I had lunch here with a friend on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon in October. It was warm enough to sit outside and dine. I decided on the nachos with grilled chicken on the side and a frozen margarita with salt. Our waiter was knowledgable and friendly (kudos here). He actually engaged in conversation and knew the menu. I thought my nachos were fine - nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either. I wanted to ensure the margarita wasn't from some type of mix and the waiter informed me it would be made fresh - which it was. The only problem was I'm almost certain there was a scant amount of tequila in it. I know because I don't drink much and I feel alcohol almost immediately (especially tequila). So, I think the bartender needs some tips on how to make a drink. This may sound harsh but if you purchase a drink for $10 and up it better be fxcking good. My friend had the veggie tacos and she enjoyed them along with her non-alcoholic drink a mango something something that looked amazing. I would recommend this place but don't expect the best food you've ever tasted. For some reason, Washington state completely misses the mark with it comes to decent Mexican food.

Calamari $19.99 Was expecting more rings than tentacles. The sauce was very tangy.

Spacious restaurant with views of the water and a band was setting up to play. Service - they weren't busy. Maybe 5 tables with diners and it seemed like they only had one waiter because we waited long to get drinks (water though was served right away by the hostess) and appetizers was slow getting to us and we had to keep asking if he remembered to put it in. Food - Eh, it was decent. It was also very pricey for the amount they give.

Mahi Mahi tacos with rice and coleslaw

The location is great, especially on the patio where you can see the beach and watch the ferry and train come through. The staff were friendly and service was prompt, though there was a delay in one of our desserts which wasn't a huge deal but kind of unfortunate that one of us could have been done or nearly done if we hadn't waited for the other dessert to come out. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and it was mediocre at best. The rice had good flavor but was cold and hard to eat with a fork from a metal bowl; the pineapple coleslaw was a hard pass - not even sure what that was except for wet cabbage with no hint of fruit. The tortillas on the tacos were hard - like they nuked them and then they sat for a bit so the edges had that hard crunch to them, in a bad way. The fish was also dry and not that flavorful - think chicken breast that baked in the oven a bit too long. The dessert was good. I had the chocolate mousse pie (which was the dessert that made it to the table first), and the whipped cream had melted into slop by the time my friend's dessert came out. I'd say the closest thing to this pie would be the Hershey's pie from Burger King - similar is flavor and texture, but less commercially made. Overall it was a so-so experience. Would I be back? Unlikely.

Went to Kahlos to have a nice dinner with my husband. The setting was beautiful you get a great view of Edmonds beach. Our server was very attentive and catered to our needs- we asked if we could be seated inside as it get quite cold in the evening. He immediately went to look for a table and sat us down. I ordered the shrimp ceviche 10/10 I dream about that ceviche ! So so fresh and great portion. My husband got the carne asada it could have used more seasoning. His side that came with the carne asada were great. We both shared the queso fundido with chorizo and was ok. The drinks were tasty! I would definitely go back and tey other items on the menu.

What a wonderful new addition to the Edmonds waterfront area! I think there was an Indian restaurant here previously and I didn't get a chance to try it before it became Kahlo's. Oh well - it couldn't have been nearly as good as this new place! I had the shrimp appetizer and my friend ordered guacamole to go along with the chips and salsa and her lunch tacos. Everything was fresh and tasty! The ambiance in this light-flooded space is warm and inviting. The food warms the soul, and the drink menu looks like it can hold its own if you aren't here for eating! Our server was very attentive and when we let her know I was in the ferry line they were sure to get us on our way in a timely manner! This is my new favorite place by the water! Looking forward to trying out other menu items!

As a mexican women I appreciate going to mexican restaurants that are authentic in their cuisine. First off- the server was accommodating to my family as we had a car seat that didn't sit right on the high chair. He made sure that our baby in the car seat was secure with the chair he offered us. The server was attentive and prompt to check in to see if we needed anything more. We ordered Appetizers- Nachos: Loved that they were served with black whole beans & not refried beans. They were well served & enough to share between 2 people. (Forgot to take photo) Ceviche: the perfect blend of spicy & sweet. Came with serrano peppers, you know its going to be good already. If you think ketchup is spicy this might not be for you. Entrees- Mango Salmon: The mango salsa complimented the salmon perfectly. If you want more of a "healthier" meal this is for you. Asada Tacos: Can never go wrong with tacos! The meat was soft & flavorful. Appreciate the slices of avocado. The salsa on the side was spicy & delicious. I liked that you get to choose the side. I ordered esquite which was exciting to see as not many restaurants offer it. & fries. My toddler ate that instead of ordering from the kids menu. Agua de horchata was creamy & the perfect blend of sweet. Did not disappoint. On Fridays they have live music & the place is packed.

    Yeah, it's that stupid expensive.

