One of my favorite Persian restaurant! And the only restaurant I know they haven't raised their prices! Thumbs up for keeping the low prices and delivering the same quality and portions! They have a wonderful location right on Clarendon metro, excellent food, great service and very decent prices. The waitress was very friendly and smiling all the time although I've had few requests... But she kept that smile on. I usually get kabab. I've tried their fish kabab, chicken and ground beef. Everything was delicious. They also have some authentic Persian dishes on the menu. Usually I'm not a big fan of rice. But they have this rice is to DIE FOR!!! Whenever I find myself in an unfamiliar place (admittedly this happens a lot) and hungry I turn to the ever-useful Yelp mobile. Tuesday afternoon was no different. After a meeting I planned to take Deanna J for a tasty lunch. The only directive she'd given me was "no Thai food." Since I'm lately on a kabob kick (who doesn't love meat on a stick?) I was immediately intrigued by the highly rated Kabob Bazaar that popped up very near to our meeting place. We braved the whipping winds of Clarendon to make it to this homey feeling restaurant. We scoured the menus taped up on the glass deli cases and ordered up a pile of food including a couple of kabob plates and the vegetarian combination which came with falafel and other goodies. I ended up with just about the juiciest jujeh kabob imaginable. The portion was enormous but we were in it for the long haul and just kept eating and eating. I was less impressed with the falafel and the yogurt sauce (two of my favorites, ordinarily) but the chicken kabob was so delicious it trumped pretty much everything else. Decent kabobs with alright flavor. Honestly this place is great for food. I can find zero problems with that as far as that goes. My problems lie with the service and customer service. I'd give that a 2/5 based on the pure fact they're pretty rude. At least the one lady who took our order, and the guy that was giving refills on water begrudgingly. I felt sort of bad for him because he seemed like he hated his job or he was having a really bad day. I had to track him down for a refill after he passed my table 4 or 5 times and looking dead at our table seeing that we needed items cleared and water refills. I wouldn't call myself a newbie to kabobs, but I can't think of a time in the past when I was completely satisfied with kabob. I had a chicken kabob with kubideh combo following Yelp's review highlights, but I thought the kubideh was kinda plain. The chicken, on the other hand, was surprisingly good! Nothing wasn't burnt, but next time, I'll try something else (like lamb) because the chicken definitely wasn't as juicy as I had expected. I was kinda surprised that the only vegetable on my plate was a single tomato (sliced in half) - definitely should of ordered a salad on the side. Probably not the best place for dinner, but the portions were decent enough and it was relatively quiet. Service was average, though our meal did come with falafels and yogurt. I was visiting DC from Southern California and I enjoy trying new Persian food restaurants. I was dying of hunger and I popped into this place. I honestly don't know why they have four stars (compared to Shamishiry that has 4 stars too) we ordered joojeh kabab and ghorme sabzi. Our food was not even hot. Very mediocre food and the service was just okay. Tip: If you really wanna get a taste of REAL Persian food save yourself a trip and go directly to Shamshiry. read more

Quality food, good portions, great value! I'm no kebab expert, but this place has some pretty tasty kebabs! The first time I was here was for lunch with coworkers. I got the lamb sish kebab which was very good. I made the mistake of getting naan as my side instead of rice... the naan is good but the meal already comes with naan so I ended up with double the amount I could possibly eat! Service was decent. The next time I came here I ordered takeout and got the chicken soltani kebab combo (one chicken, one beef) with rice and it is now my go-to takeout order! My favorite Persian restaurant in all of DMV. I always get the kashk-e-bademjoon (eggplant appetizer) and eat it with the fresh bread. This last time I was there I got the barg (filet mignon kabob) and jujeh (chicken kabob) with rice. It was pretty pricey. The plate was $23, but in actuality is cheaper than flying to Iran for the authentic deal. When you get the tea, ask for it with the teapot because otherwise you'll get a giant mug. My first experience 2 yrs ago: Delicious Ash Anar, Good Kalle Pache for brunch, descent kabab barg Second time: Good Kashko bademjan, mediocre Ash, but the service was terrible Third time: mediocre kabob, mediocre service Fourth time: I went on the weekday for lunch (2 days ago) and ordered baghai polo and lamp shank, and Ash Reshteh. The Ash reshteh didnt taste anything like Ash at all. The entree, the lamb smelled really bad and didnt taste good. The rice was tasteless and not enough herbs. In total I would rate this restaurant mediocre and suggest you go if you crave for persian food but cant drive to DC or Vienna. read more

