Persian tea

We came to this restaurant for one goal & one goal only... to have Kaleh Pacheh. Kaleh Pacheh is a traditional Persian dish consisting of sheep's head, tongue, brain, eyes & trotters that is served as a breakfast soup!!! Ummm!! Yes you read that right. Certainly an acquired taste and most certainly not for everyone. I'm a firm believer of don't knock it till you try it. And I went 38 years without trying it. But it was finally time. Quite the site watching my beloved so happy having this dish after almost 6 years. I swear she would order another one if she had room for more. I must say, I didn't dislike it! lol Thank you Kabob Bazaar for a hell of a throwback.

Kabob Bazaar has been in business for years and years and a casual and delicious meal in this friendly environment is the reason why.  The menu offers a large variety of kabobs as well as stews and other dishes.  We opted for a bit of both and were not disappointed.  We started with the pita and hummus which was a very generous portion.  Then we all passed around the barg kabob, shish kabob, fessenjoon and the dizzi sangi.  Everything was well cooked and flavorful.  We had never had fessenjoon before and it was fun to see it prepared tableside.  The staff was very helpful and kept our tea glasses well filled with a wonderfully fragrant spiced tea.  It was great to see all the families enjoying a meal together as much as we did during our time there.  We finished our meal with the baklava which was beautifully presented.  I tend to like my baklava with a little more honey but it was light and flaky and a great way to end our lunch.

This is my favorite Persian restaurant in the area - it's always a positive casual dining experience with friendly attentive staff and the most flavorful dishes!

This was my main squeeze for many, many years. But sadly, I recently moved away from the DC area. But every time I go back, kabob bazaar is always waiting for me. I love this place. I can't believe I've never left a review for it. My go-to is always the salmon kabob and Kaleh pache (lamb head stew) on Sundays. I can't wait to come back and eat here again! I miss my Persian food

This place still holds up. Started going to Kabob Bazaar back in 2010 with my coworkers. Went back last night and the food taste and quality remain top tier. The same staff are there and keeping the business going. The most recent renovations make the place look brighter. I'll keep going back!

I always walk by this place and want to try it but didn't get around to it until a few weeks ago. Placed a pickup order and it was ready a couple minutes before they said it would so pickup was very fast. The employees at the door and the bar were both very friendly. We ordered the kubideh kabob, jujeh kabob, kashk-e-bademjan, and a side of shireen polo and plain basmati. The chicken was surprising juicy (I don't love chicken breast) but the kubideh was just a tad dry. Both had very very good flavor though and I would get both again. The kashk-e-bademjan (eggplant dip) was incredible and I will probably get this every time we go here it was that good. The shireen polo was a tad sweet for me but still really good. We want to try the other 2 specialty rices as well, but the plain basmati is hard to beat. It looks like it still has saffron and some kind of butter or oil on it, it was anything but plain, so good. Last thing is the portion sizes. 2 meals and 2 sides was enough for probably 3.5 meals for us so the portions were definitely generous Will absolutely be back to try more of the food!

Food is good. It meat could be more tender. Atmosphere is nice. Service is excellent.

We have been a regular at Kabob Bazaar for well over a decade and they never fail to disappoint. Today they catered a luncheon for 30 and it was amazing. We went with the chicken kabob (their best protein option, inho) Shireen Polo (Basmati Rice with orange peel, saffron, almonds and pistachios), a tray of grape leaves, salad, fresh herbs and their delicious homemade bread with spicy yogurt dipping sauce. The food was perfectly prepared and ready for my pickup. They even loaned me some special insulated bags to transport it and keep it warm. They are friendly and accommodating. So many of our guests wanted to know where the food came from that I ended up printing out their contact info and passing it out!

Kabob Bazaar serves Persian cuisine and the staff was so friendly! We started off with a bread basket with yogurt sauce. Most of the entrees are kabob based and the platter comes with a bed of rice, two pieces of roasted tomatoes. We were recommended corn hen for chicken, Barg for beef, and Shishleek for lamb kabobs. There are many options for combination platters too if you want to try different meats. We got the lamb soltani, which came with a skewer of kubideh (beef) and one lamb. Dizzi Sangi was on the specials menu and I really liked it! It's a lamb stew that came in a crock pot and you wrap it in bread with raw onions and pickled vegetables. We came on a Saturday evening and we're seated right away. We enjoyed the meal and would love to come back again and try other items on their specials menu!

