Visiting from out of town, I came to Dynamite as a recommendation that it was a great, newer sushi buffet in town. I had a party of two. There is plenty of seating, it was on the louder side between loud music, the sound of people in a restaurant, and there are tvs on. A little overstimulating for me and my elderly companion. You can order from a slip with sushi rolls, sashimi, and other items. The buffet is all you can eat, and it's my understanding it's all included in the price. We ordered four different rolls, and I scoped out the buffet. We hadn't realized it was all included when we planned to eat here, but good to know. I got some fresh fruit and fried plantain for us to share from the buffet. They had lots of orange chicken, sushi rolls on display, soups, crab, and so much more. It all looked delicious. The sushi rolls we ordered were perfect, the seafood was fresh and rolls well prepared. I haven't been to a buffet in a while, but I haven't to say the quality was great. I saw this place just opened and had to check it out. This place is located inside Gainesville where O'Charley's used to be at. They still have some of the O'Charley's signs left over displayed. Walking in, we were seated right away. Looking around the bufffet bar, it was small selection. There was your typical fried foods and a salad bar. There always was a fruit bar. The best part of this place wasn't in the buffet area. It's on menu. The menu consisted of hibachi steak/shrimp/etc. It also had sushi roll orders. The menu was made to order and included in the buffet price. I ordered the hibachi steak with scallops. I thought it would taste like the typical hibachi buffet styled food but I was wrong!! The steak was very tender and tasted very high quality like a normal Hibachi restaurant. The fried rice wasn't bad as well. The sushi rolls we ordered were amazing. They tasted fresh and of high quality unlike your typical buffet style sushi rolls. I really enjoyed fruit bar as it had lychee. I think I had 2 bowls of lychee because it tasted so good. Table service was great as they were super attentive and fast on cleaning up our table. I can't wait took to come back here again. read more

(zero mfing stars) This was hands down the worst sushi experience of my life. The buffet looked like it had been sitting out since last week--fish was warm, limp, and smelled questionable. The "sushi" was mostly rice with a tiny sliver of something unidentifiable on top. I'm pretty sure I saw imitation crab passed off as tuna. The hot food section wasn't any better. The tempura was soggy, the noodles tasted like cardboard, and the miso soup was basically salty dishwater. The staff acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us eat there, and dirty plates piled up on our table the entire time. By the time I left, I was genuinely worried about food poisoning. A buffet should never feel like a gamble with your health. Honestly, gas station sushi would have been a safer and tastier option. Oh my ... this was truly an AYCE buffet with great foods from the serving displays to having bountiful sushi and best of all the Korean BBQ table experience. Staff here have gone out of their way to serve with friendliness and attention. Four of us were seated at the table where the Hot Grill is fired up as number one son wants the Korean BBQ choices he knows and yearns for. From fresh vegetable combo to pork and steaks and even the squid were cooked up. Three of us enjoyed the multiple choices of shrimp and chicken and soups and more. We tried all the favorites and went back for more. The Hot and Sour soup is a thumbs up. Wait staff couldn't be better as we had our plates removed and our drinks refilled and generally very friendly and helpful. Desserts of fresh fruits and tarts and cakes for the sweet tooth and for me it included bars of Hershey icecream. We enjoyed the seating arrangement and the cleanliness of the restaurant. We will make another special trip to Dynamite Sushi Steak & Grill when in Gainesville GA, and stop here for lunch or dinner again. We are certainly glad that we did today. read more

We went well after lunch so some stuff wasn't fresh and was a bit dried out, but I can't blame them for that. Everything had great flavor. Some favorites were the lo mein, coconut milk shrimp, egg rolls, dumplings, fried fish, pepper steak, and coffee cake. The California hand rolls were excellent and extremely fresh. Service was very good. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. The price was fairly high but definitely fair for the quality, selection and being AYCE. We will definitely be back. read more

