I had lunch here with a friend on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon in October. It was warm enough to sit outside and dine. I decided on the nachos with grilled chicken on the side and a frozen margarita with salt. Our waiter was knowledgable and friendly (kudos here). He actually engaged in conversation and knew the menu. I thought my nachos were fine - nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either. I wanted to ensure the margarita wasn't from some type of mix and the waiter informed me it would be made fresh - which it was. The only problem was I'm almost certain there was a scant amount of tequila in it. I know because I don't drink much and I feel alcohol almost immediately (especially tequila). So, I think the bartender needs some tips on how to make a drink. This may sound harsh but if you purchase a drink for $10 and up it better be fxcking good. My friend had the veggie tacos and she enjoyed them along with her non-alcoholic drink a mango something something that looked amazing. I would recommend this place but don't expect the best food you've ever tasted. For some reason, Washington state completely misses the mark with it comes to decent Mexican food.
Spacious restaurant with views of the water and a band was setting up to play. Service - they weren't busy. Maybe 5 tables with diners and it seemed like they only had one waiter because we waited long to get drinks (water though was served right away by the hostess) and appetizers was slow getting to us and we had to keep asking if he remembered to put it in. Food - Eh, it was decent. It was also very pricey for the amount they give.
The location is great, especially on the patio where you can see the beach and watch the ferry and train come through. The staff were friendly and service was prompt, though there was a delay in one of our desserts which wasn't a huge deal but kind of unfortunate that one of us could have been done or nearly done if we hadn't waited for the other dessert to come out. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and it was mediocre at best. The rice had good flavor but was cold and hard to eat with a fork from a metal bowl; the pineapple coleslaw was a hard pass - not even sure what that was except for wet cabbage with no hint of fruit. The tortillas on the tacos were hard - like they nuked them and then they sat for a bit so the edges had that hard crunch to them, in a bad way. The fish was also dry and not that flavorful - think chicken breast that baked in the oven a bit too long. The dessert was good. I had the chocolate mousse pie (which was the dessert that made it to the table first), and the whipped cream had melted into slop by the time my friend's dessert came out. I'd say the closest thing to this pie would be the Hershey's pie from Burger King - similar is flavor and texture, but less commercially made. Overall it was a so-so experience. Would I be back? Unlikely.
Went to Kahlos to have a nice dinner with my husband. The setting was beautiful you get a great view of Edmonds beach. Our server was very attentive and catered to our needs- we asked if we could be seated inside as it get quite cold in the evening. He immediately went to look for a table and sat us down. I ordered the shrimp ceviche 10/10 I dream about that ceviche ! So so fresh and great portion. My husband got the carne asada it could have used more seasoning. His side that came with the carne asada were great. We both shared the queso fundido with chorizo and was ok. The drinks were tasty! I would definitely go back and tey other items on the menu.
What a wonderful new addition to the Edmonds waterfront area! I think there was an Indian restaurant here previously and I didn't get a chance to try it before it became Kahlo's. Oh well - it couldn't have been nearly as good as this new place! I had the shrimp appetizer and my friend ordered guacamole to go along with the chips and salsa and her lunch tacos. Everything was fresh and tasty! The ambiance in this light-flooded space is warm and inviting. The food warms the soul, and the drink menu looks like it can hold its own if you aren't here for eating! Our server was very attentive and when we let her know I was in the ferry line they were sure to get us on our way in a timely manner! This is my new favorite place by the water! Looking forward to trying out other menu items!
As a mexican women I appreciate going to mexican restaurants that are authentic in their cuisine. First off- the server was accommodating to my family as we had a car seat that didn't sit right on the high chair. He made sure that our baby in the car seat was secure with the chair he offered us. The server was attentive and prompt to check in to see if we needed anything more. We ordered Appetizers- Nachos: Loved that they were served with black whole beans & not refried beans. They were well served & enough to share between 2 people. (Forgot to take photo) Ceviche: the perfect blend of spicy & sweet. Came with serrano peppers, you know its going to be good already. If you think ketchup is spicy this might not be for you. Entrees- Mango Salmon: The mango salsa complimented the salmon perfectly. If you want more of a "healthier" meal this is for you. Asada Tacos: Can never go wrong with tacos! The meat was soft & flavorful. Appreciate the slices of avocado. The salsa on the side was spicy & delicious. I liked that you get to choose the side. I ordered esquite which was exciting to see as not many restaurants offer it. & fries. My toddler ate that instead of ordering from the kids menu. Agua de horchata was creamy & the perfect blend of sweet. Did not disappoint. On Fridays they have live music & the place is packed.
