Buffet lunch? Yes please! After Covid, I feel like there's not a lot of Indian buffet lunches anymore so I was really excited to learn about this one. It's such a cute location. It's like an a home but not. They have so many variety of dishes also so good if I've ever had a home cooked Indian meal I think this place is close to it We got seated immediately. There was probably two or three other parties there. This place is very spacious a lot of variety from my favorite butter chicken chicken, tandoori, Pioneer, Non, chai tea, chili, chicken, goat, curry, mixed vegetables, vegetable, Samosa, and many more! And they actually had mango soft serve and a salad bar I think after tip it was like $30. I think the lunch buffet is Wednesday through Saturday 11 to 2. There is parking in the back. Be warned, you will have food coma for the rest of the day but I was sure worth it! read more

Favorite Indian restaurant in the East Bay. My family has been coming here for over 20 years. Their lunch buffet is a great value and a good way to sample multiple curries while indulging on their freshly made, delicious naan! Nice interior with comfortable seating and friendly service. The tandoori chicken, goat curry, and fried cauliflower are my favorite. Easy to walk across the street to grocery outlet after to walk off lunch! read more

India Palace - Lunch buffet - Indian Near Me - Alameda, California

I've been coming to India palace for years. It has always been a favorite. I moved away and coming in town for a quick visit I couldn't wait to get my fix. I ordered to go and the food was ready in a timely manner. I happily took the items and headed to share the dinner with a friend. As we started to serve ourselves I was disappointed... Don't get me wrong, the flavor of the chicken tikki was on point. Palak paneer was very good. What was disappointing was the size of the portions. Normally there's enough to two people but I felt like we barely had enough and the majority of what we had was sauce. The samosas I would rave about because they were stuffed with so many veggies and now they felt like the side of won wins, like they were at least half the size, if not more, than what they used to be. read more

I settled for the buffet after playing tennis. For $22 all you can eat buffet. Since I've never shied away from food I had three helpings. I was one happy camper. I didn't bother in trying to remember what I ate but it was good! Service was alright. Pretty quiet restaurant situated across the street from Grocery Outlet. Well worth going back to. read more

Hands down one of the best Indian buffets around. After 20+ years still has the best naan, tandoori chicken and goat curry. Favorites are spinach and cauliflower but call ahead as they don't have it everyday. Pretty and new layout with silver serving dishes and soft serve machine for dessert. Service is great, hostess is always friendly and place is always busy. Lunch closes at 2pm. Friendly ambiance like you're at an old friend's house. read more

The food was OK. It is pricey for what you get. Almost all dishes had meat on the bone. Chicken dishes were all legs on the bone. No chicken breast. Chicken legs are the cheapest pieces of chicken you can get. There are much better buffets with chicken breast at much lower prices. I would not go back. read more

Their lunch buffet is currently about $22 from 11am to 2pm on Wednesday through Saturday.

Came here recently twice and both for the buffet! A little pricey but the selection is great. The food is always good here, I love all the selections of curry and the naan. The serve yourself chai is delicious as well! There's parking in the back. read more

Pretty ok Indian food at a solid price if you're going for their lunch buffet. Goat Curry was a bit on the salty side but no complaints on anything else in their buffet. Solid selection of both vegetarian and non vegetarian options as well as free Chai. Not spectacular but also not terrible. read more

I went to the buffet and it was good! The butter chicken was my favorite. My mom loved the goat. Everything was good! There is chai tea too! Perfect for a cold day at the buffet. The ice cream tasted like vanilla pudding which I liked. Their watermelon was super sweet. Staff is nice for the most part. read more

First time at India Palace and it was a comforting Indian food that hits the spot. I had the chicken basmati rice, lamb palak, and Mulligatawny soup -- all warm, flavorful, and well-spiced without going overboard. The lamb palak was rich and savory, the rice was fragrant and fluffy. The spiced lentil soup was smooth, but I preferred one with more texture. I ended up eating it as a curry over the rice the next day. Solid portions, friendly service, and an easy place to come back to when you want something comforting. read more

Wow, such a disappointment. Got an order to go for dinner with a friend: malai kofta, navrattan korma, paneer tikka, basmati saffron rice, and two lassis, plain/sweet and mango. The mango lassi was the first strike. My friend took a sip and exclaimed, "This doesn't even taste like mango!" I tried it, and she was right: it was bright orange, yet tasted like sweet milk, nothing more. The navrattan korma tasted like nothing. The malai kofta was ok, but given that I'd had the same dish at Khana Peena the night before, it paled by comparison. The paneer tikka came with no sauce--that's my bad for not reading the menu--but as is, was not super interesting. The rice was good. Service was good. I used to love this restaurant. $70 for very mediocre food? We're done. read more

So delicious! The staff was very nice and our food came out super quick. Everything was so flavorful and the lamb was very tender. The restaurant was very nice and had a good atmosphere. Definitely would go again. read more

It has been a long while, like 5 yrs I hadn't gone here. I went for buffet but it wasn't the day. Ordered what I wanted and yum! Still the same quality and yumminess. Was served fast and fresh! Loved my palak paneer. Thank you to the amazing lady who understood my time limitation. I am glad they are still open. The Indian music ( one of fav songs was playing) added to the greatness of the did. read more

