*Note: TDLR at the end of the review Homura Aburasoba: 6.5/10 Nothing mind blowing, but it hits the spot when you have the craving. The portions feel a little small compared to other places I've been (maybe I'm just a big back). Adding the additional seasonings on the table help quite a bit. Service: 6/10 They were quite busy and were stressing to get customers in and out so there wouldn't be a waitlist. The owner went up to all the tables asking customers to order from the QR menu because there were a couple people that wanted to eat, but there were no tables available. Not my favorite. Ambiance: 4/10 I gave up my table inside so a larger group could be seated. Being outside wasn't a problem at all, but the particular placement of the table is a little uncomfortable with how face to face you are with customers on the other side of the window. The table was also not level. I'm sure if you sit inside, it's perfectly fine, but this was just my experience. TDLR: I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. If it was the only thing open late, sure why not. Portions kinda small and service is okay. Sitting inside is the better option if you have the choice. Parking is easy.

Locates in a big plaza, we went during weekday lunch so there was no wait. The service is very friendly and attentive. They are specialized in Nagoya-style aburasoba, which is made with wheat noodles and soy-based sauce for soup-less ramen. - Top 1: 4.5/5. Very flavorful, with every bite you'd get a little bit of everything: from minced pork, green onion, to seaweed and bamboo shoot. - Original: 4.6/5. Recommended for first time visit!

Came by Kajiken on a Sunday night around 6pm. == FOOD == Can I just say that this was THE best abura soba that I have ever tasted???? It was seriously sooo amazing that right after the meal, my friends and I were like, "Okay, so when are we coming back?" We got 2 of the wagyu abura soba and one of the homura abura soba. We also got a Ponzu Karaage. The ponzu was just the right amount of citrus with the radish topping. The chicken was also very juicy and tender. I had the wagyu abura soba and I don't know what the yogurt sauce was, but it made the dish because it was creamy and the sauce was amazing. I did not add any vinegar, but added a TON of garlic powder and sesame seeds. My friend added vinegar to her wagyu abura soba to make it less heavy. == SERVICE == The staff were all super nice and very friendly. The odler man explained to us how to eat abura soba, and that it was a no-broth ramen. He was also very patient while we decided what we wanted. == AMBIANCE == Please go into the bathroom when you come to this restaurant in-person. The dozens of toilet paper rolls are the highlight!!! Other than that, the palce is very new and bright inside.

Mushroom aburasoba

Glad I got to try this spot! I got the mushroom aburasoba (which might be their only vegetarian option with noodles). I didn't even finish the full portion because they actually give a lot of noodles and toppings. The noodles are thick and chewy and I really enjoyed the savory sauce to mix it in. The mushrooms and spinach on top were good additions because they were seasoned and tasty. I wish the tofu was grilled or fried instead of boiled. And there are plenty of toppings. Also, at other mazemen places I've been, they give a scoop of rice to eat with at the end but here they don't do that The waiters are pretty nice and the dishes for 2 of us came out really quickly!

wanted to try this place bcos I heard fm a friend who had gone to their San Mateo location many times and gave good reviews. Went on a weekday for lunch when they just opened. inside was clean and the manager was friendly. we ordered their top 3 dishes along w the original aburasoba. All 4 ramen were fairly good but the worst dish (not bad just not to our liking) might be the most expensive one, the wagyu aburasoba. the pic looked tastier than what we received. the wagyu just didn't taste particularly special for the price. the best one was either the homura aburasoba or the original aburasoda. the taste and the noodle for those 2 suited our taste and ironically those 2 also happened to be the least expensive.

Oroshi Ponzu Karaage - big pieces, we had to use a knife to cut the pieces.

Wanted to try this place for awhile. Read some of the good reviews and it lived up to them. This place use to be a Chinese food place that served noodles and dumpling, so at first I was surprised it took over the location. Staff were friendly, and especially the lady that helped with our ordering, super friendly, and was proactive in getting us extra napkins, offering warm tea, and extra utensils. The lady knew what we wanted before we even asked. Awesome, inviting service, felt welcoming. We ordered several dishes, and the thing that stood out for me was the portion size. It was just right. Not too much, and not too little. Flavors were good, nothing overly salty, and they had extra condiments to spice up the meals if you want. The texture of the noodle is nice too, perfectly chewy and soft. Depending on your choice of egg, will make the noodles creamier or not. If you don't like poached or raw egg over your noodle, they do have the option to have Ajitama seasoned egg (kinda like the hardboiled tea eggs) in case you have someone that prefers that. Decor was nice, and the bathroom has it's own interesting personality with all the toilet paper rolls available.

