Like many others, also my go-to sushi spot in the area. Dependable, consistently good and fresh sushi, and on time. I think the omakase is a great value, but all their other rolls/dishes are great. We usually do a 3 roll combo and when we're feeling fancy we do the omakase. Highly recommended! read more

It is so beautiful inside this establishment. They have really put n hard work to make it great & it shows. The prices are a little high but because the restaurant is so gorgeous, you get what you pay. It's excellent sushi, big rolls & excellent delicious dishes. So I love avocado rolls but HATE seaweed. I was on the hunt to find a sushi spot that allows customizations so I could sub the seaweed out. Came across this place and figured I'd give it a shot. There are closer sushi spots to me that also use soy wrapper but their reviews weren't as promising. On top of that, this place also allows a ton of other customizations on their sushi and other dishes. Pricing is pretty good- although their edamame seemed to be double the price compared to the spots by me. There are def more expensive places though so no complaints really. I have had the avocado rolls, roasted peanut avocado rolls, veggie udon stir fry, veggie gyoza, and the beef negimaki from here. theyre all tasty (although i did get a chunk of fat in my very last negimaki bite which i was glad was the last bite and not the first but also, couldve done without!). i have done takeout and delivery. delivery took about 45 mins, maybe a bit more, on a friday night around 7pm. Takeout was speedy. All in all, I really enjoy this place and am glad to have found it. Thinking of trying the hibachi dish next time because I love hibachi but don't have anywhere local to get it. read more

Servings are massive, food is delicious, prices are reasonable, but the service is hit or miss. Overall: a great find. I've tried their sashimi entree and all the seafood was fresh and the cuts were the perfect size. The volcano roll was such a great deal with all the seafood--they don't skimp here! And it was all fresh and tasty--easily my favorite dish from my visit. I also tried the soft shell crab appetizer and while it was larger than expected, it was just okay. Service, as mentioned, is hit or miss. My first visit was perfect as they were attentive and kept refilling my water and checking on me. My second visit was weird in that the never refilled my water and I had to ask for soy sauce for my sushi (this after being on the phone for a while even after getting my food, and waiting for my soy sauce to arrive). Great place for authentic Japanese food overall. I'll return. read more

Well worth it's price!! The everything platter was enough for ~5 people, but would reccomend getting a few additional rolls on the side to really hit the spot. The sashimi was fresh and tasty, and the rolls/sushi had decent ratio of fish to rice. Definitely recommend this place, I will be returning for sure read more

Decided to give this place another chance since it was my favorite in 2021. At some point they changed management and my husband and I were rather disappointed but then they changed it again and it was definitely for the better. Just went on 12/2/22 and the staff was fantastic and the sushi was wildly good. Super fresh and just a great experience overall. Highly recommend for quality sushi night! Why wasn't this place packed?!?! My husband and I were vendors at Sex Expo last weekend and staying in Brooklyn close to the expo center. Looking for good dinner after a long day, this place had good reviews and the menu looked promising. We went on Saturday around 8. It wasn't very full, tons of people were getting take out though! Food was fast and excellent, we both did the Hibachi menu. Decent wine list, great service. If we lived there, it would be a regular spot. When we come back next year, we will go again! Stopped in for lunch and got the salmon teriyaki bento. The bento was huge and the food was really delicious. They give a roll with the bento lunch, and usually most places will give yoy a plain California roll, but at Kanahashi they gave a spicy tuna roll! That's definitely a plus to me! This was my go to spot in greenpoint until today. The quality of the fish really went down. I ordered a sashimi and sushi lunch special. The tuna was inedible, the salmon looked gross. Also, white tuna was served as one of the pieces which is known to be toxic and the cheapest quality fish you can possibly find. Today's meal makes me not want to eat sushi for a while. This is a really solid neighborhood spot in person or delivery based on my first order. I will be trying more from the menu. Yellowtail collar is not always on the menu - definitely try this, they do it well. Salmon belly and yellowtail belly are nice pieces. Rock shrimp tempura has great flavor. Staff is very unreliable. I put in an online delivery order for a sashimi dinner at 8:30 pm and after one and a half hour I called and the person who picked up said she just received the order. She mentioned that sometimes the internet is slow and was the reason they just got the order. I find it hard to believe they received the order at the same time I called and did not own up to the fact that they flat out missed it. She offered a free dessert for the trouble. However, she said it would've taken another 45 mins for the food to come so I cancelled the order entirely. They lost all credibility in my book. read more

Ok we ordered 4 things and only liked 2 out of 4 things. The calamari salad was delicious and the Godzilla roll was also amazing. The creme mushroom soup was awful, I tried to like it but just couldn't manage to eat it. I told our server that if she'd be able to replace it for another since I wasn't enjoying it- she said "no, you already had some". ( I had two spoons of that god awful soup) , the pink lady roll was mediocre at best. It's supposed to be shrimp tempura and I got what looked like mush inside I didn't even bother telling her that I didn't like it.
