I ordered a new sliding screen door, and was given a beautiful new custom screen door within about a week. However, they charge a mandatory $100 fee for installation as well on top. The fee was not the issue, the screen was installed and there is a rubbing issue when the new frame closes and touches the existing fixed frame for the door. There could be many reasons for this but my issue is that I followed up with a phone call to inquire as to why that rubbing may be happening and whether or not the guys that installed had noted it or knew why that was happening. The kind lady on the phone told me she would ask them and follow up, but nobody ever did. I followed up with an email and got no response. I could not be there for the installation but I noticed the rubbing immediately as it is not a small rub and requires a lot of extra effort to close past that rub point. The screen was amazing however I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with my lack of follow up response (or any response at all) from them as to why that was happening. I'm a reasonable person I was not looking to place blame only to inquire so I could better understand how to proceed. I will not be going back to Kailua Screen Shop for repeat business and will not recommend unfortunately. The 3 stars I have are purely because the quality of the screen itself was good and should count for something. read more

We needed a new replacement screen so I called around to several places in east Oahu near Kailua. Some of the places that claimed to replace screens had a TWO MONTH or longer wait list. After I called Kailua Screen Shop about my bad screen, I was initially told that they could have it ready in a couple of days. When I arrived with the old screen, they showed me how badly corroded the old aluminum frame was--and it was!--and that making a new frame would add a couple of days. But they were good to their word. These folks clearly know what they are doing. After they showed me just how badly the old frame was compromised by many years of weather and humidity, I had no question in my mind that what they recommended was needed. read more

I ordered a set of large, 4 foot wide screens after trying to do the DIY ones myself from Home Depot. The HD screens didn't seal well, wouldn't slide, and just felt cheap, so I returned them. We have needed new screens for years. I wish I'd gone to Kailua Screen Shop earlier, but I'm so glad I did last month. It was so simple. I brought in the screens to be replaced and they made them within a few days. One of my existing screens had been bent and tweaked over the years, so its replacement required a few resizes to make it small enough for my window, and the customer service at Kailua Screen Shop was friendly and helpful and 5-star . As the only real screen shop in town, this is the place to go if you want your screens repaired. True you can take yours to Hardware Hawaii, but they told me their person is so busy, he's weeks out on repairs and sent me here! I had no problem finding the screen shop, and there's ample parking on the street. I dropped my screen off and the told me it would take one business day and they would call me when it was ready. Days and days go by and I wonder how they got so busy when they quoted me one business day?! I finally had to move out of my rental so I called them to check the status on the screen and turns out it had been ready all that time and they just forgot to call me. Oops...They did a great job, but the lack of call really was cumbersome on my end, I'll likely take my future screen jobs there but I'll make sure to call them instead of waiting and hoping! read more

Would have gotten 4 stars this time, but they did not call me when it was done and I had to go in to shop in order to confirm completion. Old Review A few years ago, I paid over $1,800 for a screen door installation. KSS failed to install the closure and blocked access to the breaker panel (fire safety and legal violation). Double sliding doors were corroded so I called Kailua screen shop. Since I've been using them for many years I was confident they could handle this. Since I had to work during the day I had them come by my house and pick up the screens. Then the fabricator came by to measure. I was called to pick them up a few days later and was confused when they told me how to cut and install an astragal piece. I wasn't able to do it properly so the technician came and helped. The non-aluminum hinges from my aluminum screen door rusted causing the part to become enlarged enough to prevent closure of the door. Screen door is more costly than most due to it being aluminum so I did not look forward to buying a new screen door. Replacing just the hinges was not an option due to the design. Patty and the technical staff tirelessly researched and found the right part (channel part which included the hinges). Amazingly, via emails with cell phone pics and phone calls alone they found the right part. I am grateful for their help!!! They are the only dedicated screen (doors and windows) shop in Kailua. For a shop like this, it should be relatively smooth sailing to make a screen door or window because, well it's what they do and have done for years. I'm always impressed on how business respond when things don't go well and what they do to repair not only the product but the relationship with the customer. I bought about 20 screens for a home rehab in the summer of 2016. In the past year, we had issues with half of the screens because the rubber spline was too small and popped out. Kailua screen shop repaired each one of them quickly and not hassles at all. The only request was to bring them in a few at a time so they don't get flooded, which was reasonable to me.