1st visit here and we had very good service. Inexperience was the only negative we have and that was us. Neither of us knew enough about sushi to know what we ordered but the bar had a great selection and the food was good, could've been a bit hotter but it was warm with great flavor. Tried this new restaurant last weekend and I hope to go back again hungry. I had a big breakfast and wasn't really ready for lunch yet but my wife was hungry so we stopped in. They have a buffet every day but on weekends it's dinner prices all day long. Even at lunchtime. But they had lobster on the buffet and crab legs and several shrimp dishes as well as all the old standbys, so it's easy to get your money's worth. We ordered off the a-la-cart menu and had 2 shrimp dishes that were very good and large enough to take home doggy bags. I'm going to go back hungry! read more

Got a flyer in the mail announcing their grand opening (been open 4 months?). We decided we would give it a try and scout it out for the parents who like AYCE Chinese with the possibility of crab legs. We went for lunch though and arrived just after opening to ensure nice hot fresh food. The place is nice and clean looking. I told the waiter up front that we were veterans as they offer a 10% discount and he said he would take care of it. We were seated in a booth and ordered a sushi roll and a couple of pieces of sushi before checking out the bar. The bar has a few items but it's clear the main business seems to be sushi and hibachi. Wife stuck with the bar, but I ordered some hibachi when we sat back down. The little bit I got from the bar was ok and wife said the same though she found plenty to eat. The first plate of sushi was fantastic. The roll was only 4 pieces but they were large. They do use things like fake crab to cut down on prices. The mackerel was as good as any sushi restaurant and I could probably just get 20 pieces of that for lunch. Hibachi arrived and even though the menu said it comes with rice, it did not. Sure there was some on the bar but it's not the same as being cooked with everything. The shrimp was slightly under cooked and the steak was chewy. I like the places you just grab what you want to be grilled yourself and hand it to someone to cook better. Ordered another sushi roll and more mackerels. Didn't see that the roll we picked was fried. It was ok, a bit strange. After eating we were presented with the bill where the discount was forgotten. It can happen. That was fixed, though only one of us got 10% off even though we are both veterans. I didn't feel like gripping about it. Dynamite is a must try. One price in the entire restaurant is all you can eat. Sushi made fresh to order, hibachi and the buffet all for one price. Servers are amazing and quick. Not your traditional buffet restaurant definitely spent a little more time on the decor. If you're looking for a cheap spot, this isn't it but remember you get what you pay for. read more

3 at the best...1st time trying Dynamite Sushi. Went on a Saturday and 1price $31.00. I arrived shortly before 3:00 no other patrons in the restaurant. Service was prompt, attentive and Friendly, reason I did not rate lower. All items and I mean all items (besides soups) on the buffet were cold, not even warm and appeared to have been out all afternoon. Egg roll, Spring roll, all chicken and shrimp dishes were cold and tough to chew. The Sushi was ordered off the sushi menu and made fresh, it was ok but not near the quality of other sushi bars I visit. Was disappointed as I was excited to try and enjoy the buffet experience.Will not go back even with lunch prices of $11.99 during the week. Nori Nori in Roswell and Dragon buffet in Cumming are far better in my opinion....bummed as I live in Gainesville. read more

