It's 15 minutes…read moreuntil Tokyo Sushi is stated to close and the four of us are craving some good Japanese food (a day filled with airplane food, fast food, and driving does NOT serve the appetite well). We saw the ratings for Tokyo Sushi and decided to give it a try. Went into restaurant and notice many tables are empty. There are still two large parties eating sushi though, so I was optimistic. I signal a table for four to the lady at the back. Almost immediately she gives me a weird look and uses aggressive hand gestures to shoo me away. She tells us they are closed. A little aggravated by my hunger and her poor manners, I ask the lady if they are doing take-out still. I inform her politely of how hungry we were and how much we would appreciate it if we could just get some fast take-out, as we see other families are still finishing their meals. She doesn't even acknowledge me! In fact, she is angry at this point that I haven't left. Her gestures becoming even more aggressive as she quickly shoos me away from the restaurant. I was really looking forward to this place and trying some top quality sushi. Instead, I was greeted with rudeness and an empty stomach. Went back to the hotel and ate instant oatmeal. It was a sad day for my inner foodie.

My main issue is how brutally slow the meal is. If you come here be prepared to spend 3-4 hours waiting for all your food. We were served approximately 1 or 2 rolls every 30 minutes. We have now been here close to 3 hours and are still hungry. Not exactly my idea of a good time after a day of skiing.

Brussels sprouts were quite sweet and salty, chicken was perfectly cooked, pappardelle was al dente and had lots of meat which was nice! The gyoza that came with the chicken were meh but the sauce served with it was delicious. Service was very attentive and friendly, ambiance is peaceful. Plates are made for sharing and 3 plates was plenty for 2 of us. Bathroom was very clean, place looks newly renovated. Made a reservation for 5:30 and it was quiet when we got there, busy when we left an hour later.

A small, authentically decorated place, nicely set out tables, close together but typical of true Japanese dining. The front is modestly decorated, you can literally walk right past it, which I did. Service is prompt and professional, with a broad menu of sushi, tempura, teriyaki and noodle dishes. Also lots of combo options as well. Food is really good, seems fresh even though we're along way from the ocean. Our table had a wide range of offerings, everyone was happy with their selection. There is so much choice, and service was so prompt, that I found the ordering process a bit rushed. Next time I'll spend more time with the menu. I'll definitely return next time in Edson.

The ambiance was nicer than expected given the name, it was comfortable and modern but lacked any charm. The drinks were a highlight, we all enjoyed our cocktails and mocktails. The server was also very attentive and communicative. The only item we really enjoyed was the goat cheese poutine. That was delicious. The entrees were boring. Two of my party got the blackened salmon special with rice, vegetables and curry aioli. They expected a flavorful experience but got white rice, steamed vegetables and barely seasoned salmon with a small side of flavored mayo. It was cooked well but just not very tasty. I got one of the staff favorites, the bison meatloaf, which was also pretty bland. The meals were served like a convention center banquet meal instead of saucy, flavorful and fun.
