After a terrible experience at the Fountain Tire downtown these folks have always been a breath of fresh air. Earlier today I brought my car in as one of my tires I suspected had a small leak due to the fact I'd had to pump up the tire twice in the last month. I dropped the car off and went for breakfast a couple of blocks away. Got a phone call shortly after I finished breakfast - just over an hour - that my car was ready. I was absolutely ecstatic when I got there because I found out they were successfully able to patch the tire. Buying tires is such a racket because in cases like this you need to be able to trust the shop not to try to sell you 2 new tires when the tire can be patched, which is exactly what Central Tire did for me. I was very happy only having to pay $45 to patch 1 tire as opposed to spending at least $300 or $400 to buy 2 new tires. Integrity move on their part to patch rather than scam me into buying 2 new tires. This shop is the orgasmically deliciousness of tire shops. Also, NO CHARGE for shop supplies - a rarity in the auto shop business. WOOT WOOT!

I always managed to make it there before my vehicle died, handed it to them and walked over to work on 108th st. It was ready by home time. I made it simple for them, 'if it's going to be under $500, do it. If more, call me'. I never got a call and it was always read same-day, lucky I guess! Their waiting room was busy, has a bright view of 109 st. and chairs / magazines. Some toddler playthings if your little one is getting restless, and a tv is on. I probably wouldn't bring an RV here, as there is no room, but they can handle cars and trucks just fine. If you work downtown, this is the place to go. Book an appointment!

I arrived a little early but they said that it will be done in an hour. Instead of sitting in their waiting area I went over to the nearby Bogani's café for a relaxing coffee and bagel. After 45 minutes or so I returned to Fountain Tire and could see my SUV was finished and in the parking lot. The adviser provided me with a detailed explanation of how to claim the rebate from Goodyear. He said he had already emailed me the invoice because the Goodyear site will request it. That saved me the trouble of scanning it. Getting new tires has never been simpler. They even set up the remote tire pressure sensors properly. To be fair I didn't do a lot of price comparison and no doubt there's always someplace a bit cheaper. However I have a fairly new vehicle and I wasn't looking for the cheapest place, I wanted the best place. A couple of years ago I bought new tires from their main competitor. It didn't go nearly as smoothly as this. I have no problem giving Fountain Tire five stars for tire replacement. I can't comment on other mechanical work though as I didn't have anything else done. This review is only for the 111 Street location but I had a noteworthy experience at a different Fountain Tire that I'll briefly describe as well. A number of years ago I drove an older vehicle to the Fountain Tire in Edson, Alberta because it was severely overheating. That was just before they closed at 6:00pm on a Friday afternoon. That particular Fountain Tire location went out of its way to locate the parts needed to fix the problem and did so after their normal closing time on that Friday. Because of them my family and I were able to continue on our way to the mountains rather than being stuck in Edson for the weekend, or at least the night. I guess after that you could say that I anticipate the best from this company and they've not yet disappointed me.

I originally paid for an inner tie rod repair and an alignment service as per the shop's recommendation. The exact same day I picked up the vehicle from them, there was a prominent creaking/clicking from the exact side they worked on. I had to leave for Calgary early next morning, and could not return immediately to have it addressed. As soon as I was back in town, I brought the vehicle straight back to them to have it addressed, but they completely dismissed the noise. About a month later, the outer tie rod end has developed play, resulting in clunking while driving. A part doesn't just instantly give out right after a technician finishes unbolting, and handling it while working around it. Given the immediate timing, I have a hard time believing that this is merely a coincidence. When confronted, Nav, the guy I had been dealing with, tried to distort my timeline claiming that the noise started after my trip (completely false btw), to avoid liability. He offered to cover only the basic installation labour, but refused to adjust the front toe-in/alignment required to make the car safe to drive - demanding me to pay yet ANOTHER $130 for alignment. I feel that they do not stand behind their workmanship, or take responsibility for my valid concerns, and instead expected me to pay to make the vehicle safe to drive again, even though it wasn't making any noises prior to the repair. Based on my experience, I would avoid this shop if you want peace of mind.

While I was waiting for my car, another customer came in and asked them to check her BMW. She told me she had been dealing with James for over 15 years and found them honest, excellent service and reasonably priced. While we talked for 20 minutes, the technician came out and told her there was some oil leaks and fixed it. James did not charge her a penny. I was impressed. I am going to deal with them for the years to come. I do not know Clarence personally , but I do know James is a good and honest man and a good business owner.
