I got in an argument with one of the pharmacists at the Mail Order Distribution Center for Kaiser Pharmacy. After that, I would call in my orders and they never arrived. They refused to service me. The service is worse than awful. Rude, unsympathetic pharmacists ego driven. Previously, it took two weeks to receive medications. Sometimes they would send half and forget the rest of the order. Very bad customer service. Going on a trip. Tried to order 6 medications as I will be gone two months. 5 were sent. I was too was too early to order the. 6 th . Constant phone calls telling me they sent it but was lost in the mail. Called back refused again. I do not recommend Kaiser. People that call you have no ability to solve the problem. Kaisers mail Pharmacy. Ordered multiple prescriptions weeks before my grandfather ran out all already prescribed by the Dr. They didnt get shipped out till 1 week after he ran out of multiple RX's. Kaiser CPP Mail Order Pharmacy is where my meds are dispensed from. no need to pick up at local Kaiser location, eliminating driving, parking, waiting in line. same pricing for pickup or mail order. price of meds compared to other health plans slightly cheaper. only issue is when meds have no refills left. docs are contacted to write new prescription. when they didn't, i wasn't notified. at least not online. e-messaging is so pesky/robotic, i don't always retrieve messages. 3.5 stars convenient but not failsafe proof.. read more

I have been a Kaiser member for decades. I have never had a problem with the Mail Order Pharmacy. The website keeps track of my medication ordering, and they call me if there's a problem. The packages come via USPS. Of course Livermore is only 30 miles away from here, so it always arrives in 1-2 days. read more

Well, they were very apologetic! Needless to say, my mail order prescription from the Distribution Center had gone desperately wrong. Does this sound like an obscene exaggeration? Maybe it does, but it was exactly that. My prescription is a controlled substance that can Only be refilled by patients at the Most, ten days prior to running out. Sounds like plenty of time, right? Hardly. My Dr. has written the prescription for a specific brand, one that Kaiser foes not stock. So not only do I need submit to my Dr. the request to refill in (day ten at best), he then need authorize it, and electronically notify the Distribution Center, who then Orders it, and then, when received by them, ships it to my house via mail order. Now, if you took a second to do some basic calculation, you could probably surmise I have very little room for error on receiving this med. Please note: Missing this medication for even 12Hours starts to cause Withdrawal Symptoms equivalent to those reported by heavy alcoholics, can lead to seizures, and even death. 12 hours: time starts ticking! I receive the prescription: it is the correct med, but the wrong pharmacy manufacturer!! (I will spare you why This became So important a couple years back). Dear Gawd! Upon calling the Distribution Center, they researched What Manufacturer my prescription was filled with, along with my Dr.'s specification, and as the woman was on the line with me while she did this, a tone of urgency definitely was prominent in her voice, as she uttered, "oh no!" The Distribution Center was quick to inform me of the absolute fastest way to receive my prescription Correctly, and that was Awesome! Now, with that knowledge, I will likely do what they recommended Every time!!! --previously, on "Prescription Refills Couldn't Get Harder," I was misinformed by the brick n mortar pharmacy about duration of wait time. So this New Information was Highly Coveted! So although the messed up my med, and I will say, just this one time in many, many years, they were quick to act, and Amazingly Informative in the long run: hence 4 stars! read more

They consistently overcharge me for my prescription I get it for $10 copay when I walk in to my local Santa Clara Here they charge me $50 for no reason, and I have to call and ask for a refund, half the time they don't give it to me because they forget. Seems incredibly inefficient read more

This is almost the only way to go if you have prescriptions as a Kaiser Member. It is a great convenience, however, there are problems. 1. Delivery. Usually fairly quick except when they need confirmation from the prescriber. The problem is that often, they don't bother to tighten the caps and the tablets tend to spill out and mix with other prescriptions. Not too much a problem when the pills are different shapes, but if there are a couple of little round ones, big problem for this sexagenarian with dwindling eyesite. 2. Price transparency - Nope. They used to quote the cost before the order is final (like most if not all other internet merchants). Now, at least for us, the cost is not available. A message to them resulted in a recommendation that I call before ordering my medicine online. Not a good policy. 3. Price - Their retail price on the receipts is vastly inflated. I have found that some of my meds are cheaper if I bought them from national chains (like Walmart, Costco, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Lucky, CVS, ...). Also, the Kaiser system makes it difficult to get a hard copy to fill prescriptions elsewhere. Apparently, for the prescriber to provide a print out prescription, all prescriptions are deleted from the Kaiser Pharmacy system. You have to request your prescriber to first print out the prescriptions, then re-enter them into the system. 4. Price policy - Inscrutable! I and another member have the same exact prescription for one medication (same dosage, same size, and even same manufacturer bottles. We are in the same medical plan (CalPERS) and are in the same group, same region, and go to the same Kaiser center, and have both been members for several decades. For well over a year, I was charged double for the same prescription, then this year, I was told that the pharmacy was no longer stocking and did not recommend that prescription. The problem is that the other member continues to order and receive the prescription for half the price I was charged. 5. Convenience - Meh. It is convenient to order via internet and not have to go the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions. However, there are other plans which allow a standing order for prescriptions. Since regular prescriptions are reordered every three months, it would be a greater convenience it they did automatic renewal, particularly since they maintain credit card information on file. It is also an issue if you go on extended vacations. If you are not around to renew a prescription, it goes unfilled. They say you can call the pharmacy to refill early if you have a planned vacation, but that does not strike me as convenient. At least send an email or telephone message reminder that prescriptions are running out (We transfer our prescriptions to an organizer which holds 4 weeks of medications. Sometimes we are caught off guard when it comes time to recollate our pills. Conclusion - If you are a Kaiser member, using the mail order pharmacy is almost a no brainer. BUT, if you are shopping around for a medical plan, be sure to consider prescription service. We will likely stick to Kaiser despite its faults and middling providers (a subject for a future review), but inertia will probably keep us with Kaiser until our demise. read more

As a former Pharmacy Tech for Kaiser, I had the opportunity to tour this facility. This is one of Kaiser's shining stars. They have efficiently eliminated 99.9% of the opportunity for human error, the inventory is superb, and they are able to sort and recycle. Knowing all this, I cannot imagine refilling at a facility pharmacy. BRAVO!! read more
