Kal Tire - How far away you'd have to be to not see the racket of smoke these guys have blowing around

Kal Tire

Outstanding experience with Kal Tire Clark…read more I came in with a tire pressure warning on run-flats. The manager checked out my wheels and noted the lower pressure on one tire; an appointment was booked for the following day. The next day, the Kal Tire staff tracked down an elusive leak near my rim and dealt with it. Zero charge for some reason. I understand that there was no shop materials used but there certainly was time spent. However, even after I protested (that I should pay), they resisted. Zero payment given but an epic review deserved!!!

This one star is out of what little benefit of the doubt I could have left in my soul about this…read moreplace. It's the epitome of a shady dealership as I watched the two people running the front completely and utterly lie to everyone who came thru the door if they even looked as if they didn't know a thing about cars, and they worked these poor people hard and had no patience for those who they were pretending to care about, yet clearly had no respect for, with speaking in their own language to talk around what needed to be understood, like it was a secret. Kamel even worked a girl so hard that as I stood listening to him try to explain the parts of the car that were not working, he himself had to "pull out the diagram for the dumb girl" BUT THEN COULD NOT LOCATE ON EITHER SIDE OF THE CHART where it was and how it was leaking because he could not show her under pressure and his throat ceased as he could barely get such lies out his mouth without feeling something he seemed to have no problem doing to everyone else. When someone came in who knew what they wanted and were talking about, he had no remembrance of anything he was instructed to do and had him refer his phone number cuz he didn't even remember instructions for what rims what went on what tires because of what was flat. DO NOT GO HERE. They are not doing. A job that can be trusted I don't even know what they did to profit more off my tires and the process but they okayed it knowingly all three with the mechanic to go ahead and do it yet on the phone with customer and you could see them all look at each other like they all just agreed on something deceptive and knew it was heard unintentionally...fn creepy.. But the tires make Sioux look better and Kurlee is happy with the performance of the tires despite the hooven hindrance highways of hell

Consider this scenario: Imagine you took your car to a repair shop, paid $337 for changing the…read moreplugs, only to have your car break down again just four days later. How frustrating does that sound? They will charge you, not fix the problem so that you come back and later will say sorry to compensate the frustration. Here's what happened: On January 19th, my car was stalling, so I went to Vancouver Auto Centre (VAC) and got charged $175 for diagnosis fees (excluding change of plugs). I didn't question it, considering it an emergency fee due to the short notice. Between January 19th and February 13th, I only drove the car for four days, fearing more expenses, and started using an electric bike instead. On February 13th, the car stopped, requiring a boost from BCAA. Then, on February 15th, the car started stalling again, and I took it to All Care Auto, recommended by a friend, who changed the alternator and battery for $867. As it turned out, an alternator problem caused more issues than initially apparent. VAC charged a hefty $175 for diagnosis, excluding labour hours, which should have identified the alternator issue, potentially saving my $600, excluding three hours of my time. Such a diagnosis is usually applied when standard procedures fail to pinpoint the problem. I've learned the hard way about garage practices. I discussed it with VAC, but they said they would not charge me the diagnostic fees again if I went back!! how funny!! They would charge me more than All Care auto did and might not fix the problem in the second place. Given the nature of my job, finding a reliable mechanic around downtown Vancouver for immediate assistance seems challenging. While I can't vouch for All Care Auto beyond this one experience, as I have used them only once, they have a good online reputation.

Had to get an oil change and read some good reviews about this place so decided to give it a try…read more Didn't need to make an appointment and the oil change took about 10 mins even though they seemed to be quite busy. Unlike some other places I have been to for oil changes they didn't up sell me on any additional product like air filters etc. They told me my vehicle could take regular oil or synthetic and it was completely my choice. All in the oil change with the synthetic oil was under 88 dollars.

Had a very disappointing experience at this shop. I came in for a second opinion based on proximity…read moreand positive reviews, but ultimately left with a very bad impression. I initially came in for an oil change and asked the owner / owner's son, Riaz, to check a few items while the car was on the hoist: the belt drive, control arms, brake fluid, and brake pads. I was completely fine paying for an inspection, and he mentioned it would be easy to check since the car was already lifted. After the oil change, I was told that all of the above items needed attention. Based on his recommendation, I authorized the brake fluid service and belt drive replacement. The old belt was never shown to me after replacement. Regarding the brakes, I was told--both verbally over the phone and in writing on the invoice--that the brake pads were 1 mm in the front and 3 mm in the rear, and that they needed to be replaced ASAP. I found this odd and questioned it, but he doubled down and assured me this was accurate. I was quoted $550 per axle, trusted the assessment, and agreed. I was also given labor quotes for the work and asked to return once I purchased the pads and control arms. The labor pricing was on the higher side, though still lower than the dealership. The parts took about a week to arrive. Once the parts came in, I called around and found another shop that beat their pricing, so I dropped the car off there instead. Midway through the day, the new shop called me to ask whether I actually wanted to replace the rear brake pads, because they measured 6-7 mm remaining and didn't understand why they were being replaced at all. I have never experienced an auto shop calling to confirm work because they believed it was unnecessary and unreasonable. That alone speaks volumes. I returned to Amin's to see if they would make things right. When I first called, I was told, "What do you want us to do? The manager isn't here and won't be back for six weeks." After pushing back, I was told to come in and discuss it. When I arrived, Mr. Amin was extremely confrontational and stated that they "only eyeball the brake thickness." I explained that I came to their shop specifically for a professional opinion, and that I had written confirmation from their invoice stating the rear pads were 3 mm, which was clearly not the case. Had I not chosen to source my own parts, I would have been charged $1,100 for brake work that was not needed. I was ultimately told to "get lost and sue me if you want." There was no attempt to resolve the issue, no accountability, and no professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. im out money for parts and labor which i never needed.
