Spicy stir fried udon with squid + beef at the front and dukbokki in the back
Cindy D.

My coworkers and I were craving Korean food and opted to going here during our lunch break. There were 5 of us and we were worried they did not have space but luckily there was space. I ordered stir fried udon with squid and beef with dukbokki for my coworkers to try. The udon was pretty good, it was sauce and not spicy. Rice cakes were okay. Prices were very expensive, I was shocked to see the menu prices. For both dishes, it came to be almost $55 with tax and group tip. Super pricey.

It was not busy during the Saturday evening when we dined. There were only 2 other diner groups other than us who were present. The service was alright. We placed an order for Kam Ja Tang, a beef bulgogi dish, and bulgogi poutine. When the order for Kam Ja Tang came, I did not initially recognize what it was. I asked, and they mentioned it was Pork Back-Bone Stew. After some clarification, it was cleared up that it was one and the same just the Korean term for it. The food was good. There was sufficient serving of the Kam Ja Tang, and its soup was rich and very flavourful. I was not sure if I was a little full before coming here or if there was a lot of the Bulgogi Poutine, but I was not able to finish it. I found some slight issue that they already gave the impression of wanting to clear our table early. After finishing our meal, we were just idling a little and keeping comfortable in our seats chatting and on our phones. The server then came, offered to take away the plates & bowl, and asked how we wanted to pay. It was a slow night, and there were a lot of other open table seating so there should be no reason to clear our table to make it open. I would rather I ask for the bill when I am done and ready to leave rather than the bill payment set by the restaurant just so they can get it over with.

Ka Chi - beef bulgogi bibimbap

Catching up at Ka Chi again for a homely Korean meal. It's few years since I last visited Ka Chi, it's long been one of our favourite Korean restaurants in the GTA. Each location is quite authentic when the pork bone soup is so good. This time, I came for the Dolsot Bibimbap. That colourful array of veggies mixed with beef bolgogi and runny egg on top of a bed of rice. Mix together in the hot stone pot and add sweet spicy gochujang for a satisfying meal each & every time.

Udon noodles with spicy pork with vegetables on hot plate

My hubby & I came here for lunch yesterday. We were walking along Dundas & this place caught our eyes due to a large number of pictures with food items and descriptions stuck on an outside wall. I quickly looked it up on Google reviews and it was rated 3.9 which is okay for me to try. I got my usual order of Gamjatang regular spicy. You can get it mild, regular spicy or extra spicy which is nice as I have never seen this being offered at any other Korean restaurant. Omgoodness it was sooooo good. The pork was fall off the bone tender. Still slightly pink and full of flavor. I got 3 pieces in my bowl & there was so much meat that I didn't finish it. I also really like that there was bean sprouts in it too. My hubby got the udon noodles with spicy pork on a hot plate. He said it was pretty good. The banchan here was just okay. I've had much better & fresher ones. The one big downside is their prices. My gamjatang costs $17.95 & my hubby's was I think $22.95. We've never paid so much for Korean food before!

Came here for dinner with a few friends, we got the seafood pancake and army stew to share. I liked the seafood pancake however it was a bit on the oily side. The army stew was okay, on the salty side and didn't have much flavours outside of that.

Soft Tofu Stew and Mackerel with Side Dishes

The food here was very mediocre, at least based on what I tried. I got the soft tofu stew which tasted pretty bland to me and mackerel which was a bit too oily for my liking.

Tofu stew

I just ordered this from ubereat, and OMFG, my orders supposed to come with rice, I ordered 3 things, only came with ONE rice??!! and the two Dwen Jang Jjigae I got, am I ordering soup??!! looks like someone else left over, 4 pieces of tofu with chop up onions, WTF. this restaurant is being freaking cheap and just don't order from here, it's a scam. Horrible

Kamja-tang

On a cold winter day, I went with some friends to Ka Chi, a cute Korean near the heart of downtown Toronto. I ordered their Kamja-tang. ⁣ ---⁣ Imagine having a warm, hearty and flavourful soup on a cold day. Apart from pork, it had potatoes, green onions and some sesame seeds. It came with a bowl of purple rice and a variety of side dishes. The staff was also really friendly. I love practicing speaking Korean with others and the staff that attended to us spoke it to me from time to time! I recommend checking them out if you get the chance. ⁣Great food and friendly staff. Number 53 (beef bulgogi udon)

Tried this restaurant for the first time, will be coming back here! The atmosphere is really nice and very spacious. Ordered dish number 53 (beef bulgogi udon) and it was delicious. Service was fast, polite, efficient, but best of all was definitely the food. Highly recommend trying this place for any cravings of Korean food.

Side Dishes

We came to this causal Korean restaurant by AGO Chinatown area for dinner cuz we were craving for Korean food. They have a pretty big menu with hot soups, stir fry, rice, and some Lorena traditional appetizers dishes too. It has another location close to the Kensington area You can customize the level of spiciness for the soft tofu soup. Served with side kimchi dishes and a small bowl of rice on the side. Mine tasted pretty spicy so the flavour kind of disappeared a bit because of the spice. But I really liked that that had an option of + Dumplings, because it made the soup even more filling along with the rice and tofu! The Pork Bone Soup was pretty good, but I like the Owl of Minerva one better The spicy stir-fry rice cake surprised us because of the huge plate that it came in. Had a mix of veggies, glass noodles, and rice cakes were pretty soft but still had a nice chew I really liked their twist to the seafood Pancake by adding rice cake on top of it, it had a crispy shell on the outside but soft on the inside still. Spicy Soft Tofu Soup with Dumplings - $8.50 Seafood Pancake with Rice Cake - $6.95 Spicy Stir-fry Rice Cake - $7.95 Pork Bone Stew - $7.95

I was starting to get really hangry and irritated after walking around the city all day. We started with Korean beer and shots of Jinro Is Back Soyu. It was a good idea. Overall the food was quite good. I recommend everyone to check this restaurant out for themselves. The Korean pancake with seafood and vegetables was huge and much crispier than the one I've tried before. My beef tartare bibimbap was perfect. Just thinking about it makes me want to have it right now. The sizzling hot plate with pork and squid also looked very impressive. It must have been delicious as well, because one of my companions ate the whole thing with no problem. The spicy shredded beef brisket stew/soup 'Yukgaejang' was something which i wouldn't survive, but my man finished everything to the last drop. Hence we entered Jin Dai Lae. Good decision (yes, I am patting my back). Entree pricing was $3 to $4 lower than Markham/Richmond Hill. Portion was so big that you would be full, and might have to doggy bag. Most importantly, food tasted good. Short ribs stew had many pieces of beef. Squids hot plate was saucy. It wasn't too spicy, so it was good for me (menu didn't have a chilli sign either). For people who like it hot, you can ask for some chilli sauce.
