Just got my dog back this morning from his first grooming w/ Jackie. FANTASTIC! When I adopted him from the Pasadena Humane Society about a year ago they sent him out to another groomer (for which I had to pay) and it was a butchered job. He has a coat like a Sheep Dog and they made him look like a Schnauzer. So this time I went and interviewed 3 different places. At one of them the groomer never even made eye contact w/ my dog let alone asked his name or tried to engage him. To be blunt, she was just kind of bitchy and disinterested. The 2nd one was a kid who admitted that he'd just replaced the old groomer so the good reviews on Yelp weren't his. The 3rd was K-9 Klipping and the second I walked in I knew Jackie was the real deal. She ran over to greet my dog and got down on the floor with him. When I complimented her on the two poodles who I saw leaving she spoke about them with the love and admiration you'd think only their owner could have. I was very specific w/ Jackie that while I wanted my dog to be as cool as possible (that was the only reason I wanted him cut; he's the most adorable dog w/ his long, shaggy coat) I didn't want him looking like a Schnauzer again. But I wanted him to still have CHARACTER and not simply be shaved to the skin all over the way the other 2 groomers told me they would cut him. So, like most people, I gave Jackie completely conflicting demands -- and she pulled it off! If I can find the time I'll post before and after shots so you can see how she accomplished everything I wanted without taking away all his visual character. And my dog loved her. He's very laid back, accommodating and sweet but who knows how he would have reacted to someone that didn't care about his psychological well-being? But Jackie does. In spades. When you go, just know not to pull up the driveway. K-9 is located in the middle of a plant nursery and while the sign down on Altadena has an arrow like you should pull into the drive -- don't. It's a dead end. Just park on the street. read more

Wonderful service here. The whole team seems incredibly kind and caring and gentle and thoughtful. My mini Aussie has never looked better! I've found a groomer for life! read more

After taking our dog to Steve's Pets for a failed grooming session, we desperately wandered over to K-9 to see what they could do. Amazing people and amazing customer service. They basically took our dog on the spot to quickly clip his ears and nails. Our dog is very fearful and nips when scared. Jan showed him who was boss though. She really knows each breed of dog, and she loves all dogs (even the difficult ones). I was very impressed. She only charged us ten dollars, but my mom gave her 50. She's that good. We will be back. read more

I'm very grateful my next door neighbor told me about Jackie and K-9 Klipping! I have an older cat who doesn't tolerate much grooming and can be a wee bit feisty. In fact, she's been asked not to come back to several other groomers. I brought Annie into to Jackie to see how far she could get with her today. Imagine my surprise when Jackie told me she was able to finish Annie completely! Annie was not stressed out like she usually is after being groomed! A win/win!!! Thank you!!! read more

I have used K9 Klipping for 15 years. Jackie is the BEST....not only an excellent groomer but she truly loves the dogs (and cats). She knows each by name; remembers their foibles and goes way above and beyond...an example...my little rescue has an ear infection and when I brought Tex in for grooming I told Jackie how I struggle to get the ointment deep into his ear as instructed by vet. Jackie offered to show me how but after watching me struggle then suggested I bring him in each morning (I live close) and she will help me do it (meaning do it herself). This is not something she charged for but has to do with her love of my dog and wanting him to heal. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Jackie you are one of a kind!... and your nephew/assistant is also a dog whisperer! read more

Jackie's the only person I trust to groom my 2 German Shepherds. My friend Michelle who also owns a German Shepherd, referred me to Jackie after I'd had trouble finding a reliable, gentile and patient groomer. We've been going to her for about 3 years now. She handles my dogs very well, is gentle and affectionate, patient and professional. She offers a thorough service at reasonable rates, and is very passionate about her work. One of my dogs doesn't like the dryer, and she never forces him to endure it. She works extra hard at not only cleaning and nail trimming, but also getting rid of their thick shedding fur. My dogs are very active on the trails, etc., it's important for to me that they have a sound, consistent groomer to hep control fleas, ticks and dirt in the hardest of places to reach - ears, nails, deep into fur, etc.. She gets 5 Paws up from us! read more

Important message to ALL K-9 Klipping families. My Cooper had a visit with Jackie yesterday. I was so happy hear that she will be at the Altadena Dr location for another year and a half to two years while the new owners of the land sort through the building process. PLEASE continue to support K-9 Klipping and Jackie during this transition at the Altadena Dr location. read more

i LOVE this place and Jackie! I am very high maintenance when it comes to my dog's happiness and I am extremely pleased with the way my pooch was cared for at this establishment. Isn't it weird that at many grooming places, it seems like the employees may or may not love dogs and like that isn't their main concern? Well that is NOT the case here. I chatted with Jackie, the owner, for a few minutes when I dropped my little guy off and felt instantly bonded to her. We clearly share a passion for dogs and I felt 100% calm and comfortable leaving my baby with her. A couple hours later I received the call that he was all ready, and boy was he! His cutest hair cut to date, and most importantly, he was HAPPY! He displayed no signs of being man handled and was not at all depressed as he sometimes is after a grooming experience. I will absolutely return to see Jackie and happily refer any dog-owners to do the same. SHE IS THE BEST! One tidbit to keep in mind: this is a cash/check only situation. Make sure you take out extra money when you hit the ATM because you are gonna wanna leave a big tip, i promise! read more

