Cuban spot with a lively atmosphere and pretty solid drinks. The best drink we got was the Carajillo, which was delicious.

Make a reservation. Period. We were greeted immediately, seated promptly, and I launched into my very thorough list of gluten-free questions. Reyder (?) assured me--clearly and confidently--that they take celiac very seriously, which immediately put me at ease. From there? Perfection. We ate so much and enjoyed every single bite. The menu offers an impressive number of celiac-safe appetizers and mains, and the flavors were bold, rich, and absolutely delicious. Nothing felt like an afterthought. The sweet plantains were the grand finale--and worth every bite. Huge portions. Incredible flavor. Reasonably priced. And most importantly: celiac safe. This is how it should be done.

Every time I visit this Cuban restaurant I always leave wanting to come back. Amazing food , flavor , service. I had a special lady drink (I think that was the name) salmón arroz congris and yuca with mojo. I forgot to take a photo of my appetizer. Feels like family every time . 10/10 recommend for authentic Cuban food.

Hubby and I came here for lunch. I had the empanadas two were chicken and one was beef. Crunchy outside and good amount inside. Hubby got the Cubano sandwich which came with a drink of our choice, allowing me to decide. Chose pineapple. He also got a side which was black beans. Mario sat us quickly and attended to our needs. One stall women's restroom which was very clean. Street parking was available but limited. We both love this place.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a Cuban restaurant in Williamsburg, Va. Cuban food is my favorite! I took two friends here for dinner recently. We all loved the variety of menu items and the flavors. Everything was delicious + the service was great. We ordered the K'bola Appetizer Combo, Pechuga a La Plancha, Arroz Frita K'Bola and Picadillo a la Cubana. Everything was so good. I rated this restaurant at four because of one thing- GNATS! Yes-bugs that were indoors, but belong outdoors. We had to swat away gnats during our entire meal. One of my friends killed five. She was our big zapper. I did ask the manager about the situation, which she was aware of, and told her about my friend's quickness with the gnat killing. It was quite the conversation. I'd go back here but I need to be sure the gnats are gone first.

I like the decor of this place lots of stone work on the walls. They also advertise to be 100% Cuban cuisine which I believe 100%.! the food is very delicious. Had this Cuban style pork with their sweet plantains and red bean with pork and a little bit of yucca in it.. remember to get the Yucca fries which are fantastic. But before I go further, I must say me and my husband tried their authentic Cuban sandwich, which is fabulous, but you have to have it with their three sauces. The wonderful part about the sandwiches that it's not mash down flat as a grilled cheese sandwich. It is light, airy, and crispy with plenty of meat and the right slice of Swiss cheese in between.. it wasn't busy for a Monday night, but the service was spot on! We will be back to try some more authentic Cuban food here. Enjoy your new experience.

My grandmother was cuban, growing up with Cuban culture it's hard to find authentic Cuban food anywhere in Virginia. This is the place, family owned, great food, and great vibes. Promise it's worth the visit. Wait staff is also almost all family and authentically Cuban!

I was in town for conference, was surprised to find a Cuban place. I stopped by to order dinner to go. I sat at the bar & got a mojito while I waited. I got arroz moro, picadillo, tostones, and some paselitos. I was surprised that my order was ready in less than 10-15 minutes. Everything was delicious! And the paselitos were the perfect size for my breakfast coffee. I'll have to visit Williamsburg more often!

So let me start out by saying my Wifes family is Canadian and has been to Cuba several times on vacation and where very impressed! I of course had to have the Cubano sandwich which was perfect. Wifey had to shrimp and the cocktails were amazing! We come to to Williamsburg alot and this maybe our new permanent stop for dinner after a W&M game!

Are reservations required?

No, reservations aren't required. It's not a big place, so if you want to ensure to have a table, it's highly recommended.

Do any sides come with entrees?

Yes - I had the option to choose from their sides.