I came to Kahlo's Cantina with my mom and my dad to celebrate my mom's birthday with a dinner out. They had heard about the restaurant from some of their friends who highly recommended it, so we decided to check it out. The restaurant had contemporary decor and played music. The hostess was friendly and quick. The wait staff was kind and upbeat in their interactions. We got an indoor table by the windows facing the Edmonds ferry dock. Fun to watch people and cars get on and off the ferry as we enjoyed our meal (an early dinner). Food was spot on and good-sized portions. Normally I get fajitas when I go out for Mexican food, but I decided to try something different and went with the Pork Carnitas Burrito. The portion was large, the burrito tasty and I was one happy diner. My parents got an ensalada and tacos and they finished most of their food. Fun to have left overs to eat once I got home. Chips and salsa were provided to snack on as we waited for our dishes. All around an enjoyable experience.
When did Kahlo's get so expensive yet the food get worse? Granted I haven't been there in a while but geez. Carne Asada is great if it's at least warm. I almost sent it back but considering how long it took to get our food I was like screw it. I didn't want to be there forever. And neither did they. While the Mango Chili margarita was really good, too bad I couldn't finish it after I paid the bill. Woman acting as the bus boy snagged the drink and just as I realized what happened I could hear her dumping it down the bar sink. Lunch for two people with chips/salsa, two margaritas, a chicken burrito and carne asada should not cost $120 after tax and tip. Next time I'm at a restaurant, I will definitely look at the menu prices better and the added charges. I obviously didn't look at the price of the carne asada. It's a favorite of mine but $33. Seriously?! Especially since it was lukewarm I should have sent it back. I remember Kahlo's being really good food and reasonably priced. Not anymore. I won't be back to Kahlo's.
I love the food and the margaritas here. The tequila flights are great too! I've been several times and never been disappointed. The patio with a view and the music are a bonus. Our favorite is the carne asada. The salsas are delicious. It's now our go to!
Yummy food! Our first time here to celebrate Father's Day. Started with fried calamari and drinks. Husband had a margarita & I had a lemon drop. Not too strong but very tasty! We each had seafood enchiladas with lobster sauce. I opted for the rice & Mexican corn. Husband had the rice & black beans. Very good & tasty! Our waitperson was very nice and attentive. This is a bit of a high end Mexican Restaurant. I would have given 5 stars but they didn't offer refried beans. Otherwise, it was good. We will probably return for another special occasion.
Great ambiance! Love the decoration and also the live music that's played here over the weekends. Mainly have had drinks here and their margaritas are delicious! Service has been great, as well!
I have been wanting to come here since they opened, especially because of their location right by the water!! Not to mention they actually have a parking lot which is really nice for for downtown Edmonds. The atmosphere inside is gorgeous and I loved all the paintings/decorations. We started with chips and salsa and guacamole. The salsa LITERALLY tasted like water I was so confused why there was no flavor. But the chips were elite, I loved them. Guac was pretty good. There was 6 of us and we all got something different. Shrimp tacos: good but spicy, my mom loved the pineapple slaw Asada tacos: enjoyed the flavor Chicken enchiladas: decent but unnecessarily spicy Asada enchiladas: WHY IS EVERYTHING overwhelming spicy and no mention of it on the menu? And my family doesn't mind spice Carne asada: enjoyed it! Shrimp crema dish: my dad had food poisoning from this meal!! He was up all night puking :( The only real positive was the drinks. They were SOLID and I would only ever come here for the drinks. The food is a no go especially for the price, there are better Mexican restaurants walking distance from here. The lady bussing that night was not pleasant at all. When I simply asked for straws or extra water because no one came to fill it she looked at me like she was annoyed she had to do any work. What a way to make the customers feel! Anyway I'm glad I tried this place but I'm going to have to say pass.
Ok so the view the food the drinks amazing ! This TN gal loves this place reminds me of sitting in Cozumel looking out at the ocean! The staff is very personal Seattle is rare. They are sincere and friendly and fun.! Very excepting now may be a little pricey the way I look at it sometimes you pay a little more for an experience and this was a great experience!
Food was good. Service was great. Had pozole which was made with chicken not pork. So it was a bit bland but not bad. Lots of onion, cabbage, lime, and chicken. My friend had the mushroom salad that looked amazing. Another Had the vegetarian taco sasalad and ate every bite. I will visit again. read more

