Dishonest. Stay away from these guys. Clarence says on thing and does another.
I moved here from Ontario a couple months ago and needed an Out of Province Inspection done on my vehicle. I looked around online and AutoRx had great reviews so I chose them to get it inspected. They quoted me over $2000 on my 2009 vehicle, which surprised me since it was in great shape, but I'm no mechanic so I trusted them and paid for it.
During the repair process I had to leave the country for work, on short notice, but Clarence said this was no problem. My girlfriend could come pick up the vehicle and paperwork in my absence. Well she went to go pick it up when it was ready, but Clarence forgot to sign the paperwork accompanying the car. She then had to come back later that week to pick it up. But when she did, the paperwork was dated for the day the work was done, only leaving my girlfriend two days to go register my car. This was impossible for her since she works full time and couldn't make it.
Now everything up until this point could have been an honest mistake, and thats what I took it as-- no big deal, an easy fix. But here is where AutoRx show their true colours. So I call Clarence from work (still outside the country), and explain to him how my girlfriend couldn't register the car in time because he forgot to give her the signed paperwork. He said "no problem", I could just swing by when I got home and he could sign off on another one, since the car hadn't moved at all. That was the right thing to do, and I was happy with the customer service at that point.
So I come in to pick up the form...but Clarence seems to have no memory of any of this. I reminded him of our phone conversation, which finally jogged his memory, but he says he cant do it anymore. "The car will need another full inspection." I was baffled, to be honest, that someone could lie to me like that and then try to squeeze me to pay for a re-inspection. I asked how they can just go back on their word like that, but he didn't even seem to care. There were no apologies, Clarence didn't admit to any fault, and he didn't even do the decent thing and offer me a free inspection to make the situation right.
At this point I didn't want to give AutoRx another cent, so I left and went to a place down the street to get a full inspection done. The new place I went to sympathized with me and discounted the inspection to the point where it was almost free, and got it done in the same day. Wow, some good service!
But heres the best part, when the place down the street was re-doing my inspection, they said that AutoRx overcharged me in the first place. I NEVER SHOULD HAVE PAID OVER $2000 TO GET MY VEHICLE CERTIFIED. An unbiased mechanic could have done it for a fraction of the price.
So I was screwed over x2 by AutoRx, and specifically Clarence. Go to AutoRx in you dare, but they are dishonest and swindled me for over $2000. read more
