This is not real hibachi. It's like the cheap Chinese food in the rough areas for $6. The ambiance gives you that vibe as well. They only sprinkle a few veggies and meat over a huge bed of rice or noodles. They scam you when you pay extra for veggies. They do not give you extra veggies. You can still count the broccoli. I even had to pay $1 just for some green onions. You would think it came in the rice. You could count them as well. The customer service is just as nasty. If you say anything about it, the instantly are offensive and begin to argue. Very nasty attitude. I've stopped by a lot of places I don't even remember going to recently. Am I developing dementia? Possibly. This, however, is more likely a case of the restaurant just not being particularly memorable. Fuji Hibachi Express sits in a small shopping center anchored by a gas station. There are a few other restaurants nearby, including a far more interesting looking Mexican place. Sadly, that place was closed. Fortunately, you really can't go wrong (in most cases) with takeout Chinese/Japanese. Fuji Hibachi Express features the menu of your typical Americanized Chinese takeout, along with several hibachi options. I ordered the hibachi steak and shrimp. I don't actually know the final price of my meal. They have a lunch special advertised, but they very awkwardly don't have the price for some hibachi items outside of lunch hours. The food was decent. Reasonably good meat and veggies were brought down by horrendous fried rice. I probably need to give up on finding great hibachi fried rice and instead stick with the very safe steamed white rice. The biggest highlight of the restaurant is the staff. The [probable] owner/operator is incredibly friendly and charismatic. Fuji Hibachi Express is another perfectly serviceable restaurant. Management has changed a couple of times recently. With that, the menu changes. They have the option to dine in but I've always called in the order to pick up. The guy that I spoke to over the phone was thorough, patient and very friendly! I'll first say that they I love that they offer vegan options! A pretty simple adjustment, but unfortunately, we're left out far too often. So kudos to them!! Their menu is kind of all over the place, but in a good way. They have Chinese, American, Japanese/Hibachi options. I've visited this place so many times before being vegan and the food is always good. My go to used to be the Habachi section of their menu. Loved it because it comes with many veggies mixed in the rice and you have several protein options to choose from. Their fried wings (extra crispy) were also a fave! General Tso Tofu - Not on the current menu, but was on the previous. Huge portion size, which made me feel better about the price. The sauce was tasty on the tofu. I wish the tofu of was more firm, but honestly that's a preference. They didn't use the really soft tofu so definitely appreciative of that. Dish came with a side of rice (white or fried). I'll check with them next time to see if their fried rice has eggs in it to see if it's vegan. Other vegan options: tofu with broccoli, broccoli with garlic sauce, tofu with mixed vegetables, sautéed mixed vegetables, spring rolls, vegetable soup. I'll have to ask about the vegetable low mein and chow mein options, but I would assume the noodles have eggs in them. read more

Under new management! Food was a lot different. I got the H8. The meat wasn't done and did not taste like chicken or steak. I also got the egg drop soup and it was mucus like. I end up sick all night. Definitely will never eat there again or recommend to anyone read more

based on limited time, i stopped in here for a late lunch. Ordering off of their lunch menu was quick and easy to do. Not to mention, the pricing was pretty affordable. However, i was quite disappointed with the food that i received. I ordered a lunch special of General Tso Chicken with Fried rice and wonton soup (upcharge of $.80), so my total was $8.01 ($6.69 for the meal). The guy behind the counter noted that the General Tso's chicken comes spicy, and I told him the spicier, the better!. When I got the food back to my office (less than 5 minutes away), the food was anything but spicy. Either i got the wrong food, or they don't know how to make a staple take out chinese meal. The "chicken" was quite bland, barely in any Tso's Sauce. The amount of rice overpowered the plate, as it took up nearly 3/4 of the plate. The amount of chicken was a small little side of the plate. The wonton soup was pretty good, and was pretty much the best part of the meal..however it contained A LOT of salt! Based on the other reviews here, it looks like they are more geared towards the Hibachi...however i was hesitant to get that, since you don't see the Hibachi grill, so you don't know how its made (and that worries me).. The meal came out real quick (maybe 3 minutes), but I think they should take an extra minute or two to cook (or reheat) the food properly.. Add less rice and more sauce. instead of clumping the rice on one side and chicken on the other..maybe combine the two, so that the sauce mixes with the rice...or if not that, then put the chicken on top of the rice! read more

This is my confession, I'd rather order veggie hibachi for takeout than cook! It's just so much better than what I could attempt like this at home. AND so affordable AND fast! Yes, I'm clearly a fan. This place has changed hands. The original owner when this place opened was on top of his game. He was courteous and the food was of good quality/price. Whoever this clown is now that has it is terrible. I recently went in to get food and the guy told me that I could not add mushrooms to the bowl. I asked again, and he said no. When I told him that I have ordered this same thing before with no problem, he huffed and said oh, ok that will be $3.00 more. I laughed at him and left the business. It also is not very clean anymore either. I will never go back. I would suggest maybe panda express. This guy will not stay here long, can't keep customers with operations like that. read more

I've been going to this place ever since it opened in Gainesville. I always order the Chicken and Shrimp Hibachi for me and my mom. They make it so fast and the taste is great. My only gripe is the price. The price has gone up significantly since they opened. Two Chicken and Shrimp Hibachis used to cost around $16 but is now almost at $20! That is the only reason why I don't go as much but the food is great! read more
