This is as my first visit here and it was very nice. My college kiddo has been here a few times and thought it would be a great place to meet for a quick bite since I was in town. Limited menu, but they are in the process of updating it (according to posted signs). Bet small but we were able to grab a seat and have some nice light bites. This little spot turned out to be awesome! I went with a small group of 4 and we wanted some breakfast/ brunch. If you're looking for a cute spot, you should check it out! There is a Mexican twist to it. Great for small or large groups. They make food fresh so be patient cause it worth it! We ordered a burrito, chilaquiles plate, huevos a la Mexicana breakfast plate, huevos con chorizo breakfast plate, 2 Mazapan lattes, and 2 chocolate abuelitas. Everything was good! I actually ordered the tres leches latte but I didn't like the taste of it and let the server know. They were so nice about it and made the mazapan latte per request instead. Service was great! Very nice little hole in the wall cafe with great tasting food and a friendly server. My only to suggestions would be to not use plastic utensils from a to go type package and spruce up the dining area a bit. The dining area isn't quite as cute as the pictures, but the food is exactly as good as the pictures. Of course I forgot to take any. The tres leches latte hit the spot & was the perfect cooling counter to the chilaquiles with red sauce & carnitas. That sauce - perfectly spicy, so flavorful I wanted to lick the plate. I had never heard of this place, and now I am sad I didn't know sooner. This is a cafe with a Mexican twist, very fitting for the area. They also have a very extensive menu including sandwiches, croissants, bagels, omelets, chilaquiles!!, waffles, frappe's, pancakes, you name it! I ordered the : Marzipan frappe- This is mixed with marzipan and peanut butter and coffee, frozen. It is so tasty. Great texture and flavor. Breakfast sandwich- I got turkey instead of ham, with tomato/lettuce/Mayo. This sandwich also has a layer of refried beans. It is a huge sandwich and fantastic for the price. My find of the weekend is in my own town of Gainesville with @kairoscafega !! The flavors.... the menu.... the team running this place.... it all gets a 10 out of 10 in my book! The only downside is that it is located in a tight spot so parking may be tough and the wait is sometimes pretty long because unless you get there early before the rush, you'll find yourself in a long wait time. I did notice a lot of foot traffic coming in and out with TO GO orders so you do have that option!! You'll find the mom in the back making amazing food and the son running the shop up front with all the orders and serving their guests, they are great and make you feel very welcomed. Pictured here: BARBACOA CROISSANT - I don't say this lightly... this is probably the best tasting croissant I've had to date. The barbacoa was seasoned to perfection and the croissant didn't fall apart CHILAQUILES WITH CARNITAS - Chilaquiles is a Mexican breakfast dish that has tortilla chips as its base along with rice, beans and whatever protein you choose. In this case, carnitas!! And let me tell ya, these carnitas were so tender and perfectly cooked. This was definitely a favorite along with their salsa verde because their tortillas were excellent BREAKFAST SANDWICH - Just know this isn't your typical breakfast sandwich. My review consists of three aspects of the experience: service, food, and ambience. Service was great; we had a very kind and attentive server. The ambience was alright, but it was very cold. Lastly, the food. Keep in mind, I'm not a very harsh critic, but after spending $42 on an omelet, chilaquiles, and two lattes, I left the place a little upset. Both the omelet and chilaquiles were ordered with steak, but the steak tasted very dry and had no flavor, as if it had been made a day before and reheated. The rice that came with it was VERY hard and crunchy, as well as cold. Again, this isn't meant to be mean or to negatively bash the business. Maybe it was just what we got. However, considering that what we ordered cost $42 and the food was cold on top of that, I didn't leave as a happy customer. I want to emphasize again, my intentions aren't to bash the restaurant but rather to hope that they may see this and raise the standard to justify spending $42 on a subpar experience. read more

I suspect that we beat the church crowd because it started getting busy by the time we left around 11:30 am. Chilaquiles rojos were delish. Their aguas were super too. Reasons for 3 stars.... We just ate here yesterday.. came in and sat down with menus .. took awhile for the server to take our order (not a big problem) and then waited another what seemed like a very long time just to get our coffee and tea. Normally, you get served drinks soon after you put your order in. But, that wasn't the case.. I think the server was maybe helping to cook as well as getting peoples orders and ringing up customers.. However, we were the only ones in there and one more couple came in after us. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich (I forget which one) and I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage , and French toast. The breakfast sandwich was HUGE! Also, filled with some sauce and tomatoes and lettuce and 3 fried eggs. It was so messy and so large, my husband had trouble eating it. Seriously, the roll was the size of a Stromboli and could've been split b/t 2 people and shouldn't have been so messy it made it hard to eat. My eggs were over cooked and packaged shredded cheese was merely sprinkled on top with some scrambled in the eggs. The French toast was very good. read more