We didn't hate it and I wouldn't be opposed to going back. However I also wouldn't go out of my way to go here. The food on the buffet was good and there was a large amount of options. But the price just felt step (about $30 a person...) for what we ended up enjoying eating (Chinese take out type foods-- chicken, rice, noodles, egg rolls). The sushi, was not good at all. We tried 6 rolls and only liked one of them. Poor presentation and felt like "cheap" sushi. The service was pretty good. Servers seemed very easily confused though (even with simple requests-- like ordering sushi). The restaurant itself is very nice and clean. Has an upscale feel to it. One and done. Went here with my colleagues and we all agreed it was not good and value was not there. I've never seen such a limited selection at a buffet. No many choices/variety for lunch. The fried foods were generic all and very similar in taste. The sauces were either syrupy sweet or lack luster. The seafood tasted like it's been sitting out for quite a bit of time. Sushi was "fresh to order" and you ordered from a paper menu, BUT it was far from fresh. Rice was overcooked and fish/other ingredients did not taste appetizing. $18 is steep for the value here. This was the most horrible experience for sushi I've ever had. Besides the sushi being bad, the hot bar was warm at best. After waiting 15 to 20 minutes for my sushi to come, I took one bite and could tell this was going to give me the worst shit I've ever had. The seaweed wrappers were green and rubbery, obviously horrible quality. Fish smelt like it had been sitting around for days. I tried to get a discount on my bill because I barely ate anything, they were going to give me 10% off of two of the meals. There were six of us and I found a coupon right at the hostess stand that gave me 15% off the total bill. When I told them about this they were like oh sorry I guess it would be better to get that as a discount. They should have just gave me my meal for free. Avoid this place at all costs. First red flag was when ordering the sushi off the ticket our server had bragged extensively about how all of it is made fresh for us. we ordered 3 sushi rolls and they all tasted like they had been left out for hours. the buffet itself is so limited, almost every "hot" food I tried was so cold I had to move it around myself to get a hot portion of food. Our server was okay but she kept staring at us the whole time we were eating and it was so uncomfortable. Went to the restroom and it was so dirty. I was expecting more from a nice looking buffet. the walls were so dirty and there was even 2 dirty toilets that looked like they had not been clean in days. WORST PART EVER IS after we left our server comes CHASING after us asking my fiancé to put a tip in our bill..... I understand everyone wants a tip, but all our server did was refill drinks and take plates.. I could do that in my sleep. We just tried to walk away and she starts to make a scene outside the restaurant and got mad when we tried walking to our car. Came in at 6pm, and the service was great! However, food is a BIG issue here. If it's slow they leave the food to sit out for a long time and it either gets soggy or very hard to chew on. Nothing looks fresh, and they don't change or switch it out unless the food is very low or gone. The best thing I would say would be their hibachi grill. So if you like their hibachi, DO NOT do buffet portion which cost $40 per person and not worth it; However, I would suggest just dining in and ordering from their hibachi menu. First let me start by saying I don't do buffets. We came in thinking it was a hibachi it was not. We walked around the buffet and everything looked so fresh and well prepared. The buffet is $30 per person or you can order from a menu and skip the buffet all together. If you order buffet you also get sushi, which is awesome! The only thing that I hate are the people at the buffets that stand there and eat and lick their fingers then touch the serving spoons. So nasty people!!! Stop ruining it so other. Recently visited the new Dynamite in its familiar location. The whispers of O'Charley's still are evident from the classic door handles to interior design which, despite the attempt to modernize, show through the fresh, white paint. The interior doesn't seem to know what it wants to be and you're left feeling a little uncomfortable in the cold, modern makeover. Despite appearances, the people that work there are pleasant and efficient. There's ample seating even though the food bars take up a lot of the old space. Taking the option of the all-you-can-eat bar nets you what you see, but also access to a free sushi menu and hibachi. You're going to pay a hefty price, but if you tap this premium offers, you could get your money's worth. Additionally, a drink may add another $4 to your per person price, so consider that. In the end, I look at this in terms of what around $30/person could get you and compare that to what I got here. The food is mediocre at best and unappetizing at worst. It's a bar, so you should have some leveled expectations. The sushi is okay - certainly not unsafe - it's just a step above grocery store grade, if that. The bar features a lot of fried items (appetizers), some dessert, and an awkward assortment of "salad" items. When I was there, the dressings were not stored in ice chaffing dishes, so I'd expect a health alert down the road. But the ingredients for salad were more akin to burger toppings than a salad. Not sure if this a cultural difference, or just a miss. I recognize baby octopi as a luxury and actually pretty delicious, though YMMV as an American diner who doesn't experience it often. Worth a try though if you can stomach the idea. In the end, I think you could make it worth the money, but I feel like my $30 could buy me a reasonable amount of higher quality food. And if I'm truly going all out for sushi, I'm expecting to pay more money for the culinary experience, safety, and quality ingredients. read more

Everything about this place was convenient and excellent. The atmosphere felt authentic and calming, along with the minimal amount of people and the EXTREMELY clean environment. The service went immensely well, the waiter was very kind and came to check on us often. And there was a paper and pen on the table that we can use to order. The actual Buffet bar had some good options like crab legs, rice, noodles etc. and plenty of deserts.. but What's really worth getting is the stuff that's on the unlimited sushi menu which includes other options as well. Everything on there was really good. There's also a cook that walks around with a cart offering roasted duck, ribs and other meats.
