I keep coming back to the vada pav served by kadhai kitchen. I see cheaper vada pavs being sold around the Bay Area but the kind of taste, texture, milky buns and quality of the gram flour (besan) used by this beautiful local joint run by a family exceeds all expectations. Nothing beats their house made pavs, packaging and the way every order is carefully packed whether you order from their website or doordash. Everything from their flavors to packaging sets them apart and I would rather spend almost $6 on a vada pav here than skimp on quality and go for cheaper alternatives elsewhere. I order via both doordash and from their website. I request them to make the vadas fresh and hot and they always oblige. Rainy days in the Bay and you've got to try out this local gem! It is a small place that serves Bombay style street food. Limited seating. Self service, you need to order and wait at tables, which is very limited may be 10 people. Mostly it is a to go place. First we had ordered togo Pav Bhaji and cake being aware of space limit. But when we arrived to pickup they had space so we ordered few more dishes. One thing I can vouch is all are freshly made and they ran out of popular items. Pav Bhaji (Bread and Masala) , I was said they make their own pav which was evident from the taste, soft and melting in mouth. Masala was perfect, I would like little more kick, I will order next time extra spicy. Yes you have that option!. Comes with chopped onion and lemon wedge. Mattar Kachori, was hot and little oily. When opened up there was very little Mattar paste, there are no whole peas and the filling was underwhelming. Also generally they give spicy green chutney and sweet chutney. Here they gave only the sweet one and the the filling was not spicy either, so not a hit with me. I will not order this next time. Dabeli was very well balanced and the crunchy peanuts, made a big difference. Little bit on the the sweeter side, but well made. I love this place. It's easily the best vada pav place in California. I have been ordering vada pav almost weekly since discovering this. All my friends love the Vada pav here too. I have also tried their corn cutlets, dabeli and pav bhaji. Can skip the corn cutlets, but dabeli and pav bhaji were good. During weekends it is better to order early as they run out of vada pav soon. The restaurant is tiny with only 2 tables, so better to takeout. Parking can also get tricky sometimes. read more

I came here recently and only tried the vada pav here but it was delicious. You order at the counter and then someone brings your food out. I like that everything was neatly packed and made. The vada is not too big, but too small either. The sauce is already added. When you eat it nothing spills out which I appreciate. The flavors are all there. While everything is really clean and orderly inside, one suggestion would be to play some music so the ambiance is a bit more welcoming inside. The wada paav sells out by 6:30 or 7 pm, so if you are you going later than that,order it online and let them know you will pick it up at a later time. Here is what we tried: - Wada paav : 10/10! It took me back to Mumbai/Pune. It's the complete experience with garlic chutney, chura and mirchi - Dabeli : 10/10 - Paav Bhaji : 8/10. What can I say about Kadhai Kitchen? Excellence is a tiny word for the food and the quality. It's a to-go place and definitely a must try for street food lovers! The menu has limited items, which makes sense granted the effort they put in while making these delicious and savory food items. I've seen people complain about the so-called higher prices but they forget the food quality and the taste. Judging by the quality of the boxes they used to pack their food, it makes sense to command a decent price. Ambiance is ok, you can still enjoy your food there, I'd recommend take-out. I'm happy to pay a dollar or 2 extra for the exceptional taste that resembles the vada pav and Dahi Kachori from Mumbai. I had heard really good reviews about the Vadapaav here so came to try it but unfortunately they ran out of Batata Vadaas so come early to try Vadapavs. I did however try Dabeli and Dahi Papadi Chaat. Both the dishes were good. Service is pretty fast and people here are friendly. It's a small place with just 3-4 tables. The menu is limited but looks good. Their Vada Pav can pretty much compete with the best Vada Pav's from Mumbai. I find it totally worth the drive from Mountain View to here. I make sure to check if they have Vada Pav before driving over though, because they ran out once before, and asked me to call and check from the next time. I used to previously visit their food truck in Sunnyvale. I also love their Mutter Kachori, again, I don't think you'll get a better Kachori in the Bay Area. The Dabeli also pretty good. I think they recently added the Chole Bhature to their menu and I thought that wasn't upto the same standard as the other dishes, although still good. The Ragda in Ragda Pattice can be slightly watery at times. I would also vouch for their Pav Bhaji and their Corn Cutlet. I always love a good cutlet/kachori! The dine-in space is limited to 2-3 tables inside so I would say you would be better taking out from that perspective, although their food would be best enjoyed fresh. I was really looking forward to trying the vada pav here as it was recommended by hardcore Mumbaikars. This is a small business with not much place to sit, but is clean/ gives street eat vibes. Parking lot was full by the time we went for food pickup around 6pm on Friday. Probably because there is also an Indian grocery store, Taekwando studio, cleaners etc. in the same square. Got vada pav, ragda patty chat and matar kachori. Loved all of them. Vada pav - 5/5. Pav was fresh, vada was yum and the sauce/ spice powder right level of spicy. Matar Kachori-4/5 it was yum but had some oily taste to it Ragda patty chat - surprisingly the best of three. 5/5 Yummy and the patty was not soggy. Being from Mumbai, I am usually very wary and often disappointed when someone recommends a really good Vada paav an dit turns out average at best. I went in with the same guarded expectations, but was blown away! In my opinion, the paav makes this a whole lot better. Many places make good batata vada, but it's really the paav that can make or break a vada paav. I also love the fact that they've kept it plain and simple. No fancy variations to the humble vada paav. Definitely recommend this place 10000%. We also tried their ragda pattice and misal paav. Both were great! Its a family run joint and the people are friendly. Ordered a couple things from the menu. 1. Vada Pav: One of the tastiest I have had outside India. The vada, the chutney and specially the pav. I talked to the owner and was told they make the pav in-house. 2. Pav Bhaji: Very flavorful. Ordered extra pav which are toasted with butter. 3. Came out to the Sunnyvale Art and Wine festival for the weekend, it was awesome! They had great stands selling art and i felt lucky to stumble across this place.
