If you're really wanting the good stuff..go here, missing authentic Mexican food in Hawaii. This truck has the goods! amazing service, our host Glendia (?) explained she was from Guatemala and taught us some helpful words and made a lot of effort to help us and converse so we got exactly what we wanted. Such a doll, we have to come back again before we fly out

This is worth the flight

I stumbled around Wailuku, spotted the food trucks from afar. On my flight, I was told to eat at the trucks instead of restaurants. I found a path beneath the bridge, and first read a menu for an insane ice cream and dessert truck; not what I want. I walked a bit further to discover JJ, read the menu and to my surprise, the jovial man serves Quesabirria! That's all I needed to know. I sat and waited while listening to the top 40 pop music playing at the next truck. A convenient, state of the art plastic and steel bench was comfortable enough to enjoy every cosume soaked bite of my 2 Quesabirria Tacos with a handful of chips. Birria is always the best thing on the menu. Eat more Birria to be Happy. Luckily, I was the only order that minute, got my food as fast as he could prepare it. Well done, JJ. Thank you. Worth the walk.

I really wanted to love this place, since it's close to home and easy to get to, in a small food truck park with plenty of shade-covered seating...and I definitely love Mexican food, the spicier the better. Hoping I caught them on an off day but I couldn't finish my order (quesabirria plate with rice and beans plus horchata). The tacos themselves were good, with a generous amount of stewed birria that was rich and tender with plenty of melty cheese, and the fried corn tortilla shells had a nice crunch. The filling seemed a bit bland to me, which the accompanying consommé (leftover stewing liquid, for dipping) didn't seem to enhance; some fresh chopped onions, cilantro, and serrano or jalapeño peppers would have been a huge improvement. The rice was good. My biggest issue was the beans, which were so salty that I barely ate any of them, a huge disappointment since I love beans. The horchata was just right, though. I will try them again next time I'm in the area.

Owner is a great positive gentleman! His Quesa Birria comes with two tacos and so far is my favorite spot for Birria tacos! Don't just take my word for it, try it, you won't regret it.

The carnitas burrito was spectacular!!! Only warning would be is that they chop up jalapeños so it packs some heat.

We came here after spending the day in Napili beach. Location is great, ambiance is pleasant,…read moreservice is fantastic. As we walked in, we were greeted immediately and asked if we preferred high tables in the bar area or dining and were seated right away. We ended up choosing to sit by the bar and were greeted by our server/bartender timely. We ordered chips and salsa, chips were warm and crisp to perfection salsa was super good! We ended up ordering the burrito, enchiladas and garlic shrimp. Everything was really good BUT the garlic shrimp was to die for! Definitely worth the $40! The sauce, the serving, the size of the shrimp...just amazing. And our server made our visit such a pleasant experience. I'd also like to add, well kept restrooms for customers say so much about an establishment. Highly recommend this place!

First, way, way overpriced for what you get. It feels they are banking on being near resorts with…read morelimited food options that are sit down. But, we stayed. We have been traveling for many hours and wanted to eat before going out our hotel to sleep. We decided on chips and salsa and to share a quesadilla. The salsa came out pink. It looked like pink pasta sauce. Taste wise it was ok and tasted like salsa, but was missing the crisp cilantro I like in a salsa. The quesadilla had mozzarella cheese I think and didn't taste Mexican. Overall still edible, but lacked the flavors I was looking for. Overall ditch it and get pizza across the street. It isn't worth it .

Banana Cream pie is the best treat on the island. The other pies are also good and come in good…read moreshareable portions.

I did a little bit of research before visiting Maui, and via a few social media videos and…read morearticles, Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop turned up a few times. Being British, the wife and I like a meat pie and saw this was one of the main things the café is known for. On our trip up to Lahaina, we decided to stop by and see what it was like. There was a line out the door (good sign), and pinned to the door was a note letting people know what things they'd sold out of (chicken pie and something I can't remember). We decided to get in line and see if it was worth the wait. It was full inside, and some people sat at the limited places outside. We ordered a meat pie each, plus a coconut cream pie as a treat. Luckily for us, some seats inside became available and swooped in! The meat pie was really, really good. It was packed with meat, a little bit of potato, and thick gravy held it all together with a great consistency. The pie was made in a small pot, so only had pastry on the top, but it was tasty and tasted as if there was a hint of cheese in it. The pies are a good size, so either share or bring a big appetite. The coconut cream pie was also great. The cream on top of thick custard and sprinkled coconut flakes was delicious. Long story short, this became one of our favorite places to visit (3 visits!) The best time to visit is outside of the mad lunch surge, and try to swing by around 3pm. It's quieter; you get served quickly, so you can sit back and relax. The wait staff was generally ok, although we did once have a server who didn't look happy serving anyone. The décor is simple, and the place seemed well kept. There's plenty of parking outside, although it can be problematic getting back out on the main road if you're heading South, as the main exit forces you north. Tip: travel the road behind Leoda's called "Olowalu Village Rd" and follow it south. It will take you to a junction which was much quieter and easier to get out to return to the 30 southbound. Overall, a decent experience with delicious pies worth a detour for. Will return if we're ever back in Maui.
