, pump, and certification since I was selling my home. My holes were already dug due to the previous incident with Drain Pro. I have on camera the tech come out and not even look in the hole, he said nothing can be done and walked away asking who they can bill for $200 for the 7 minutes he was at our property. Recall that I have this on surveillance with time stamps. They gave no opinion or alternate options. (I understand septics are a pain in the rear and many techs probably don't get paid enough to want to deal with it). Days later I followed up to make sure I was not getting billed to my escrow since now I had to move on to a 3rd plumbing company. I called really nice and quietly( my boss was nearby) and instantly the woman whom answered was very defensive. I explained my confusion on what services were provided and she read off a list of what the tech did and even included how he dug the holes. Again recall I called Drain Pro before and had my holes dug. Still in my quiet and polite voice, she said many disrespectful things including " what kind of thief homeowner are you selling your home with a septic like that in that condition". I did not respond and just requested to speak to a manager to discuss it and she scoffed and word by word said " I am the manager and I can talk how I want" The sad thing of this all: my escrow contacted me with "good news" and said hey we found a company that will charge 6k to repair your septic, and I asked yay who is it?! They responded : Kangarooter. I told them the experience I had with them and they were surprised. My sister needed her cesspool replaced. We were gifting the job to her family and I had reached out to Facebook for recommendations for such a job. I live in Las Vegas but I am from Bakersfield and have several friends as I grew up there. I asked her to get two to three proposals. I'm a real estate investor and manager and I know how the bidding process should work. My husband was a County Project Engineer for many years so he too is very familiar with the bidding process. The problem with Kangarooter is getting a proposal. My sister reached out to them no less than a half a dozen times to get a proposal. They gave multiple excuses as to why they didn't send or prepare a proposal. The excuses stemmed from "Oh, I thought Rene already took care of this." "Oh we gave him the wrong address." With each excuse it was followed up with "We will get you a proposal by X date." That time would come and pass and nothing. In the meantime Superior came out the same day called and gave a proposal. My sister had done business previously with Kangarooter and I know she would of liked to give them the business however, me being in the real estate business for 28 years, if a company can't even provide you with something so simple as a proposal then you don't want to deal with them once they have been paid. First impressions are everything. Once I signed the contract and did the deposit over the phone they were out there that very day doing soil testing. Plans were submitted to the County and work was scheduled and completed in rapid succession. You would think a company would want a contract, a sizeable one at that. Especially during an pandemic when other companies are suffering for work, employee's are worried about their jobs. Apparently that is not the case with this company. I would be so embarrassed as the company owner to know at $7,000 to $8,000 job just walked out their door because they couldn't be bothered with doing something so simple as a proposal. I would recommend Kangarooter all day every day. They came with in 30 minutes of my call, was able to contact my landlord for payment over the phone without me being the middle man, he immediately located where he needed to go and fix my clog, made it easier to access for future plumbing issues FOR FREE, snaked my line, checked rather it was draining, even cleaned most where it has been backing up in my shower. After he left and my toilet wouldn't flush n go down and he immediately came right back and found that issue to be cause of the water level the maintenance people had set my toilet tank to fill on. They came to the house and torn up my yard, failed to pump my septic tank do to tree roots that were the width of a pasta noodle and never called. I called back that evening and spoke with the owners wife, who said her husband would came me in the morning.