Yummm had a friend recommend this place and was super excited to they opened up a location down in SoCal! I really like the noodles as it was perfectly cooked and wasn't too mushy. I think the flavors mixed pretty well and was pretty delicious. I like that the egg if you're not a fan of the egg yolk you can opt to have it cooked or poached! It definitely can get pretty busy so keep that in mind when stopping by. It's a smaller restaurant so they can only have a couple groups at a time.

Finally a true dry ramen from Japan, the real Aburasoba, open in SoCal. This is their 2nd store and was informed that more stores are opening this year. The menu is less compare to Japan and looks like adjusted to local taste. Locally sourced Ramen noodle is just the right texture. The Yogurt sauce is not strong enough. The secret sauce is not enough for me. On dry side. Even the spicy Homura is not spicy enough. Good thing they have plenty condiments. Add more Chili, Chili Oil, bit of Vinegar, crushed Garlic and sesame. Taste is up a notch and more yummy. Love the crushed garlic. Service was fast. They have more trained chef during peak hours. Otherwise it will be 1 Waiter/Server/Cashier and 1 Cook. Ambiance is modern dining. Small place at Morning Side Plaza, next to Stater Bros Supermarket. One of the best dry ramen so far.

There's so much to love about this place from the beautiful and cozy interior and the cutest grandpa that runs the place and the wide array of noodle and rice dishes!! I tried the original aburasoba and homura aburasoba and definitely enjoyed the homura more since the flavors were stronger and not spicy at all!! They also offered complimentary hot tea which definitely made the experience even better! Overall, I recommend checking this new spot out!

We went to Kajiken at opening on a Sunday. Parking was plentiful and easy. The interior was clean and cohesive. We were quickly seated by a kind man. We ordered the original and the wagyu roast beef. Both were delicious, although the sauce of the wagyu roast beef gets heavy after a while. On the table were a variety of toppings and sauces like chili oil, sesame seeds, and crunchy garlic. Overall, this was a fulfilling meal and service was helpful, quick, and attentive. We will definitely come back if we're in the area!

Love it! Great addition to the Fullerton food spots :) it popped up on my Yelp feed and we've gotten takeout from here a few times now. My current favorite is the soboro bowl but I also enjoy the original as well. Similar to Wadaya, it's a brothless noodle where you mix it all up and eat the delicious result. It's lighter and less of a flavor bomb (in a good way!) than Wadaya so if you're not in the mood for that, try Kajiken! Food is always ready quickly and you can order directly from their website. Haven't dined it yet but it's on my to do list!

Homura aburasoba

I typically don't love mazemen, BUT THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING!!! I think it's actually amurasoba, but it seemed similar to mazemen to me. I went a week ago and can't stop thinking about it. I ordered the homura aburasoba. The noodles were thick and chewy, and the flavor was very umami but not overwhelming and heavy. They have vinegar and stuff to make it lighter and more acidic, but I didn't even put any in because it was perfect as is. Inside is clean and pretty spacious. I went during early lunchtime on a Sunday and didn't have to wait to be seated. Service was friendly and fast, and I didn't have to wait long for my food. Parking is easy as it's located in a big plaza with lots of spots. I highly recommend this place. It's Michelin recognized for a reason! The only place I can compare this to is MoguMogu, and this is much better.

I live close to this strip mall and let me tell you that this very location is cursed. The past few businesses have not lasted long at all so I've seen many restaurants come and go over the years. I was excited to see ramen spot open up and the reviews looked very promising. Here's what we ordered: **Homura Aburasoba: I've had mazemen before but not aburasoba. I can say that I prefer aburasoba because of the oil based noodles. I added some chili oil, vinegar, and some chili flakes to add spice and they were great! Definitely on the saltier side with all the toppings but as a cheat meal, it was amazing! (5/5) **Original Karaage: THE ABSOLUTE BEST KARAAGE I've ever had so far. I haven't been to Japan but I can guarantee you this is as authentic as you can get. The mayo and wasabi mayo are good in their own way. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor by itself. (5/5) I saw some early reviews with people complaining about service but I came on a good day. There was a man in the front of house checking for quality control and checking up on every single guest in house. I believe that man may be the owner/head chef. It's great to see people in high positions making sure every customer has an A+ experience. I will definitely be back in the near future to dine in again or even take out. I 100% recommend Kajiken and I hope this one lasts.