When did Kahlo's get so expensive yet the food get worse? Granted I haven't been there in a while but geez. Carne Asada is great if it's at least warm. I almost sent it back but considering how long it took to get our food I was like screw it. I didn't want to be there forever. And neither did they. While the Mango Chili margarita was really good, too bad I couldn't finish it after I paid the bill. Woman acting as the bus boy snagged the drink and just as I realized what happened I could hear her dumping it down the bar sink. Lunch for two people with chips/salsa, two margaritas, a chicken burrito and carne asada should not cost $120 after tax and tip. Next time I'm at a restaurant, I will definitely look at the menu prices better and the added charges. I obviously didn't look at the price of the carne asada. It's a favorite of mine but $33. Seriously?! Especially since it was lukewarm I should have sent it back. I remember Kahlo's being really good food and reasonably priced. Not anymore. I won't be back to Kahlo's.

I love the food and the margaritas here. The tequila flights are great too! I've been several times and never been disappointed. The patio with a view and the music are a bonus. Our favorite is the carne asada. The salsas are delicious. It's now our go to!

I came to Kahlo's Cantina with my mom and my dad to celebrate my mom's birthday with a dinner out. They had heard about the restaurant from some of their friends who highly recommended it, so we decided to check it out. The restaurant had contemporary decor and played music. The hostess was friendly and quick. The wait staff was kind and upbeat in their interactions. We got an indoor table by the windows facing the Edmonds ferry dock. Fun to watch people and cars get on and off the ferry as we enjoyed our meal (an early dinner). Food was spot on and good-sized portions. Normally I get fajitas when I go out for Mexican food, but I decided to try something different and went with the Pork Carnitas Burrito. The portion was large, the burrito tasty and I was one happy diner. My parents got an ensalada and tacos and they finished most of their food. Fun to have left overs to eat once I got home. Chips and salsa were provided to snack on as we waited for our dishes. All around an enjoyable experience.

Yummy food! Our first time here to celebrate Father's Day. Started with fried calamari and drinks. Husband had a margarita & I had a lemon drop. Not too strong but very tasty! We each had seafood enchiladas with lobster sauce. I opted for the rice & Mexican corn. Husband had the rice & black beans. Very good & tasty! Our waitperson was very nice and attentive. This is a bit of a high end Mexican Restaurant. I would have given 5 stars but they didn't offer refried beans. Otherwise, it was good. We will probably return for another special occasion.

Great ambiance! Love the decoration and also the live music that's played here over the weekends. Mainly have had drinks here and their margaritas are delicious! Service has been great, as well!

There is limited indoor seating, which I opted to sit by the entrance. This allowed me to experience this indie cafe's vibe. It had a bit of European flair which was pleasant. Definitely the two female baristas (owners?) handled the constant line with efficient cadence. Dealing with orders at the window, orders at the counter, serving up pastries, and dealing with dishes. Pretty impressive actually. I had driven by this spot many times this past year, usually hitting up other indie cafes in Edmonds. Featured beans were from Camber, roasted up in Bellingham. Spot on mocha. Glad I detoured and stayed awhile after the pop up. Even caught up briefly with another Yelp Elite/All Star/IGer. Adding this to my Edmonds rotation. Recommended!

I was told by a bartender (who is not the owner) that I should not return, despite never being disruptive, intoxicated, or in violation of any rules here. The reason given was unrelated to my conduct at this bar and stemmed from a serious personal safety concern involving a drink that I had raised elsewhere about another patron who also frequents this establishment. The interaction left me feeling that it was more important for the other patron to feel comfortable here than it was for me to feel comfortable or welcome. As a woman raising a safety concern, being dismissed and told not to come back rather than having the situation handled neutrally or referred to management was especially upsetting. Rather than addressing the concern professionally, I was told not to return so that someone else would not have to worry about encountering me. Being treated this way -- despite having done nothing wrong at this bar -- felt unfair and unprofessional. We did not actually come to eat because we had dinner reservations a few hours later, but we did want something small to nosh on. The menu options actually sounded pretty tasty. We only ordered the fried pickles as we didn't want anything heavy. The pickles were tasty, but they needed maybe 1 more minute in the fryer. The inside of the batter was just a tiny bit undercooked. But we still gobbled them up. Aside from that, I was slightly disappointed that they didn't actually have a lot of "tiki" styled drinks on their signature drink menu. I was expecting it to be a whole theme. It really wasn't. I think that's a missed opportunity for sure. I would really lean into that theme, since it's your name and decor. The hubby ordered the Tom Tai. It started out kinda tasty on top, but whatever alcohol was at the bottom of the glass (which was the only time I actually tried a sip) was just god awful. Have no clue what it was but it was like turpentine. Not a balance cocktail, but maybe just putting it in a shaker to mix it might have helped. Whatever alcohol was on the bottom of the drink was not good at all. Staff was friendly. Lots of tv's to watch sports. We "might" come back to give it another try based on what the menu sounded like next time we are in the area.
