    Scallop! So good so tender

10/10 would recommend! The staff was sooooo attentive and nice. The chef explained each piece of sushi for the omakase and they have an iPad to show the fish or the cut of fish. It was really cool! They also used a special food to sear the fish and the effects were so dramatic. Dinner and a show! Very nice experience overall !

As my first omakase experience I had a wonderful time. The staff is extremely kind, knowledgeable about the fish being served, and attentive. Throughout the experience you are shown pictures of the fish you are eating and given details on where they're found, the taste, and popularity of it. The inside of the restaurant is small and intimate, the food was amazing, and overall I had a great time and would definitely be back.

Came here for my anniversary dinner and had a lovely time! The customer service was phenomenal - we arrived early for our reservation and they offered to seat us early and from that point our waitress was extremely helpful. She helped us decide what sake to order as she let us sample two flavors. She also remained in the area so if we had any questions or concerns she could assist immediately. We ordered the seasonal omakase which was $150 per person. I can't remember all the different things we ate but it was a really nice touch that for each course they showed us a picture of the fish we were eating. Some of the things we ate were snapper, scallops, shrimp, tuna, salmon, and much more. The menu is super curated and our chef had great attention to detail but kept up with our speed as each time we finished one course he was almost done preparing the next one. He was kind and offered to adjust the soy sauce and wasabi ratio which was considerate. As far as constructive feedback I would suggest more maintenance with the bathroom as it's only one stall being shared for everyone there and it can get quite messy fast. The staff here was pleasant and really help to provide a luxe experience. Overall I enjoyed my time and I absolutely recommend.

I came here for dinner one evening and had a great time. The inside of the omkase room is comfortable and casual, but still nice. There's a bar section, but also two booths for you to sit at if you choose. We ended up choosing to sit at their booths. We came at 7pm on a Wednesday evening and there was still plenty of space, so you could definitely do a walk-in here. We chose their original omakase set, which included 1 appetizer, 13 nigiri, and 1 kaisendon for $100. We also got a carafe of sake. Everything was great. My favorites of this omakase set were their botan ebi, miso black cod, and uni kaisendon. We also decided to follow up with an otoro handroll and uni nigiri. Loved those pieces and thought that they did them really well. This spot is more traditional (less innovative with their pieces/garnishes) and has a bigger focus on white fish. With each piece, we were shown a powerpoint and picture of the fish. Staff was great. Cool experience, and good omakase in Williamsburg!

I wasn't disappointed at all. While the pieces were on the smaller side, it's honestly rare to find a spot that offers omakase for lunch! One detail I really appreciated was the host showcasing pictures of the whole fish and the name of each piece during the courses. Usually, I just smile and nod without fully knowing that I'm eating (a little shy about it! I know I'm not the only one), so this made the experience so much more engaging and educational. It was such a fun way to celebrate my birthday with close family and friends. The surprise complimentary cake was such a thoughtful touch too! Everything from the service to the food was just wonderful. I apologize if I mixed up a couple of the fish names in the caption but I was trying to savor every bite - it all flew by so quickly. I could have gone for a whole second round!

Delicious omakase in Williamsburg! Came here for their lunch tasting menu $68 for 10 courses. Everything was really solid, and I especially enjoyed the otoro and uni rice bowl with gold on top. What was unique about this place was they show you pictures of each fish you are about to eat as they serve it, which added to the experience for me. They also gave my friend a slice of matcha cake on the house for her birthday, which was very sweet! The service was incredible and the workers were so nice too. My only note was that a lot of the bites didn't stand out to me. It seemed like they were trying to be experimental, but everything still tasted pretty traditional. For the price point, there are other omakases I like better in the city, but this is definitely a solid choice that is easy to book in Williamsburg! :)

