This review is for a pre COVID dinner. I had to come back to write up a review as we had a delicious meal for a birthday celebration. Our order was: 1. Tikki Chaat 2. Cauliflower Manchuria 3. Dal Maharani 4. Shahi Paneer 6. Chicken Tikka Masala 7. Naans (Mixed) All the dishes were on point. The service was a slightly slow but that was probably because the restaurant was still kinda new at the time we went. We were well taken care of while we were dining so I would imagine that service would not be an issue once the staff has it all figured out. read more

I really like the food and the ambience at Kabilla. We have eaten dinner there and been to the lunch buffet many times. One piece of advice: if you go to the buffet go between noon and one as selections can run low and not be replaced. read more

Issues: - the laminated menus were dirty - just two menus for six people - they have a bar with cheap but high priced liquors and no bar tender - for some strange reason, one has to go to the bar to order, except for beer - food came out randomly - the spice level "medium" was inconsistent across the dishes - serving spoons were sad - water was not refilled - dessert was not suggested - they only take two credit cards for a group. What! Why? We ordered: Appetizers- - chicken tandoori: slightly over cooked - fish kabab - delicious but came after the entrees Entrees- - lamb - great curry but the pieces were chewy - paneer bhurji - perfect - malai kofta - 4 small koftas floating in a lot of gravy. The koftas were missing the advertised clotted cream. - bhindi - not crispy, in spite of special request - naans, lachha parathas - ok - rice There were plenty of servers who kept rotating. No one seemed happy to be there. No efforts to engage with the customers. Overall, food is good but the experience can be much better. read more

I didn't eat Indian food that often, but sometimes I would have a craving for it. Passed by this place a few times so one day my wife and I decided to try out their lunch buffet. Iirc it was $25 per person, which is reasonable imo. They have a very good selection of various curries and the normal Indian dishes we all know. I tried almost everything and especially liked the shrimp curry...though it was quite spicy! The spice suddenly crept up on me during the meal that I had to take a short break. must had 3 helpings of food plus the nann and we were so full in the end. I would totally go back again soon. This place has a decent choices for their Monday through Friday buffet. While the food was tasty, I found it too spicy for my taste. The naan which is one of my favorite to dip into butter chicken was not very fresh and fluffy like I'm used to. I probably won't go back to this place because I wouldn't be able to bring my young grandkids because the food is too spicy. I miss my Favorite Indian buffet which used to be in Dublin. Came by today on the way to Costco as I was hungry. The food used to be excellent, but it definitely lacked flavor, and was very bland. The tandoori chicken was horrible and most likely cheap substandard meat. The only items that were decent were the appetizers, the rice pudding and the hot tea. The naan was bland and came as I was almost done with my meal. The service was completely lacking and there was a salty attitude by the host and server. Maybe because i was a female, or just by myself, but that is a real turnoff. I left knowing I won't be bringing guests here for a meal or celebration. read more

Good food and ambience. Generous portions as well. We got mix pakoda (3 stars)- it was tasty but felt refried and not fresh leaving some portions a little too crispy. Aloo tikki chaat was overall good, only complaint would be the taste of the oil used for frying Tikkis. It tasted like dalda back in India or Maybe oil going rancid (I hope not!). We also got dal maharani, shahi paneer, and mixed breads- everything tasted good. Paratha are tandoori paratha which had good amount of filing and tasted well. I really like this place for the food and cleanliness. It's pretty inside, clean, and the food is consistently great. My family and I have had the buffet multiple times and dinner twice at this location. Service was EXTREMELY slow every single time. If they can make that better, then I would give this place 5 stars- hands down! I do have to say though, I really appreciate the ambiance of the restaurant. One of my most positives about this place is how this restaurant feels inside. Not seeing stacked supplies, sticky floors, and grime on the walls is such a plus while enjoying dinner with my family. Totally disappointed! I was looking forward to this place. The decor and style bright me in. Food is 30-40% more expensive but I figured it might be good. Well, the service was questionable, slow and spotty. Every single dish we ordered except for kima Naan was a reheated dish. The appetizer veggie pakora is primarily made of flour. The chicken tandoori has to be fresh if you charge $20 for 8 princes dark meat. Chicken tikka masala was very average. Dhaba Bhindi was most tastiest but very oily. Waitress never smiled or said thank you. I think there are much better options around at much lower prices. Oh and the best part the place was full and a party was going on next door and people were waiting for over 30 minutes. read more