Our service was friendly and helpful in helping me chose a drink to try. The drinks were delicious, a tad on the pricey side but these are our times. We weren't sure where the restaurant was located within the building so we stopped to ask where the Terrace a room was at a hostess stand where three women were working. They all stared at us like we had dropped from the sky and then one woman gestured down the hall. Except it wasn't down the hall. We were in fact at the Terrace Room hostess stand. Sort of an odd beginning. We were seated at a two top with one chair and a couch with huge pillows scattered all over that left no room to actually sit. Had to toss them to the center of the couch to squeeze in. The menus are giant in size so it's hard to lay them down on the small table. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We started off with a bourbon cocktail that included some candied ginger and was very refreshing. The server gave us each a small cube of bread and some butter. It was sort of comical how miserly they were with the bread. The menu offerings were sort of odd but we were able to watch what other tables ordered to make our selections. The entree prices are pretty hefty. We each got a Caesar Salad to start that was good. We both settled on the brisket sandwich (a July Fourth special) and one of us got the fries and the other a side of summer veggies that was squash & zucchini. The sandwich was okay but nothing grand for $21 and the veggie side caused us to both explode with laughter at how meager it was. C'mon folks, squash is dirt cheap so load it up. Absolutely ridiculous. Their wine selections were not super familiar to us and pricey but they give you an ample pour. The Inn itself is very beautiful and the night stars shimmering on the reflecting pool out front is very romantic. I'd recommend a drink at the bar and skipping the $200 dinner for two.

Black-eyed peas and rice were decent but fully believe they are canned beans just based on the rest of the food. The server said it was Carolina gold rice but it's not based on the texture. It's Sysco parboiled rice. Crab cakes were 80% filling and were bone dry. BBQ chicken sandwich was dry and the bread was stale. Onion pot pie was good and the veggies on the side were good. Husband enjoyed the pecan pie but they put honey on the plate and said the whipped cream was fresh. Okay. Don't believe you but okay. I am fine to eat here to support Colonial Williamsburg but if you come here, make sure you level set your expectations.

I rarely leave negative reviews, especially for locally owned businesses, but my experience at…read moreCook's on October 25 was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to share it. What makes it even more frustrating is that I reached out to the restaurant directly the following day, hoping to give management an opportunity to address the situation before posting a public review. Four days later, I have received no response. Unfortunately, that silence has only reinforced the impression that customer satisfaction is not a priority. My wife and I were enjoying an evening in Williamsburg with another couple. I recommended Cook's because I had previously enjoyed both the food and atmosphere. Unfortunately, while the food was once again very good, the service was among the worst I have experienced in quite some time. After being seated and provided water, we waited approximately 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging our table. During that time, the booth beside us was cleared, cleaned, and seated with new customers whose orders were taken while we continued to wait. I attempted twice to get the attention of passing employees before finally having to raise my voice just to ask someone to send our server over. When our server finally arrived, there was no apology, no acknowledgment of the delay, and very little courtesy. She took our orders with an indifferent attitude that made us feel more like an inconvenience than welcomed guests. Unfortunately, the service never improved. Our drinks took another 15-20 minutes to arrive, and once our food was delivered, our server never returned to check on us. No drink refills, no inquiry about our meals, and no attention whatsoever. We eventually had to request our checks, which were incorrect despite having specifically asked that they be separated by couple. The irony is that the food was excellent. Every person at our table enjoyed their meal. But good food alone cannot compensate for service that makes customers feel completely unimportant. Three of the four people at our table have worked in the restaurant industry. We understand that restaurants get busy, mistakes happen, and employees have difficult days. We weren't expecting perfection. A simple apology, a little courtesy, or even the slightest effort to make things right would have completely changed our experience. Instead, four customers left with little desire to return. I was particularly disappointed because I had recommended Cook's to our friends. As we left, my wife said, "I never have to come here again." Our friends expressed essentially the same sentiment. Rather than immediately posting a negative review, I took the time to send a detailed, respectful email to the restaurant on October 26. I explained our experience, complimented the food, and made clear that I wasn't seeking anything complimentary or special. I simply wanted management to be aware of what happened and hoped to hear their perspective. No response. Not even a brief acknowledgment. That may be the most disappointing part of this entire experience. Poor service on one evening can be an isolated incident. Ignoring a customer who takes the time to provide thoughtful feedback creates an entirely different impression. I live in Williamsburg and genuinely enjoy supporting local restaurants. Dining out is expensive, and when customers choose to spend their hard-earned money at an establishment, they should reasonably expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Cook's clearly knows how to prepare good food. Unfortunately, based on our experience and the lack of response afterward, I am left questioning whether they place the same importance on taking care of their customers. Good food brings people through the door. Good service brings them back. Unfortunately, Cook's gave four satisfied diners very little reason to return.