TLDR: I'm pretty surprised I haven't left a review yet as I've been to this omakase place more than any other (4x in the past year and for a reason)! It's a great price for the quality and quantity of fish and sushi you get ($150 for seasonal, $100 for regular- each with 13 pieces + appetizers and or dessert/hand roll) and the sushi chefs are always super informative and kind. SETTING: the restaurant is a typical omakase spot with a long bar as well as some booth like tables. Unlike some other omakase spots the bar is sufficiently spacious that you're not sitting on top of your neighbor. Darker decor and dimmer lighting makes this a great spot for dinner, a date, catching up with friends, etc. FOOD: I have no complaints about the quality and quantity of sushi here. The fish is always super fresh and delicious as is the rice. I especially love the appetizers (always changing). The rice CAN be on the slightly smaller side but not small enough to complain about. Also for $150 you get 3 appetizers, 13 pieces of sushi, a hand roll and dessert! SERVICE: the service here is always top notch. The sushi chefs are super nice and they show you pictures of each type of fish you are eating. VERDICT: this is my go to omakase restaurant as Williamsburg doesn't have many options, but the quality, quantity and service make this a great choice. I will certainly be back :)

My boyfriend made reservations for dinner on a Saturday night. We had the seasonal omakase. The staff was so attentive and will show us photos of the fish. We enjoyed the food a lot but a point off because it didn't seem like a huge variety and too many charred pieces that made them taste similar. We did enjoy the plum wine a lot and the ambiance. The black cod was my fave piece.

Came here twice and both times the fish was very fresh and they don't put a lot of toppings to show the true freshness of the fish. The sushi chefs are super nice and always want to make sure you are having a good time. This place won't rush you out. If you want different fish call in advance to see if they can get it for you. Most fish here is white fish, not as much tuna.

Was in the mood for omakase and randomly found this place and had high ratings, so decided to give it a try. Was able to book a late reservation for two. Was not disappointed. Every bite of the omakase was sooo good. The nigiri were all so fresh and the servers show you a pic of the fish you eat. We also ordered a glass of the sake (the one with the pear note) and it was dangerously smooth. Best omakase we've had. We only tried the classic omakase but def plan on coming back to try the seasonal omakase with more pieces. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend if you love omakase and want to try a new spot! The service was wonderful, the server was polite and the sushi chef provided an explanation of each course. The fish is so fresh! 15 course for $100 was truly worth it for the quality of fish. A couple highlights: - The uni portion was extremely generous - The ebi shrimp was perfectly sweet - The squid - I've never tasted anything like it before, it was delicious - Tuna melted in your mouth I also got an uni handroll supplement, it was $30 but again, a very generous portion.

Excellent!!! Fabulous service and friendly staff. We went for the smaller omakase but in the end wish we went for the full one since it was SO GOOD we wanted more! Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

The meat is just absolutely perfect...melt in your mouth, moderately seasoned and delicate enough to put it all together with the noodles. The establishment is a bit smaller so it is recommended to get a reservation beforehand. But walkins are also welcomed I suppose. They have a high top area that is nice for having a front row seat to the action in the kitchen. Th music is good but random haha. Service was good the first time. But could've been better my second visit.

Had dinner at Za-Ya in Brooklyn and tried the Gyukotsu Miso Ramen ($19), Saba ($12), Saikoro Steak…read more($14), and the Cucumber starter ($8). The ramen was everything you want in a bowl -- a hearty, beef bone marrow broth with layers of flavor, bouncy chewy noodles, and an egg cooked perfectly. The short rib inside was extremely tender, and the toppings of fried garlic, green onions, and wood ear mushrooms added even more depth. The saba (miso-braised mackerel) was another highlight: extremely tender and moist, probably the best-prepared mackerel I've had, with a miso sauce that complemented it perfectly. The saikoro steak came as chunky, tender bites with a soy-vinegar garlic sauce that tied it all together beautifully. And the cucumber starter was cold, refreshing, and carried a nice spicy kick. Za-Ya nails Japanese comfort food with care and balance. The ramen and saba alone are worth the trip, and the sides round out a very satisfying meal.
