I just so happened to find out about Aloha Kettlecorn because Jen M. recently left a review & I saw it on my Yelp homepage under 'recent activity' for places nearby. Fate? I think so! I found out that they were posted at the Kula Country Farm's pumpkin patch and I already planned to go this weekend. Once we got there, I made a bee line to their food truck and I got the Salted Caramel soft serve ice cream. Now, let me preface this by saying that I love sweets, aaaall kinds of sweets. However, I've never really been too big on soft serve ice cream or popcorn. Why I got soft serve ice cream -- no idea. I feel like I just had little menehunes whispering in my ear "get it, get it, get it" and now my life has changed. Once I got a big spoonful of all that salted caramel goodness, I didn't want it to end. Wow! From the caramel drizzle to the salted caramel popcorn that topped the soft serve, it was all so perfect. I'm obsessed! I want more! My husband got their acai bowl which was preeeetty big and it was full of so much goodness according to him. He said it's probably one of the best acai bowls he's had on the island. So, two thumbs up for the acai bowl! Before we left the patch, we ended up getting the salted caramel (their last bag!!) and sweet & salty kettlecorn. I'm already halfway done with my not-so-medium sized bag and will be super sad once it's all gone. Really, it's that good! I asked them where they're normally located and they don't have a permanent spot, but do events around the island. I think starting November though they will be somewhere in Makawao.. 2 days a week. The customer service is awesome, Elias and his wife are super nice! My favorites are the organic coconut and the cookies & creme because come on, anything with oreos are the BEST!! We just recently also went to 4th Friday in Kihei where they have a food truck. They sell their kettlecorn and also delicious their soft serve!! It was the first time we had the soft serve. SOOO yummy! We got the "Matcha Kapua bowl" which also had mango, pineapple, and strawberries, and granola. For $6, it was a great deal! There is also an Acai bowl and a pitaya bowl! You can also add pa`i`ai, which of course we had to because, we part Hawaiian and das how we do ;) They also offer "Aloha Bowls" which are their soft serve ice cream without all the extras on it. I too was that person and Honolua Farms was never listed in any articles that I read but it out performed every other banana bread that I had tried throughout my trip. This was by far the BEST and my favorite banana bread in all of Maui. If you like coconut this is the place for you. The edges of the bread are caramelized giving it extra sweetness and topped with coconut shavings. This stand can be quick to miss if you're driving too fast but it's in a very cute area with a lot of nature that you can walk around in across the street and visit the locals (aka the chickens) that roam around. I loved this place so much I had come went to Safeway to buy tupperware to bring some home. 10/10 recommend.

I was craving an agua fresca. They had many options listed on their menu and was excited to try the cucumber, but they only had horchata and strawberry horchata available. I ordered the strawberry horchata. I was expecting horchata with strawberries in it or maybe strawberry puree. It must've been powdered strawberry because it was the color of pepto bismol and tasted like watered down strawberry nesquik. It wasn't very cold either. Didn't drink it. I wanted an elote, but they didn't have those available either. They only had equites. I ordered one and the flavor was just ok. It tasted like canned corn. Makes sense since they didn't have corn on the cob. I bought a bag of duros, which were prepackaged (not made by them). But I don't know how old they were because they were so stale. They went straight in the trash. Lastly, I had a mangonada, which was actually pretty tasty. It didn't taste like fresh mango at all, but the flavor was good. I haven't had any of their other food items, but I don't think I'll be returning. This experience turned me off.

That being said, I was disappointed that she didn't feel a refund was appropriate because the shave ice itself wasn't the issue. We never had a problem with the shaved ice it was the way we were treated that made the experience so upsetting. We were first-time visitors and simply asked what the snow cap was because we weren't familiar with it. Instead of feeling welcomed, we left feeling embarrassed. There were no other customers there at the time, so it was unexpected to be spoken to that way. She mentioned that she wished we had said something while we were there, and I understand that. But after the interaction, we honestly just wanted to leave. Since we're only visiting Maui and are already in Hana, coming back isn't really an option for us. I do appreciate the apology, but I wish there had been a little more understanding that customer service is just as important as the product itself. My hope is simply that future customers are treated with a little more kindness than we were.

The oat milk taste wasn't too strong which is good since that's typically what turns us off from it. Like any food truck in the Maui Swap Meet, you'll have to pay a small fee to get in but it's a quarter per person for entry so that's not much of an issue. Parking is good and the food truck isn't very difficult to find on the grounds. Definitely a great option for anyone wanting a cool drink on a hot day in the market.
