Tiny portions to add insult to injury. For $20 you get an entree that is the size of a tortilla chip.

Never again. I'm done. We had dinner tonight in Mountlake Terrace. After our plates were brought out our waitress didn't check on us, not ONCE. Interestingly she stopped by the table speaking to her in Spanish six times. Yes, SIX times before they even ordered their dinner. She walked by us each time and glared at us every single time. Maybe it was because we didn't order alcohol? Maybe because we didn't Spanish. Little did she know that I actually do speak Spanish and just got off from work where I am a certified interpreter. There were only 4 occupied tables plus one six top celebrating a birthday in the entire restaurant. I saw a few occupied tables in the bar. I take it from their lack of customers (revenue) that we are not the only ones who came away disappointed. We only continued to patronize Azteca because of a particular dish they make. Everything else is... meh. I had been a customer since 1994 at the Seattle location. When we moved to the north end we started going to the Lynnwood location which soon closed. We moved to the Mountlake Terrace location where we are treated like we are not welcome. The owners need to revisit their mission statement. "At Azteca Mexican Restaurant, our mission is to serve up more than just delicious food - we want to share the warmth, love, hospitality, and traditions of our Mexican heritage with every guest, every time."

Tacos Al Carbon (chicken)

After much deliberation, I recently chose Azteca to satisfy a Mexican food craving. I ordered Tacos Al Carbon with adobo chicken. The chicken pieces were tender, tasty, and good quality. The tortillas were very barely dipped in sauce, so they could've been more flavorful. I also wished there was more garnish; I loved the taco I ate with the pinch of ice burg lettuce sitting under the pico, but didn't have enough to enjoy the other two tacos the same way. Azteca's beans and rice are very yummy, and better than many other local places. That alone earns them a star! This review is based on a delivery order, so I can't speak to service or ambiance. I will note that the packaging was thoughtful and done with care, which is not something I can usually say about delivery orders. While I only ordered one dish, it was good enough that I'm looking forward to trying Azteca again to try others.

heads up! Huevos Rancheros is not on the menu, but you can order it off-menu. this location is my favorite. i haven't been here since the lock-down in 2020. and i'd forgotten how good the food is here. the chile verde and the huevos rancheros were just a delcious as i remembered. the pork in the chile verde was tender and not dry. the sauce had a slight kick to it. the eggs for the huevos rancheros were properly cooked to be soft yolk. the rice is well seasoned and not gloppy, and the refried beans are not mushy. love their salsa! it has a medium spicy kick to it, but it's not over-whelming. the restaurant was busy on sunday afternoon but service was attentive and efficient. although she was not the designated waiter for our table, Angelica checked on us frequently and was pleasant and upbeat. i will definitely ask for her table the next visit. time to go back and try my other favorites: chile relleno, sopa de azteca, chile colorada, enchiladas a la crema.

Friendly service, tasty food served piping hot, clean restaurant, very reasonable prices, easy parking. Nothing not to like about this AmerMex cuisine.

Chicken tortilla soup

My 7 year old granddaughter likes this restaurant. I didn't realize that what she likes is very Americanized. She had nachos with cheese, refried beans & rice. Hey at least she's eating something little more ethnic. Well, sort of. I am hoping she will eventually want to try something a little more authentic. My 2 year old granddaughter wanted chicken tenders with French fries. Help me, Lord! I ordered the chicken tortilla soup, as did my husband. It was actually pretty good! The broth was quite tasty. I love avocado in my soup. It had a bit of a kick to it! We also ordered queso cheese dip and a side of refried beans. I always base Mexican restaurants by their refried beans. These were pretty tasty! The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Chicken chimichanga. Tiny rice and beans. Foil container is the size of 8.5x11 piece of paper.

This is by far the worst azteca. If you care about good food and good customer service. Don't go here.

Recently, while visiting Edmonds, Washington, I joined some relatives for dinner at Casa Oaxaca. A…read moretiny restaurant in a nondescript shopping center, it was a great choice. We started with some tasty cocktails, including the jalapeño margarita. The food menu was extensive, offering a variety of options. We started with some chips, salsa, and guacamole before settling on the chile rellenos and the enchiladas, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The portions were quite large, allowing us to take some home for a midnight snack. On the evening that my group visited, the restaurant was quite busy, but our wait was only a few minutes. The wait staff was friendly, prompt and attentive. If in the Edmonds area, Casa Oaxaca is a great option for a nice meal.

There was no one in the restaurant and one server. She was helpful and nice. The music was appropriate for the vibe and they also had tvs with closed captions on them. I was a little shocked that when we ordered diet sodas, we were given some ice in a cup ... and a 12 oz can of diet soda. That wasn't my issue with the soda, the fact that I paid $3.50 for each can of soda... was a bit alarming. I'm all about supporting small businesses, that's the reason why we tried this place. BUT, I don't think it should cost $70 for 2 people for lunch. on a more positive note... the bathrooms WERE clean!

In long I've been wanting to try this place for a couple years, and having errands run late while we were in the area gave us the perfect opportunity to get in. There's not too much parking, but there IS an accessible spot by the door, and it's okay, anyway...'cause there's not too awfully much seating. 4 tables inside, 4 more outside, next to the pleasant whoosh of traffic on 99. I'd sit anywhere for this food, though. We had carnitas sopes, which were light and airy but still sturdy enough not to droop when you picked them up. Stacked so high with toppings that I had to wipe my beard after pretty much every bite. Carnitas had great flavor, and all the veg were tasting and chewing like they're super fresh. The quesabirria tacos were excellent. A little crunch and a lot of chew to the tortilla, great flavors throughout, and solid consomme. The salsa bar is kinda basic but does the job--pickled carrots, radishes, cucumbers, limes, couple other things. Red, green, and hot options in the cooler below the veg. The staff here are super nice, and the one single-occupant restroom is clean enough, huge for sure, and fully accessible. Narrow doorway but easy to pass through. These folks are on delivery apps and I see many breakfast burritos and other meals from them in my future. Most dishes are a couple bucks cheaper int-store, though.