There aren't a lot of good Indian restaurants in the area, but I did like I did Palace. Staff and Service: - We came here soon after opening time on a Thursday evening and got seated right away. Seats started to fill up around 6:00pm - Our server was very nice Food and Drinks: - Mango Lassi: not the typical mango lassi I've had in the past. Not as creamy as usual - more on the tart side. - Tikka Masala Curry: so good! Creamy, flavorful, abundant, etc. I could have eaten this whole thing by myself - Garlic Naan: also delicious and flavorful - House Salad: this was almost a meal in itself. We thought this would be a small side salad, but there was enough for 3+ people Miscellaneous. - Parking is available via street parking (there is a parking lot connected to the restaurant, but this is for the apartments only) - Good for small and large groups - Pretty quiet restaurant read more

My last visit was during Covid, outside dinning... This time, I ordered Vegetable Samosa, Malai Kofta, Bhindi Malasa with Basmati Safron Rice and Tandoori Roti. I got hungry, lol. Everything on the menu looks sooo good. All dishes are delicious!! The samosa are always tasty, especially the refreshing cilantro sauce....yummy! The waitress is so courteous & friendly. Great experience & lots of left over. Will be back again for Masala Tea! ** Tips: Buffet is on Wed-Sat from 11:00am to 2:00pm (subject to change) read more

Service - 5/5 Ambiance - 5/5 Food - 5/5 I've always passed this restaurant but finally had the chance to try it and was pleasantly impressed! I don't eat Indian cuisine often but my fiancé loves it. We both agreed this was one of the best Indian restaurants we've had. Garlic Naan - butter garlic and bread? Delicious Vegetable Samosa - so good especially with the sauces. Would definitely order again. Chicken Biryani - this had amazing flavor and was a big portion size! We had leftovers for the next day. Tandoori Mix Grill - wow! So good. This came out sizzling and was a mix of lamb, chicken, beef and shrimp. So good with our rice. read more

Being indian and having had Indian food my whole life - there is a lot this place did not get right. Naan - while tasted fine was not light and fluffy. Their eggplant dish was returned - it tasted mostly of tomato paste. Their chicken tikka masala was more watery than creamy and had a total of 5 pieces of chicken. The saag - delicious. My daughter had samosas she said were delicious and spicy. Mango lassi had more yogurt than anything else. Everything came out within minutes of ordering so that also is not great- it's just waiting in the back and not made to order. read more

We came on Mother's Day, so take that for what it is. We were seated pretty quickly, given our menus, and then I think our server forgot about us. She came back eventually and took our order. Our food came sans naan. My daughter wanted to take her aesthetic photo so she was waiting for the naan before eating. Probably 10 minutes later, a male, not our server said "oh! The bread!" Came back a few minutes later with the naan. The food was decent. I will say the sauce for the tikka misala was a bit more thin than I was expecting. But flavor was still fine. I guess the male server guy was trying to make it up to us because he brought us a couple desserts with the check. The table behind us, it was a guy and his mom, he had asked probably 3 times for some bread or something because his mom was diabetic and wasn't feeling that great. It had been about 15-20 minutes and no one brought them anything. I asked again for them when we were leaving. I felt bad for them. Im not sure if they were short staffed, or if they aren't used to it being so busy because of Mother's Day. But, hopefully the service is better normally. read more

Found this spot while looking for an Indian food spot near the Oakland airport and found the food here pretty decent. Love India Palace! It's a drive from the east end, but never disappoints! Great food and great service!

Good food but service is lacking. We were seated quickly but not given any menus. After a few minutes another server brings over 1 menu and drink menu. After the food was brought out, the person from kitchen that brought didn't say which dish was what. So just had to guess at which was which. The chicken tikka masala and Karahi chicken both kind of tasted the same. The Karahi was kind of like a butter chicken at other places. The plain naan, garlic naan and garlic naan were all good. Server didn't come by to check on anything after food was dropped off. Not sure if will be back based off of service. read more

Delicious food. Colleagues and I enjoy the lunch buffet. Friendly and professional staff. Restaurant is clean and organized.

My darling girlfriend suggested we try this place so we door dashed all the usual suspects: Samosas, naan, tikka masala, biryani...we even left it on the porch for 20 minutes and the food was still hot and delicious. India Palace seems to have had some crap reviews due to issues like less than stellar service or incomplete orders with DoorDash. To that I say balderdash! The food was exceptional, order was complete and carefully packed. Five fat gold stars all day. It might have been our first time eating here, but won't be the last. P.S. Flush that ozempic- They have a lunch buffet!!!! Yeah, I said it. LUNCH BUFFET!!!! read more

Yummy place. I think I remember having a buffet at this location and it was well worth it. For the recent visit. The experience was okay. A bit expensive for what we received. Vibe is nice. Home vibe with nice dark essential decor. Very spacious. Service is straight forward, took a while for the staff member to check on us but that's fine. We went for Meat samosas Chicken tikka masala Chicken biryani Garlic naan And a mango lassi. Rose as well The tikka masala was very subtle and flavourful. Not spicy at all. Rice very good and big pieces of chicken. read more