Whereas some fancy people might see a shack, I was relieved to see a lovely cottage located at the far end of a beautiful garden. Jackie warmly greeted me and my rescue dog, Jackie (i know i know... Jackie meets Jackie, right?) Jackie the groomer assured me things would go fine and that's when things went north. She assured dog-Jackie and asked me to hold him as she clipped his too-long nails. She coo'ed him all the way and massaged him as she clipped his nails. I could tell he, my boy, against all odds, was falling for her (oh .. and by the way, she for him). My Jackie, the dog, had been severely abused as a baby/puppy so to see him then. as an old fellow, so trusting, so willing, well.. need i say more... In short, I dont believe the perspective of the one negative reviewer ,, a 'shack' (really?) .. a dog so, so brutalized,so traumatized while it's 'guardian' stood by? Ah okay... except I took the liberty of looking at the 'San Marino' lady's other reviews and yeah... enough said. What I know is Jackie loved her and I appreciated her gentle, loving touch and no one can put that on. THANK YOU, JACKIE !!! read more

As many dog lover's know, after 30= years k9 klipping will be moving to a new location. Pass the word. Jackie is not leaving her family of dogs and cats, and two legged humans. New location to be coming soon. I would never think of leaving K9klipping, because Jackie is by for the best friend for furry friends. She has handled many of my westies, and now a reAL CHALLENGE A RESCUE WESTIE MIX WITH FEAR AGRESSION. She knows how to read her body language, and although slow to trust, Jackie just keeps going. Her caring for all is by far open and honest. Prices very fair, and she accomodates to the animals needs. PASS the WORD K9Klipping is in business just moving. Pat 20 year client read more

Jackie is a wonderful groomer. Nothing fancy here - the shop is very bare bones - but Jackie knows what she's doing and our shihtzu, Mush, will be coming back. It's a relief to know exactly who is grooming our dog as opposed to leaving her at a grooming shop. read more

we love jackie and her crew!! puff and doodle are always perfect and happy when they come home. jackie loves all her clients and she's a warm a loving being!! we will never go elsewhere!!! I'm so sad to say that we had a terrible experience when we went back last time! She cut Puffs neck badly, never told me and two days later it was horribly infected and oozing!! He ran a high fever and had to be rushed to the animal hospital, where I had to get a spray, two rx's and he was given a shot right there and then. She paid the bill and paid me back for the grooming after I asked for it back, but how do you not see you've cut a huge area out of a dogs neck??? We can not go back now as I no longer trust her with my babies. read more

The best dog grooming spot I have ever found. My dog doesn't hesitate to go in when it's time for his bath. The are so welcoming and kind to the animals, my boy is always ok with his "spa" day. read more

I highly recommend K9 Klipping. My dog has anxiety so I've always bathed him myself. I don't have the energy to do it anymore so after reading reviews of various groomers decided to give K9 Klipping a try. Jackie was very attentive to my concern about the anxiety and she was great with my dog. He seemed fine with her and the whole experience. He also looked GREAT! I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

Jackie is such a sweetheart. I've been searching for a groomer since I moved to Altadena. After reading glowing reviews, I decided to give yet another pet grooming shop a chance. So glad I did. Muffin looks fantastic. I finally found a great groomer to take my dog to! And she grooms cats too! She even recommended a vet in the area. Wowza! Thanks for the stellar service and customer service Jackie! read more

First time taking our Dog to a professional groomer. She was gentle and obviously caring and understanding of the dog's trepidations of being cleaned by a stranger. She made very professional recommendations and provided expert feedback on the grooming conditions of our dog. She could have easily tried to charge us for unneeded services, but kept to the basics. We will return! read more

We just had our senior pup's mani-pedi done by Jackie at K-9 Klipping and we couldn't be happier! I called Jackie and she said to bring in our pup between 8am-12pm. We came in at 10:30am the next day and we were in-n-out in less than 10 minutes. I was impressed by Jackie's sweet demeanor and how she made our dog feel comfortable enough to let her clip and file her nails in a jiffy. Best of all, I could see our dog during her mani-pedi and appreciated how Jackie treated our beloved dog. If you are looking for a reasonably priced groomer who is gentle, loving, and caring, I would recommend you come to K-9 Klipping and see Jackie. The location is easy to miss as it is located at the end of the nursery, but I can assure you it is there. Ample parking located right off of Altadena Drive. Just walk into the nursery towards the back. Happy to have found a new place for our dogs. read more

Wonderful experience with lovely Jackie. She fully assessed my standard poodle with me present; her service was very consultative. Have you tried this? Are you interested in THIS or THAT. I like her style and we picked him up very conservatively groomed and soft and plushy. I came home and told the family what a nice new groomer our dog has! We will be repeat customers. I love entering through the bubbling fountains and tranquility of the nursery, and as she's a solo practitioner, there's only ever 1-3 dogs there at a time ... whoever knew a dog groomer's place could actually feel mellow. Thank you Jackie. read more

Just picked up the pups and they look great! One of our dogs is a little anxious and Jackie takes the time and effort to help her feel comfortable, which I really appreciate. Both of the dogs look so good after their visits (and we are not good about brushing them regularly, so they usually need some extra care!) Highly recommend. read more

I was referred to Jackie about 8 months ago, and I was somewhat skeptical because my friend raved about her ability, and the prices were so reasonable. She was attentive and caring and did a great job on my two unruly (at times) doggies. But, the topping was recently we went there and Jackie saved us a ton on doctor bills by "keeping it simple", we were having a problem with our littlest dog, and she gave us not only a great vet's name, but suggested a simple solution to our dogs problem. With a little extra effort on her behalf (which is common from Jackie), our pooches are doing so much better with out all the out of pocket expense! Thanks Jackie for caring and taking the extra time! read more
