I ordered the blueberry bacon cheeseburger and I'm still thinking about it. The combination sounds wild, but it works perfectly: juicy, well-seasoned beef, crispy bacon, melty blue cheese, and that blueberry element adds just the right touch of sweetness to balance everything out. Every bite was bold, messy, and incredibly satisfying. And don't skip the house-cut fries--they're just as impressive. Perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, well-seasoned, and ideal for sharing (or not). They pair perfectly with the burger and a beer from Almanac. They also have dog-friendly beef patties - no salt or pepper, and the pups love it! The fact that you can grab food this good while hanging out at the brewery makes the whole experience even better. It's the kind of place you might miss if you didn't know to look for it, but once you do, you'll be hooked. If you're even remotely into creative burgers done right, Scolari's is a must-try.

He opened the truck door, stepped out, and approached me in a confrontational manner, stating, "This is well done. This is as bad as I can give you. I can give you a refund." so I sit there and waited a few minutes to make sure the refund went back on my card because again I go from Stockton California and I only have a 30 minute break and I have no more money. When Faction Brewing hosts a beer festival, you can bet it's going to be 1 of the best beer…read morefestivals you've been to. At least, that's been my experience. For me, it all started a few years ago when I attended the Ales for ALS beer festival here at Faction Brewing (https://www.yelp.com/biz/ales-for-als-alameda). Great charity cause, stellar brewery/ beer lineup, & Faction's sprawling layout on the edge of Alameda with sweeping Bay/ City views made for a memorable brewfest that I try to get back to every year. & then, this year, I heard about Brewbies. What? Another beer festival out at Faction. I definitely needed to check it out. The Brewbies Fest raises funds for the Keep A Breast Foundation (http://keep-a-breast.org/). In addition to being a fundraiser for a good cause, Brewbies is a top-notch beer festival. What's it say about a brewfest when Russian River is pouring Pliny & there's no line for that? Yeah, the participating breweries & the beers they brought were that impressive. Brewbies. Great charity cause, stellar brewery/ beer lineup, & Faction's sprawling layout on the edge of Alameda with sweeping Bay/ City views. Sound familiar? There was already 1 beer festival at Faction on my calendar. & now, without a doubt, I'll be looking to make it back to Brewbies every year, as well

VIPs got in an hour early, and it was totally awesome to get your first beers in, pick up a bunch of sweet stickers and other brewery swag, chat with brewers and hit the more popular food trucks before the beer-thirsty hordes descended. LOL. It wasn't THAT terribly crowded, but a festival without lines is pretty magical. Brewbies benefits the Keep a Breast Foundation, supporting breast health education, so we got a tote bag full of little trinkets that read I heart BOOBIES. Breweries were encouraged to bring a pink beer if they had one, as that was the color of the festival, and many actually brewed special beers for the occasion, with fun names like Tough Titties (heyyyy Woodhouse from Santa Cruz). Lots of local breweries from the East Bay, SF, and quite a SoCal presence as well. It was really fun to try some breweries that we hadn't heard of, like Iron Springs from Fairfax/San Rafael, which made our favorite beer of the day, Not Your Uncle's Dunkel. Onto the food... We tried a "gourmet corn dog" from Sticks -- tasty, definitely, was it worth $6? Well, it was a festival, and I am a sucker for a corn dog. You could actually bring your own food in, which I thought was great. Some dudes showed up with pretzel necklaces. Go on with your prepared selves! We also got a Grilled Cheez Guy sandwich ($9) with "the works" (+ $6 gets you a bunch of stuff, but I just remember avocado, pickled pepper, tomato, and bacon). It was a good sandwich, again, a bit pricey at $15, but I couldn't really taste the cheese. I'm thinking that might have been our fault for getting "the works" but we expected the grilled cheese flavor/texture to be more prominent. I'd try them again, though. Bonus round: Do the Bay had a fun little photostation with cute signs, rainbow balloons, temporary tattoos and stickers. There were skeeball machines which you could pay for using your phone/contactless device. Raffles for skate decks painted by local artists. Fun times!