Honestly terrible. The service was mediocre - had to ask for hot sauce multiple times. The last time they laughed, rolled their eyes, and immediately brought it. Food was very bland - Margarita was too sweet. The decorations were fun and the place looked clean - that's the only reason for the two star review. I will never be back. read more
Cute little place. I will say that the service that we got from the bartender - it was really nice. Ice, cold beer and a pretty tasty margarita for my wife. But I gotta be honest with you, I think that they use Prego for salsa! The chips were fresh, homemade and fantastic, but that salsa has got to go. Other than that - a good place. read more

I was really looking forward to eating at Kahlo's given the location and it is a beautiful restaurant, with great decor. I was really disappointed, I had the shrimp fajitas and the shrimp tasted like they were boiled and had zero flavor. The stars were given for the sides which were amazing, I had corn and rice. I hope they can improve and I will give it another try. My wife had a vegetarian burrito and also didn't find it had good flavor, basically bland. read more

I tried this restaurant with a friend yesterday and have good things to report. First, our sever was friendly and helpful with just the right frequency of checking in with us. Second, our food was delicious! I had the carne asada with black beans and corn. The salsa was flavorful, the meat cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the corn and beans. The only thing I wish was different is that the corn was taken off the ear. I really prefer roasted corn on the cob. The carne asada was served with queso, guacamole, and a roasted jalapeño- which I liked because I could choose my spice level by how much I added. I did not ask, but the texture of the tortillas made me think they might be freshly made in-house. They were excellent! Everything was fresh, flavorful and cooked well. My friend had the birrïa and enjoyed her meal as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt good too. I will definitely come again soon! read more

The service at Kahlo's is very good. The server is friendly, funny and helpful. There is an outdoor patio, where dogs are allowed and it's is beautiful to sit out there during good weather. The food isn't that impressive, I was quite underwhelmed by the taste of it. Their sauces are very good, especially the house made spicy sauce. I would return to the place to grab some beers and hand out with friends, food wouldn't be my top priority here. read more

We visited again and had a good meal. The choices are not your usual Mexican food fare. More authentic Mexican pairings. This time I had the carne asada soft tacos and Mexican rice. It was a very flavorful mixture of ingredients. I really enjoyed it. Our server was very cheerful and talkative. Treated us well and we enjoyed her. Fresh chips and a nice flavored salsa. read more

Why is it all so wet. My carne asada tacos were wet - the meat tasted like stewed roast more than sweet delicious grilled beef. My wife's steak fajitas were swimming in some strange tomato-y broth. The "street corn style" side was literally canned corn served in a cup with at least half of the cup full of corn water. Has anyone ever ordered corn as a side dish and thought - man, I really wish this corn was served drowning in liquid so I can have corn soup after I strain out the corn. The rice - a dish served the world over, was nothing more than rice and chicken broth with a few corn kernels tossed in and had an exterior crunch indicative of the amounts of time it had spent pre-scooped into mounds in the kitchen. Staff, however, was attentive and kind. Terrible food. Passible drinks. Decent staff. read more

Have been here multiple times. BEST margaritas I've had, top fave is the scratch citrus margarita. Beautiful artwork inside, cute small bar area, nice outdoor seating. I've had their carne asada which is pretty good, the khalo ensalada (really really good and filling), the quesadillas, burrito plate, and their guacamole. Only item that was lacking was the black bean side as it lacked salt. Otherwise all the food and drinks are yummy, atmosphere is nice, and I will come back again and again. read more

I don't know where to start... I don't review much, but had to say something about this place. Mexican Roasted Corn... we have all had it and it's really good, but when you get canned corn with sour cream WTF?! Mahi Mahi Tacos is what sounded good... I shouldn't have ordered them. They tasted old, very fishy, and a very very small amount of fish for two tacos and $24! I won't go there again and it sucks because they have such a great location! The services was great, fast (which some like) but great and tentative. I was very disappointed . We got it to go and literally at it 5 mins later. Oh and to finish it off, the roasted salsa was tomato sauce and garlic powder... my wife can make a thousand times better sauce then this with tomato's, onions, peppers, and cilantro... I'm sorry to be so harsh but this was not good. read more