Kabila is the brand new addition to the restaurant line up in San Ramon. The space was once occupied by Uncle Yu's and has been transformed to an Indian buffet and bakery. We confirmed that Kabila is associated with Inchin Bamboo Garden but during our visit none on the negative aspects have transferred from IBG. The staff was friendly and very attentive. The day we went we ran into our neighbors who were also trying their offerings. Business was brisk with several large parties. The kitchen although new kept up with the patrons refilling the buffet line items. Fish pankora Goat curry Palak paneer Veggie and chicken biryani Samosa Chicken tandoori Aloo gobi plus salad, fruits and dessert sweets. Naan breads were served at the table. Chai tea was located at the beginning of the buffet table. Nice upscale decor and place settings ( no knife ) The only knock was they don't have enough servers or bussers to handle their sudden success. First, healthy, happy, and wealthy 2020 if you are reading this! My first review for 2020 is the relatively new Kabila Indian restaurant opening up in San Ramon. It takes over from the old Uncle Yu's Restaurant that permanently shuttered after a fire. I came here for lunch buffet, and at $16/pp it seems only suited for Crazy Rich Indians, LOL! Actually the price is not bad considering the variety, quality, service, and cleanliness here. I liked more than 80% of the items I tried, and with good service and ambiance I'm rounding up to 5 stars. Their buffet was good, though not sure if its 50% better than say, Favorite Indian off Alcosta which has a $10/pp buffet or so. One additional plus is that Kabila is much closer to home for me. I'm definitely open to come back for dinner to try their ala carte options. Impressions from their lunch buffet: 1. Chicken here is moist, tender, and juicy - than includes bone-in tandoori chicken and their boneless Chicken Makhani (butter chicken). 2. Bone-in Goat Curry was also very tender, meat that fall-off-the bone. 3. Aloo Gobi (curried cauliflower) and potatoes were my favorite veggie dish - fresh, crispy and not gooey cauliflower with loads of flavor. The Palak (creamed spinach) had a pleasant spiciness. 4. They have several fried items here - my favorite is definitely the fish pakora. Lightly breaded and soft, piping hot and seasoned fish meat underneath. 5. Desserts are always a mixed bag for me at Indian restaurants. Custard was smooth and sweet, though they snuck some pineapple in it. Gulab Jamun were good - the smaller diameter means you can feel less guilty if you have one or two. I was less a fan of the candies - they seemed a bit flakey. Note that if you want more desserts, they have Kabila Sweets right next door which offers all sorts of Indian pastries and candies. I didn't know what half of those items were so hopefully they get labels next time. read more

We specified "not spicy" in our instructions, but the Saag Paneer was still quite spicy when it arrived, and we didn't even finish eating it, which is why we're giving four stars. Came here for the lunch buffet and I love the variety of different curries and dishes available to choose from. The staff was very attentive with replenishing our basket when the hot naan was low. So we went there on Mother's Day, I have gone there previously as well, just not on a special occasion though. And they had the same buffet spread, just more expensive than usual. The food options were very limited, and kept running out easily. Next, the service is awful. They serve the naan basket right when you walk in, which makes it cold by the time you eat it. I told the waiter about the cold naans and he made such a face and said "you can see it's a busy day". So obviously they don't care about the customer. Half the time there was only ras in the rasmalai, and no actual sweet. Ambiance isn't too bad, which is why I decided to come here instead of going to South Bay! I have been a monthly visitor to Kabila. I have had nothing but positive experience for the most part. However, I had a very different experience today afternoon 11/21/2024. The food felt stale. It seemed that the curries both veg and non-veg were not freshly prepared but they re used left overs. I did not overeat but still felt very sick after eating the lunch. I've been missing Indian sweets (tons of coworkers and friends who used to bring them in to work) and been craving it. I've told mom about Hotspot in San Ramon so thought we try this place for first time. We came in. Crickets. Not busy there either around 1pm. I even said out loud wondering if anyone is at the shop to help us. I walked two feet over and saw a guy just sitting there. Asked if he can help us with the sweets. Boy he was NOT INTERESTED in helping at all. Very dismissive attitude and felt like he had better things to do. "You want 1 lbs? 1/2 lbs?" We just wanted to sample some so got a 1/2 lbs. After selecting some, he tosses the box onto the scale and goes "see already 1/2 lbs." Not going back to see more attitude. Going to drive further out to Hotspot instead. Couple of weeks back my family went to try out the buffet. Before that I have tried many of there A La Carte menus. Both veg and non veg are good. In buffet, Minimum item but the quality of food is good. Special the paneer curry and the Nana, it's just reminded me India. Service was good.
