The deviled eggs had a wonderful smoky flavor from the smoked salmon, if you enjoy deviled eggs you will definitely enjoy this. I also loved the flavor of the broth from the mussels and I do recommend getting the bread basket to soak up the additional broth. I enjoyed the lamb belly with the zucchini, however the squash blossom stuffed with ricotta wasn't my favorite. If you don't typically order dessert I would absolutely recommend trying the cheesecake. It is hands down the best I have ever had! Cheesecake funk is where they get it from and I need to figure out a way to buy it directly from them because it is amazing. Overall, I highly recommend you enjoy the patio at W.A Frost.

Doors to the inside part or the restaurant were open, I can only imagine what is happening in the background. Everyone on the patio was commenting about this. I looked in the landscape and couldn't locate bait stations. I'm sure there are some but clearly they are not effective. The mice at the end of our meal was so disappointing as we enjoyed our meal (burger, tomahawk pork chop and NY steak). Cleanliness and pest control cannot be overlooked, especially at a $190 bill for 2. Please please please do something to remedy this issue

I can only envy the locals for having access to the 1881 unlike this 'soon to be home New Yorker'. I had the Wedge Salad, which was covered generously in fresh tomatoes, all the bacon and blue cheese crumbles one could wish; and the add-on grilled chicken breast was truly unbelievably good!! All large lunch salads I've ever had could only wish they were so good. Impeccable table service, but there's also a large bar and plenty to look at in the beautifully restored Station Head house. Going to the train station for dinner if you're not traveling seems like an odd choice, but I truly encourage you to make it. I needed greens after two days of Amtrak food, but everything read well on the menu. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with whatever you choose.

We both grew up in NYC's suburbs/ worked in manhattan until 2000 and then moved to VA MN FL and back to MN. The well discussed homeless situation we find in outstanding meticulous control by the very attentive St Paul Police who know the community on a first name basis. (Weekends you don't see them, and during the week only spotted. They never approach us.). I have worked with the impoverished communities in Harlem, Boston, Richmond, Va and Mn as a volunteer and a few full time positions in Boston. Catholic charities has done a REMARKABLE job supporting/effectively aiding the entire homeless community in the Twin Cities! As a result, we are very comfortable walking anywhere during the day and early evening. So with great joy we joined hundreds of others on St Paul's famous " Train Days" with family and grandson. Then we went to 1881 for a light lunch for the first time. They were happily packed, and all the diners were voraciously downing their meals for a considerable time. I saw a beautiful " fish and chips platter" and will definitely come back to try it for dinner. The setting, ambiance are stellar! The main majestic thrilling lobby of this venerable giant ELEGANT old train station-- more beautiful than NYC and Boston's but similar to those in the Canadian Rockies ( took the Canadian Pacific northern route in 1970 w 70 lb backpack fr Vancouver to Detroit... unforgettable). This majestic rare location....makes the dining experience unique and wonderous! We both had excellent martinis expertly prepared and their famous French onion soup and salads. Our family ate croissant sandwiches and a wonderful egg dish. Beautiful exhilarating awe inspiring places like this have almost completely disappeared all across the USA. Old world cooking and meticulous good delicious seasoning is also FAST disappearing. Places like this desperately NEED us to survive. HIGHLY recommend!!! Enjoy!

There were still some empty seats around, so perhaps the earlier the better. The Tiramisu Cold Press was pretty good. I didn't think it was anything special though since it didn't seem to give the "wow" factor that would make me want to come back just to have it. Biscuits and Gravy were okay too. The gravy was delicious, but same sentiment as the Tiramisu Cold Press in which I didn't feel like it was anything too special. It is still good, and a beautiful brunch spot to catch up with friends Service was alright. Our server was nice! Though we were a bit confused since we had like 2-3 people asking to take our order? And towards the end I had asked for a to-go box and wasn't brought one, until another server asked if we wanted the check and I had to ask again for a to-go box. Nothing crazy though, I can overlook it since the service we received wasn't bad at all. Overall, food was good, interior was beautiful, and service was okay. It is a solid brunch spot!

Last night we skiped the front bar and headed back to the Williamsburg room- it's awesome! Andrew was behind the bar entertaining everyone with great cocktails and menu recommendation's. We were warmly greeted by the host who sat us right away in a sunny spot. Our server was wonderful. I ordered a drink that ended up not being up to par, and he kindly offered to switch it to something else with grace and class, without making me feel badly for asking this. This goes to show the caliber of this long standing institution. Customers are treated well and are respected here. Our snacks from the menu were delicious and perfectly sized. The shrimp cocktail was made well. The lamb meatballs were flavorful and hearty. My Hemingway Daquiri was refreshing without being too liquor forward. Love all the Luxardo drinks on the menu! We will definitely be back!
