Went there for lunch for the first time and ordered a gyro wrap. I am a gyro nut. I love gyros. People seem to rave about kabobs there but, since I have little time to eat and didn't want to spend over $10 for lunch, I ordered the gyro for about $7 before tax. The place provide free hot tea so I was pleased, since sweet sodas kill the tast bud. My gyro came out carefully wrapped in thick industrial aluminum foil. Surprisingly, it came with fries!! It took 3 turns to unwrap my gyro. I discovered that naan was used as the wrap. First bite was dry, as there was only naan and gyro meat in my mouth. I was thinking "where's the sauce, onion, lettuce and tomato?!!" A few more bite of dry ingredients eventually led me to some lettuce and tomato and some sauce. Finally, what a relief! Unfortuantely, the gyro still tasted so dry with insufficient sauce and other ingredients that I was longing for. Oh, well. I thought I have found a great gyro place. There is so many kabob places (with Charcoal Chicken in Herndon being the best of course!) in the area, and this one stands out. Not much to say, everything was delicious and juicy. The naan was not the best I've had, but the lamb and chicken kabobs were great. A nice touch is their lunch buffet, although its a bit limited, it gives you a good way to try out different sides they have on their menu and perhaps meats you were never quite sure of and therefore didn't want to order an entire kabob entree and end up not liking it. We love this place. We always do take out orders. our faivoret for all time is the falafel. It is very yummy and addictive :). Portion sizes change with menu selection. I didn't realize how apparent this was until the waitress brought me the wrong order (K1) and replaced with my original order the (K13). The chicken chunks went from nice size meaty chunks in the K1 option to really small scrawny pieces in the K13. While the flavor was good, I couldn't get past the size switcharoo. Terrible service. Dont waste your time. It takes forever to get your food. The woman with the nose ring was so rude when she called out our order. Instead of using the order # that appears on your receipt, she just called out the type of kabob it was. A few other people had the same order, but she did not know whose it was and gave us a huge attitude when we asked what the order # was. After going there a few times at lunch and getting FREE white sauce, she suddenly started trying to charge us for the "extra" sauce. The food was alright, I had been craving some of the desserts they had but sadly they had been out so I couldn't get what I had wanted. Also they had coupons which said if I bought a certain amount id receive a gift card for $5 because I had bought a lot of food but I did not receive my card nor did I get the extra rice I had been promised due to the misunderstanding. This has always been our favorite kabob place. Chicken is fantastic. Unfortunately their sides could be better and my son prefers extra rice. No problem until yesterday when I was told that extra rice cannot replace a side any more due to a management decision. Seems silly since rice is less expensive to them than a vegetable but they held firm. Luckily there are other kabob options. This place is clean, roomy, and offers a comfertable dining experience. They have delicous kabob sandwhiches (the best in the area) because the kabobs are tasty, and the bread is amazing. Their kabuli palou, rice, kabobs and bolanee are extremley delicous. My favourite thing about this place is that they have pan fried bolanee on their menu, which is bread that is filled with potatoes and onions, and theirs is the best in the area. The problem with this place is the menu is just too big, and instead of doing a few things well, they offer too many dishes and most are very mediocre. For example they have mantu which is delicous if prepared correctly, but their mantu is disgusting its soggy, the inside has more onions then actual ground beef, and the sauce is extremley spicy which is uncharacteristic of Afghan food, I mean its a kabob joint so why serve nasty mantou and risk their reputation? The kurmas here are completley inedible particularly the kufta kurma and eggplant kurma. The kufta kurma is not meatballs, but ground beef drowning in oil and everytime I have unfortunatley ordered it the meat has been red and uncooked. The eggplant kurma (which when prepared properly is fried not stewed kurma) is this squishy eggplant stew that is also drowned in oil and very slimy. These dishes are completley disgusting and emberassment to Afghan cuisine. Also they serve like 7 types of salad, and I wish they would serve the traditional Afghan salata with their dishes, rather then waste their menu space with a bunch of pointless salads. The kabobs I have had are delicous, except the chaplee kabob which tasted like a overseasoned hamburger and did not have the soft texture of chaplee kabob. The staff that is part of the Afghan family that owns it is very friendly, but they have some sketch Asians and Hispanics working there that are very rude and unhelpful. Overall if you order the basic kabob or rice dishes they are delicous, but the more sophisticated menu items and kurmas need to be improved or taken out of the menu. I will definitley be returning because the things they prepare well are delicous, but there are alot of dissapointing dishes on their menu. read more

So I had a friend talk about this place when it first opened up a while ago, but I never stopped in for some food. Mostly because there are a lot of kabob places to choose from, and it just slipped from my mind for a while. Well I went there with my friend the other week, and wow, I was really missing out. We ordered the appetizer combo and the lamb/chicken kabobs. As with every one else here, the lamb was amazing, really impressive, super moist and flavorful and hot off the grill. We also had the potato and leak pattie which also had a lot of flavor. We actually could have done without either the appetizer or the entree, as these are huge portions. the food just kept coming. A meal for 2 was just under 20 bucks and we had some left over to snack on the next day. They have a lunch buffet that I want to try out now too. I will absolutely be going back. read more