There is so much more to Persian food than just kabobs, and I have realized that thanks to Kabob Bazaar. I cannot praise their Specials menu enough, but unfortunately those specials are only offered on the weekend. I personally love the FESENJOON (chicken in a pomegranate sauce), but everything else that I've tried on their special menu has also been delicious (my new favorite is a saffron stew). Even their noor paneer sabzi is the best I've ever had (and what a generous portion for $5)! Ultimately, the food is good but the place is quite dirty and the staff's sanitation methods are questionable. Things that concerned me was staff wearing gloves to touch all things...touch phones, raw food, salad, make bread, going to back of store...all without changing glove. To all the kind people who follow my reviews, I no longer live in Houston. I moved to District of Columbia. Being new in the area and a kitchenless Airbnb; I have been eating out every day. within the past month at least I have been coming to Kabob Bazaar at least 4 times a week. Atmosphere is modest, welcoming and comfortable. Restrooms are always well stocked and clean. The food is simply awesome. Daily specials are another story. Everyday they have a delicious traditional meal. There is a very kind gentelman "Abbas Agha" whom I dont know what is his position here but he takes care off everybody. Very kind, very hospitable. They also serve a complimentary herb and bread basket(fresh, clean and right portion) which has a yogurt sauce coming with it. That yogurt sauce you just have to try it. I have almost tried all of the persian restaurant in USA, Rumis, Reza's , Caspian you name it, Kabob Bazaar within this short period of time is already among my top 3 . 3.5 - I really have mixed feelings about this place. On one side, their service is pretty good, but their restaurant is probably not the most kempt (the gum by my foot, the flies by our table...) I ordered chicken soltani (delivery via Amazon). The food arrived hot and fresh! It was a generous portion and it did include a piece of bread and a little herb salad. That was a pleasant surprise as I thought it only came with rice. The chicken was juicy and it was definitely freshly grilled. The lamb/beef kubideh kabob was ok, it needed more flavor. I love kabobs at Irani restaurants, but Kabob Bazaar doesn't make them like the other restaurants I'm used to. (ie, there should be chopped herbs/onions ground up in the meat). The rice was good, but as mentioned already, other Irani restaurants serve dill rice, which I just love. I will definitely return when I'm in the area to try other menu items. read more

I love this place! It's so, so much better than Moby Dick's just down the street (and elsewhere in the DC area). But don't be deceived by the name focusing on kabobs: it's also a lot more diverse than Moby Dick's, because it's a full restaurant that seems to be one of the best places for experiencing Persian cuisine in the area. Compared to Moby Dick's, the bread is dramatically better: cooked and leavened just right, instead of the flat/stale taste down the street. Kabobs come with lots of fresh, raw greens/radishes too. And the folks running the place are really friendly (so much nicer than their neighbors to the right, that's for sure). Highly recommended for both dine-in and take-out. read more

We shared the hummus and the bread was yum and so was the hummus. I ordered the shish kabob medium with bread. I wish I had ordered rice, but it cost more and I didn't want to pay more. :-) That said, the shish kabob wasn't medium, it was cooked a little more but it was still juicy and tender. I loved the grilled veggies (onion, mushroom, tomato, green pepper), and I thought in conjunction with the bread, prime beef, and tzatziki sauce, the resulting combination was awesome. I love the food at this place. They have a mixture of everything, kabobs, different stews, sandwiches, and even more rarer Iranian dishes that you wouldn't expect. Service is always very prompt and friendly. Food is fresh and comes out quickly. I love ordering the chicken and ground beef kabob. Chicken is consistently moist and juicy, ground beef is always so flavorful. Each meal is accompanied by fresh baked bread and a yogurt cucumber sauce that is packed with flavor. They also provide onions and greens with each meal, that really brings it all together.
