My family and I came in for a quick lunch after hiking around. It's a no frills place, it's straight to the point, and down to earth. The menu is basic American fair - nothing fancy. For the kids menu - Mac and cheese and chicken tenders with fries. My kids ate their food with no issue. Hubs got a simple burger and I ordered off the kids menu and got Shrimp with fries. Food was basic, it came out timely, everyone was super nice and attentive.

We came back for some dinner this time. Restaurant was still nice and the staff was great as always. They play some pretty good music too. Onto the good part, the food. The ham and mash were great says the wife. She enjoyed it. We shared some cheese sticks also which seemed to be home made. They were good. I had the chicken breast. It was seasoned well but was very over cooked and dry. The top looked great, the bottom not so much. I think that could definitely use some work at the price charged. With that being the only bad thing, I will still be back as I know that was just a bad night. So after not eating to much, we decided to try the in house made coconut pie. Hello melt in your mouth most wonderful taste ever. Whoever is baking them pies does it with love. I can't even describe it. It's just sometbing you have to experience. Thanks for what yall do.

The Appalachian Virginians have a cuisine and this is it. Simple, tasty, meat and potatoes pan fried deep fried country goodness that doesn't have that big city price tag. The food of the mountains isn't the barbecue of Eastern Carolina, the crab cakes of Maryland or the quintessential banal stuff of Northern Virginia or the USDA prime $teakhouse of DC. This is the good stuff that can be made from cows, yard birds, grains and fry oil with a helpin of veggies to balance out the meal. This little restaurant does this food the justice it deserves and serves it with a smile. If you are passing through Wardensville on the way to a camping trip or a ski vacation it's worth the stop.

First, my rating system. Three stars if I'd go back, four if I want to be a regular, and five if I'd go out of my way to be a customer. We stopped here after a weekend of backpacking in the area at about noon. We were a party of six and although the restaurant was busy, we were seated quickly. Breakfast stopped at 11am, but the menu offered plenty of choices. The turkey dinner special was good, as were the burgers. One of the party had the chocolate cake and raved about it. Our server was really good, fast and accurate. Prices were pretty good, what I consider a good value. We'll be back if in the area.

They know you're an outsider. Friendly staff'; bland typical food you find in rural wv areas. Lots of bad food.

I love the vibe and energy of this place, modern yet vintage! Looks like it was an old church in days gone by? The place is pretty big and pretty wide open so I imagine can become loud when it gets full. I ordered a rose from a local winery and the burger. (I was hangry). I took my number and sat wherever I wanted. I sat in front of a giant tv on the wall with pre superbowl stuff going on. My wine came out quickly, it was very nice! The burger came out next, it had cheese, lettuce, tomato and a bacon jam that was just right! The burger was juicy and I loved every bite of it! The burger came with fries that were very hot and crispy!! Zero complaints!!

A group of 16 of us booked for the weekend and I honestly can't think of enough great things to say. Seriously, everything about this place was AMAZING! I organized the trip, so I got to work with one of the owners, Jesse, to get everything set up. He was helpful, responsive, accommodating, and really kind. I organize a lot for my friends and myself, and this was one of the easiest. Upon arrival we were checked in by the other owner, Gary, who immediately made us feel like we were at home. He gave us a wonderful tour of the property and told us everything we needed to know for a wonderful stay. This property is nestled in the hills of WV and the views are STUNNING! Every space and room is beautifully appointed, really leaning into the upscale rustic vibe you'd expect in a mountain retreat. So many beautiful nooks and crannies to sit and read or play games or just nap. The pool and hot tub are gorgeous and Logan at the pool bar will take amazing care of you! They provide a complimentary breakfast of freshly cooked eggs, meats, and biscuits/scones. The lunch and dinner menus are varied and everything we had was delicious. Our servers, Rain (spelling ??) and Angie were stellar and the ambience was just perfect. Every single one of us left feeling refreshed and we were all sad to leave. Do yourself a favor and make the trek out to Lost River and treat yourself. This place is amazing and I'm already planning my next trip here with my partner.

However, our visit was overshadowed by our concern for the wellbeing of the mini horse at the entrance. As I understand it, horses are social herd animals, so it's quite unfortunate to see this guy living in solitude without companionship. Also, his shelter seemed fairly small, with limited shading, and mostly on a steep hill that was largely unattended to. These were our general observations while visiting. Maybe this pretty pony has another home he visits and is there temporarily to entertain visitors? We couldn't be sure. Regardless, I hope others share in this concern and that the owners consider ways to improve this guy's digs and, ultimately, quality of life.

So that what we tried. They serve breakfast all day and offer carry out. Walking in, it was the standard, small town welcome. Everyone (staff and patrons) looks at you and stares. Even after you say hello, they just stare at you. As a person of color who has been refused service in a small town restaurant (Lynchburg VA) I get really self conscious. I was not sure if was order up or seat yourself. There were no signs or staff instructions. Luckily our friendly and lovely waitress ( Mickey) acknowledged my wife and I. We got our seat and ordered. Lots of seating options. Can seat groups of up to 6. The menu has lots of options, but even more are posted on the wall...they have something for everyone. The portions are big and prices are very decent. Our waitress was friendly but slow only because she was the only one in the front and the place was packed it took over an hour to get our food. Having time to sit ana wait for our food. It appeared that the kitchen staff was new and the morning staff ended their shift as we got there. So with lack of proper turn over, there was a bit of confusion. The food was OK. Nothing to spectacular but not bad or poor quality. They had scrapple which is hard to find.