The ticket line to get in went smoothly & quickly. There was plenty of free drinking water for hydration & a decent number of food truck/ pop-up options to help with something solid for absorbing all that beer. Of which there was an astonishing amount, in both quantity & quality. Just like last year, 2015's Ales for ALS had 1 of the best brewery lineups of any brewfest I've been to. 1 curiosity was the short lines for San Diego breweries, such as: Stone, Societe, Pizza Port, & Coronado. Are Bay Area beer drinkers somehow not familiar with these breweries? Oh well, more for me. Bay Area breweries were well represented. Faction, as the host, was pouring beer, naturally. Nearby, Drake's, 21st Amendment, Rare Barrel, Cellarmaker, Triple Rock, & Iron Springs were all in the house. From farther up North a couple craft beer icons were also present: Sierra Nevada & Russian River. Rare Barrel, Russian River, & Cellarmaker had the longest lines of the day. An interesting & unique aspect of the Ales for ALS beer festival was that most breweries brought a beer brewed specifically for this brewfest using a special Ales for ALS hops blend. It was fun & insightful to taste the range of different beers each brewery made with the same exact hops blend. My favorite Ales for ALS beer of the day was "Keep It Dankster," a Pizza Port/ Alpine collaboration. You gotta know your SD breweries, they're doing it right down there. Though, technically, Rare Barrel's Ales For ALS is another favorite, but I'd already had that the day before at TRB & have a growler full of the stuff at home. These 2 fantastic beers were not, by any means whatsoever, the only exceptional beers at this seriously stacked brewfest. For both the 1st 2 years now, the Ales for ALS beer festival at Faction Brewing was 1 (or 2?) of the best brewfests I've been to. Great breweries, great beers, great cause, great location, & well-run throughout. I'm totally looking forward to 2016's Ales for ALS. & if you're any fan of quality craft beer at all, you should be too.

As far as beer festivals go, this one is right there on top.I am not going to name every brewery involved this year, but if there was virtually no line for Stone, then you should get a good impression of what was available. As with every other beerfest, it's hardly feasible that you will drink $40 worth of beer, but this one is really worth it because all the proceeds went to ALS research. There was enough food options/food trucks and Faction has plenty of space that was more than adequate for the number of thirsty beer drinkers. If there are two suggestions I can make it would only be more seating with tables outside and moving the band away from the tables as the music was so loud it was almost uncomfortable to sit in that area. This is probably nitpicking as overall Ales For ALS at Faction was as good as it gets. Drinking great craft beer while helping a good cause? Count me in. Especially since there is no ice bucket challenge required. I already can't wait for next year.

Unique opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Cyber Truck, Mache E and countless other makes - all outside next to all the Alameda Breweries. This is a time saving event and that is what drew me into it. Anything that saves time to me is very valuable. The Cyber Truck was so big and comfortable inside. It wasn't so high off the ground either - it felt like something great for roaming around in the city. I liked the back seat very much too - it took more advantage of the glass roof - something that wasn't as noticeable from behind the wheel. Lines for driving the most popular models weren't all that bad - it is a 12 minute course you drive through - very scenic with the San Francisco skyline in the background. All these modern EVs were so powerful from the EV6 to the Model 3. I'm not sure how these cars with such high HP and torque numbers do it. I drive cars with significantly less HP and torque and the wheels sort of spin - these cars have serious grip. I have a feeling the tires are super sticky AA rated. I could go on and on about the cars - but the people here were also so special. At Tesla I had a co-pilot next to me who was a field mechanic. He knew everything there was to know about these cars. This was a Tesla specialist not a sales guy. During my test drive of the EV6 I had a very friendly young lady from Detroit. Same story. At Nissan an expert from England was flown in for the video demonstrations. It was all so impressive. Food court food trucks also on site. Mozzeria among many many others. A really perfect way to spend the afternoon. I went on a whim and only spent a couple hours here - but was glad I did.