Really disappointing. We bought two entrees and both were disappointing. The Fish kabob in particular was inedible due to extreme dryness.

I first tried the assorted kebabs. Unfortunately, the chicken had dried out and the kofta felt too crumbly. The chicken rice dish had quite aromatic rice but underseasoned chicken; seasoned rice alone can't substitute bland chicken drumsticks. The lamb rice dish had both aromatic rice and juicy, well seasoned lamb. I ended up combining the lamb pieces with the chicken rice. Out of curiosity, I tried a piece of their fried chicken. It proved juicy and not too oily. It would do well as a standalone appetizer in most restaurants. I also tried something that looked like lasagna, but without tomato. It tasted, to my uncultured palate, like a lasagna with some sort of cream or bechamel-like sauce. I quite enjoyed it. For dessert, my friend convinced me to try what I had initially passed over as oatmeal or tapioca pudding. The Omi Ali proved quite delectable, like a cross between bread pudding and oatmeal but with more nuanced spices and sweetness. I added it to my short list of desserts I enjoy, since I don't have much of a sweet tooth. Overall, I appreciated the breath and variety. Some hits and misses are to be expected at a homely, ethnic neighborhood style buffet.

We only ordered drinks, and to start, we had the pistachio espresso martini. It was so delicious. The rim of crushed pistachios was the perfect touch. My second drink was the lemon elixir, and although I'm not a fan of the tartness of lemon, I did really like this drink. I think the creaminess overshadowed the tartness for me. My last drink of the night was the orange dreamsicle. This was definitely my favorite out of the three! It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and had a creaminess to it that I enjoyed. On top of the tasty drinks, we had an amazing waiter! He made sure to explain all the drinks to us and he was very accommodating. I'll definitely be back to visit next time I'm in the area!

The octopus was OK and the tzatziki was decent. The fries were the only really tasty dish of the night. I'd skip Layli as not one single dish made us want to come back, especially for the price. At that time, the establishment only had a one other table occupied so seating occurred immediately. As I perused the menu, my focus landed on the tajins / stews. The ox tail, okra lamb, and cow feet tajins all looked delectable. I settled on the cow feet tajin ($20), served with rice. That arrived after about 10 minutes, piping hot in an earthenware bowl. Just looking at the glisten and the viscosity while spooning the stew, I could tell that the cow hocks had simmered long enough to melt and release collagen into the stew. The tendons came off the bone like the proverbial hot knife through butter. The stock proved rich in texture and flavor without overwhelming the palate. Whatever additional seasonings went into it enhanced the clear stock's savoriness without imparting a different direction to the palate. This epitomized the ostensible simplicity of a dish belying sheer time and effort to perfect a dish. As an aside, this sort of laborious effort resembled long simmered Cantonese stews that I grew up with. Hilariously enough, the only other occupied table was also an Arabic guy bringing his Asian friend along. Speaking of Arabic friends, my friend ordered the king koshary ($12) and had me try a bite. The texture contrasts of the varied grains, the crispy onions, and the savory tomato-based koshary sauce, seemed irresitible. I understood why it became a signature national dish.

It was literally in the alley, and was giving Covid setup. Definitely would not recommend the outdoor area to anyone. There was no music, the decor was fine but again, looked very subpar and you could tell everyone else that arrived and sat outside after us had the same thoughts. Now to the food. I will say all of it was good, but for the price? I could find another Middle Eastern adjacent restaurant in DC for less money. It was a little outrageous in my opinion. We did choose the tawle experience. The dips with good, and came with endless flatbread. But it was interesting how some of the portions were huge and then others felt like they were skimping. We got huge portions of pickled vegetables and a giant salad, but then when it came to the shrimp kabobs we ordered, we got 5 pieces of shrimp. I will say the steak portion we chose we large, but then again for dessert, it was just a half mason jar size of a chocolate mousse to split...It was just interesting. Several of the staff knew it was our anniversary and they could've given maybe an additional dessert or a glass of champagne but nothing. Again for a restaurant of this caliber, you would just expect more. I say all of this to say, we did have a gift card that covered most of our $300+ meal. But if I were going without that, I would've been even more disappointed. I know people have raved about this place for years, but the original chefs have changed, and I'm understanding more why they've lost their Michelin star.
