There's surprisingly a great amount of Korean options in Bakersfield! I really like K Pocha. I ordered takeout but when I arrived, there were a good number of people eating inside. I ordered some soondubu and the potato pancakes. It was my first time having potato pancakes, since I normally get seafood pancakes. It was interesting, because they're kind of like latkes. Definitely one of the best Korean restaurants around. They give proper portion and numbers of side dishes and most of their main entrees are pretty good. My favorites are their seafood pancake, mung bean pancake and Korean chicken wings - which goes perfectly with mak-ghol-li(unfiltered rice wine). This is a small unassuming and casual restaurant. Quiet music plays in the background. Charles, my server, was so very polite and attentive. I ordered the main dish #6 Spicy Chicken, it's marinated with sliced vegetables, rice included. I ordered mine lightly spicy and wish I had been a bit bolder with the spice. The chicken had a delightful flavor, it was moist, tender & perfectly cooked. My meal started with small servings of Kimchi, steamed umami broccoli, Kewpie mayo potato salad & marinated zucchini, delish! They have a menu with many tasty options. I absolutely love Korean food and K Pocha is my favorite place in Bako to get it! I came on a weekend around 8pm for a late dinner. There were a couple other tables when we arrived, so we were immediately seated. The inside was very clean and comforting. We ordered the bossam and a fried rice dish to share. I recommend this place for anyone who loves authentic Korean food. The portion sizes are a descent size. We were a party of 5 and we shared 4 entrees and a tteokbokkk appetizer. The tteokbokki was cooked perfectly but i wish it had a creamier sauce! The short rib was very flavorful and not over cooked. The restaurant is pretty small and they get busy. Unfortunately our waiter didn't check on us much. Their banchan was delicious and i wish we were able to get a few refills on our tables favorite ones. A nice small korean restaurant with plenty of options, We came for the first time on friday night and just after seating, the place really kicked up. there was a nice atmosphere with music and good conversation. Service was a tad slow getting our drinks and order but the food made up for it. The tteokbokki was really good and the rice cakes were soft and bouncy and not too spicy, i do wish there was a rose tteokbokki option. The marinated boneless short rib had lots of flavor and retained the juices really well! my favorite was the beef brisket soft tofu soup, which was absolutely delicious, it had a generous helping of thin beef brisket, loads of soft tofu and a nice egg yolk in the center and green onions, overall the dish was flavorful, hot and filled me right up. They serve banchan while waiting for your food. Everything is so flavorful and I always loved the variety, giving your palate different flavor profiles, getting you ready for your meal. I haven't had the seafood pancake, must use the sauce to have a little bit more taste, like sticky it's ok. I'm just not used to that kind of pancake.. I love the banchan/side dishes, kimchi, spicy pickled cucumber, etc. The white "noodles" with a mayo taste are Kelp Noodle Salad (Cheonsachae), and the thin, non-spicy strips are likely seasoned fish cake strips. Other restaurants doesn't serve that. The service, they're nice and friendly. The helper didn't get our order for drinks correct, but I think the owner corrected it. This was our second time at K Pocha and it did not disappoint! We ordered 3 dishes for our table (3 adults and 1 infant) and it was more than enough food, we even had leftovers. We ordered the shrimp pancake, bibimbap, and the marinated sliced beef ribeye (served with rice and multiple sides), beer, and makgeolli (sparkling rice wine, served in a cute teapot to share). Everything was fresh, tasty, and filling. Our waiter was so kind and accommodating- he quickly brought us a high chair, a water cup with a lid, and even plastic utensils for our baby. It was loaded with tender brisket, squash, and carrots, and felt like it was made with care. The Bossam pork belly was equally good tender, rich, and paired perfectly with the fresh, crisp cabbage and pickled raddish.
