The fruit was fresh and the presentation was beautiful. It tasted as good as it looks.

I heard amazing things about Maui Fruit Truck on social media and couldn't wait to try it! Fruit is my jam, especially pineapple! The location was easy to find, right off the highway. The outside seating area is minimal but super cute and quaint. They have about 3 tables with overhead sun coverage and 1 chess board. There was only one worker taking orders and cutting the fruit so be patient when arriving, you may have to wait to order while she's preparing another order. We ordered the pineapple bowl with only pineapple and mango. You can pick and choose the fruit you want and the worker will let you know what's available and in season. The presentation is amazing , fun and instagrammable but if I'm being honest the fruit left much to be desired. The pineapple was sour and the mango was lacking flavor. Usually when we come to Maui we can't get enough of their Pineapple so this was super disappointing . Although, I heard there is a pineapple shortage this year and perhaps this is why. Because of this,I can't give them 5 stars but I'd be willing to come back another time to see if the fruit improves. If you're looking for good vibez and something fresh on a hot day this is the place. But I wouldn't expect the best fruit of your life.

Pineapple with Mango

The fruit from this truck is absolutely amazing! Everything was so fresh, sweet, and full of flavor. The pineapple was juicy and perfectly ripe, the mango melted in my mouth, and the orange slice added the perfect citrus touch. They even serve it beautifully inside a pineapple shell, delicious!!! You can really taste the difference compared to store-bought fruit--this is tropical fruit at its best. Refreshing, vibrant, and the perfect snack on a warm Maui day. If you're visiting the island, you definitely need to stop here!

I always enjoy mango sticky rice, but this one was so spot on, the mango was perfectly ripe!

Our server (older gentleman) was the best, he was funny and very knowledgeable when it come to the menu. The pizza is AMAZING, def try the pizza. The pasta (pesto sauce) was sooooo yummmm. You can def taste how fresh the pasta is. Everything was so good we came back the next night LOL. The staff ever remembered us which was sweet. This was our favorite dinner spot and so excited to come back on our next trip to Maui. After having burrata here I won't be able to have it anywhere else haha. The hazelnut gelato was also very delicious, very fresh.

But we didn't. And it was due to logistical decisions made by staff. Let me explain... We had a 7:15pm reservation but arrived to a large crowd waiting out front and no one at the hostess stand. We were able to check in closer to 7:30. I felt assured when Qiana politely told an impatient patron that she had to seat those with reservations first. But that party of four, and others, were seated before us. After 40+ minutes waiting, Qiana apologized for a table that was lingering and asked if we wanted to wait for a table upstairs or be seated on the crowded lanai (with several young children) or wait a bit for a table upstairs. I chose upstairs. We waited for that lingering party to depart; no one left. Then 15-20 minutes later, we were seated upstairs. That was one hour after our reservation at 8:15pm. The logistical decisions and bad luck continued because there was a large party of ~10 also seated upstairs and they took priority over us. Our entrees arrived 45 minutes later (9pm by now). By this time, my family was very hungry and a little mad at the situation. I felt disrespected for the circumstances. The staff was nice, but actions were speaking louder than words. I usually rave about food in my reviews, but the long wait and how situations were handled (there were more I'm not describing) colored our special evening out and how the bites were received. Our evening at Sale Pepe turned out to be a low light, instead of the highlight I expected, from our Maui holiday.

I started off with a drink IN A CERAMIC PIG. Like, what could be better?? Hubs and I shared a fantastic nacho plate for our lunch, then asked about a dessert menu. Our server said there was only one option, but it was great. She did not exaggerate. It was a sweet Hawaiian bread, fried, with some more sweetness (glaze?) and nuts. So. Good. As we finished, we asked what it was called again, and it remains nameless. It's just there, she said. So go to Coco Deck and get dessert.

I told her we need more chairs so she said it would be a bit longer which was fine. Ordered two mahi mahi entrees and a kids burger. Food was ok. Kids burger was dry with no sauce provided other than hot sauce. The fish was ok. I was helping feed my son and the waitress comes by and tries to take my plate away. I told her I was still working on it and she put it down and walked away. We asked to order ice cream. Waited about 20-30 mins and she never came back to bring the dessert. Finally we asked her again and she brought it out. We asked for the bill when the ice cream finally came out and again we waited probably another 10 mins before she brought the check. When we were ready to pay, she scanned our card and waited while we selected tip. We said we would pay tip in cash. This rude waitress stood by us waiting for us to hand her the cash tip. WHO DOES THAT!!! This lady was so rude and I would highly recommend finding another place to eat because there are so many better options. Whoever runs this place should really invest in customer service training for their employees...
