My Serpentine belt was going on my 2003 Chev Avalanche and I called around to shops, Speedy Muffler…read moreand Midas Muffler would take the job but would only do it if I bought a belt from them. I explained I already picked up the belt from GM and didnt need to purchase the belt from them. They said they could not do the work, having to leave Vancouver to head back North I started to call around. I found John from Gord's Auto repair. He not only got me in right away but his cost for doing the labour work was less than any shop I called. He had no problem putting on a GM Belt bought from the dealership. Thanks John and staff for an outstanding job. Will see me in the future when I am down your way once again. Thanks Brian

It's been awhile since I needed anything to fix in my car, but when I do, I'm so thankful that this…read moreplace is here. This auto repair shop used to be located closer to Olympic Village, but now is on Clark Drive. The service and price over the years have been beyond outstanding! Steve and John are friendly, courteous, and very knowledgeable in anything related to cars. They will give you advice when your unsure and it is always on point. When I even had a question related to changing the battery on my car fob, they were their to help. Another thing I like is that you are just dealing with one person. The service and price to fix your car is very reasonable and they don't overcharge. Other places are compartmentalized so your always redirected to another department before you even get to the repair shop and you don't ever talk to the actual person who knows cars. There isn't a big lot to park your car, but when I go there, I normally just park on the side street. I definitely will come back to this place in the future!

Consider this scenario: Imagine you took your car to a repair shop, paid $337 for changing the…read moreplugs, only to have your car break down again just four days later. How frustrating does that sound? They will charge you, not fix the problem so that you come back and later will say sorry to compensate the frustration. Here's what happened: On January 19th, my car was stalling, so I went to Vancouver Auto Centre (VAC) and got charged $175 for diagnosis fees (excluding change of plugs). I didn't question it, considering it an emergency fee due to the short notice. Between January 19th and February 13th, I only drove the car for four days, fearing more expenses, and started using an electric bike instead. On February 13th, the car stopped, requiring a boost from BCAA. Then, on February 15th, the car started stalling again, and I took it to All Care Auto, recommended by a friend, who changed the alternator and battery for $867. As it turned out, an alternator problem caused more issues than initially apparent. VAC charged a hefty $175 for diagnosis, excluding labour hours, which should have identified the alternator issue, potentially saving my $600, excluding three hours of my time. Such a diagnosis is usually applied when standard procedures fail to pinpoint the problem. I've learned the hard way about garage practices. I discussed it with VAC, but they said they would not charge me the diagnostic fees again if I went back!! how funny!! They would charge me more than All Care auto did and might not fix the problem in the second place. Given the nature of my job, finding a reliable mechanic around downtown Vancouver for immediate assistance seems challenging. While I can't vouch for All Care Auto beyond this one experience, as I have used them only once, they have a good online reputation.