I have been on this crazy Indian buffet craving for weeks now and was super happy to find this spot close to Oakland. It is rare to find restaurants that still offer buffet so this was a gem. The interior is sun filled and bright which I enjoyed, and had many selections. I only have this a 4 star as the salad and dessert bars were lacking for the price. Dessert would be just fruit, no kheer like I've seen at other places, just gulab jamun. I did enjoy that they had chai available, and nice appetizers such as samosa, but I would generally prefer if all dishes were more spiced and spicy. I would definitely return for the proximity, but it is not going to be the best tasting dishes for Indian food. read more

Been a while and been craving for some Indian food. Appreciate their outdoor seating option which was nice and with the heat lamp, it was great! Though we were the only one, they made sure to check in on us which we appreciated. 5 star customer service! The food was overall good but it did taste like there's been modification from about a year ago as I prefer it to have some stronger spice flavor. The lamb palak tasted like before, but the tikka masala was a little too sweet and didn't have the spice taste of a tikka masala that I was hoping for. It's possible they need to cater to the masses. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years, and we absolutely love the food. Unfortunately, this review is specifically about one young male server whose behavior has consistently been rude. We visited on Christmas Eve, and while the restaurant was understandably busy, the situation was handled poorly. Because of the amount of food we ordered, we briefly used an additional table. Without explaining, the server began moving our dishes. When I asked why, he rudely said he needed the table for other customers. This kind of behavior has happened more than once, which is disappointing given how much we enjoy this place. The food is still excellent--10/10--but the service from this particular server was unacceptable. read more

I came back after two decades and I found the food as tasty as before. It's a very cute and clean restaurant and the waitress greeted me warmly upon arrival. I ordered the Tandoori Mix Grill and I love the chicken and shrimp and lamb was a little dry and needed a little more marination or a bit more garlic to balance the lamb aroma. I will definitely stop by in future if I am in the area and we will try their buffet. I highly recommend it to anyone that crave for Indian food in Alameda. read more

Ordered food on 4/14/26, the food was old. Reached out to Uber eats, they took my complaint. I called spoke with the front desk and the supervisor was to call me back, did not receive a call back. Spent over $180.00. I've gone to this restaurant for over 10 years. This was not my only time paying over $150.00, I just took the hits. This was my 3rd try,I cannot go back anymore, this was a big hit because food prices are up and thought I can contribute keeping a restaurant open. Solid 4-star Indian spot. We usually get mango lassis, papadam, naan, veggie pakora, lamb curry roganjosh, and polak paneer. The accuracy on the orders has gotten much better over time. They used to make mistakes on our order. Now that doesn't happen anymore. We love the outdoor dinning area, which became popular in the post-covid era. Parking is pretty easy. Its not that hard in that area. Service is average. read more

Been going here for 20 years. Some of the same staff have been there the entire time. My go to is their chicken tikka masala.

I was in the mood for Indian food so I went after a long time. The last time was so bad, I really did not want to go. But sometimes you are just in the mood. I don't know what has changed, but it was a lot better and they have reopened their buffet! I think it is much better that the when I went 3 years ago and not overly salty like I remembered. Worth the price. Just wish they offered the buffet week long rather than a few days a week. read more

We sat outside in the patio for lunch. Between 4 women, we had an eggplant curry, a cashew paneer, garlic naan, saffron rice, & channa marsala. We even had leftover to bring home. Our collective fave was the paneer! The okra dish was on the spicier side and the eggplant was a little salty. We all liked the naan. We will def return for the paneer! Service was pretty straight forward, nothing notable to praise or knock. Our server was pretty timid but helped us when we needed! read more

Ordered food for delivery with Door Dash this evening. Food came within the estimated time but there was one of the entrees we ordered missing from the delivery. Okay, mistakes happen sometimes but this is the 4th time this has happened with both delivery and pick up. I personally LOVE Indian food, but this one was highly disappointing. I ordered chicken tiki masala and had to wait almost a HOUR for my food, I tasted it and the food was basically cold. In the middle of me eating, I found a long black hair strand in my food there is absolutely NO hygiene in this place. The server HIMSELF was also an ABSOLUTE JERK. Every time I encountered him, he acted like it was the end of the world. PLUS THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT is pure RUCKUS! And while my husband was eating he saw a white fuzzy piece in his food and it was SPIT. SPIT?? I would never eat here again its basically a complete DUMP. HIGHLY disappointed! read more

Dropped by here for an early dinner before an event at Oakland Arena. We started off with the veggie samosas, and split the vegetable biryani and vegetarian sabzi. Everything was delightful. The samosas were a generous size and piping hot. The chutneys - spicy green and sweet tamarind - were delicious. I loved the biryani, the rice was fluffy and the curry, spiced vegetables and cashews were so good. The sabzi had chunks of potatoes, cauliflower, onions and peppers. And of course our garlic naan, an absolute must! Patio is very cute, our server was attentive and friendly, and the place is very clean. A solid choice for Indian fare. read more
