    4 types of lettuce!
    Claire B.

I researched the best restaurants in Wailea before our trip, and dining at Ko turned out to be one of the most special and memorable experiences of our stay. We were seated at an exceptional table overlooking the adults-only pool. As evening fell and the tiki torches were lit, the view over the water was quietly magical. Our server, Connie, was genuinely warm and welcoming. She surprised us with a Happy Anniversary card featuring a painting of the hotel, signed by 30 Ko staff members. Each signature was done with care and personality--one even whimsically shaped like a cat. I loved it so much that I have the card hanging in my home. Connie explained the menu clearly and thoughtfully, including several items we hadn't encountered before. We started with the venison lumpia, an elevated take on a spring roll, and shared the wagyu lettuce wraps. Sharing was the right choice--the dish came with four types of lettuce, yuzu leaves, fern greens, a rectangular pan of rice, and more than enough beautifully prepared wagyu for two. Earlier in the week, a guest I met at a lei-making class mentioned she had ordered the wagyu steak at Ko twice. I understand why. For dessert, the strawberry--shaped like an actual strawberry--was both beautiful and inventive, light rather than heavy, and a perfect ending. Peni, the manager, also stopped by our table to say hello, which added another thoughtful touch to the evening. Thank you to everyone at Ko who made this dinner so memorable. It remains one of my happiest travel memories and truly lives in my heart.

I was so happy to be back to Ko Restaurant after its renovations and newly anticipated menu under Chef Dela Cruz. I always came to Ko with my former employer and my family over the years for Happy Hour and Dinner under the late Chef Pang and we've always enjoyed his delicious Plantation inspired cuisine. Chef Dela Cruz definitely honored his legacy and yet added his personal touch. Being of Filipino descent and also a daughter and great granddaughter of immigrant workers, I really respect the Restaurant concept of honoring the beautiful and rich cultures that blended together during the Sugar Cane era here in Hawaii! Since my mom and I were a bit under the weather, we both got the Zero Proof Calamansi (Filipino lime) Cooler which had a splash of honey for the throat. Very refreshing! It had a dried calamansi and little flower garnish. For pupus (appetizers), we tried the Maui Nui Venison Longanisa Lumpia (Filipino Spring rolls) which was crispy and delicious. Waiter recommended wrapping the lumpia in the fresh lettuce provided and I topped it off with the Pickled Atchara for that acidity and the dipping sauce of the Toyomansi Mint Sauce paired perfectly. The Makeke Salad was light and refreshing with the light frothy Buttermilk Dressing in the middle. It had fresh baby greens, shavings of carrot, a few tomatoes and this Umami crunch. For the main course, we wanted 1 land and 1 sea. We shared the Korean Braised Short Ribs served in the Plantation Inspired Kau Kau Tin that my dad and Great Grandpa used to eat in. What a cool throwback! Dad said it was aluminum back in the day. The stackable tin had the Ribs, Kimchee Fried Rice and banchan (side dishes) of Otani Carrot, Baby Bok Choy and Kimchee. I'd recommend the Short Ribs, they were so moist and fall apart ono! The Ginger Steamed Opakapaka and Crispy Wok Fried Lobster Tail was amazing and my favorite! It had a Chinese black bean sauce and also a Chili sauce on the side for some heat. There was crunchy green beans for the vegetable side to accompany it. Dessert was Pinoy Honey Toast (of course, were Pinoy lol!) It had Ube and Corn (this was such a cool flavor!) Ice Cream and a drizzle of Lavender Honey and topped off with Pandan Rice crisps! Our family devoured it! Everything was the perfect amount and we left full in the best way possible. It was quite busy so our water wasn't really topped off but expected after the holidays. It was a full house and we arrived at 5:30 pm. Our waiter Ryan and the staff are always friendly! They gave us Pineapple Li Hing Gummies before we left. We will definitely be back!

Ko is a great spot for a moderately upscale family dinner! We really liked the fried chicken with Mac and cheese. Additionally the hostess was very nice to accommodate us with a quieter table. We also like the ahi tuna appetizer and the Seafood Lau Lau was presented beautifully. The only thing that maybe was a skip for me were the mocktails as they didn't feel worth the price. The service was very friendly and the service was nice.

The food was fantastic! Ambiance is amazing! Great restaurant! To start we ordered the lavender honey crispy shrimp, Venison lumpia, and Makeke salad to start. They were all delicious, fresh, and well worth getting. We got the house punch and the daiquiri. The punch was a bit strong for our liking, but the daiquiri might have been the best drink we've ever had. We kept ordering them! For entrées we ordered the Seafood Laulau, braised short ribs, and the crispy kona kanpachi. The seafood was fresh, hummus and the kanpachi was a wonderful bite together. The short ribs were super tender and rich. We loved every bit of it. Our waiter Misty was attentive and helpful. She recommended the honey toast and the malasadas for dessert and she was right! They were so good. A huge thank you to Silvia! So friendly and helpful. She really made a difference in our evening. Appreciate the excellent service! The location of the restaurant is great. Open air, sea breeze, and beautiful plants all around.

From the moment we arrived at Kō, we felt the true spirit of aloha. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and filled with the kind of hospitality that reminds you why dining in Wailea is so special. But what truly elevated our evening was the kuleana and heart shown by the entire team. Peni, the Assistant GM, embodied poʻokela (excellence) in every way -- greeting us with genuine warmth and making us feel like part of the ʻohana from the start. Serena provided malama pono-level service, caring for us with attention and thoughtfulness. James was friendly, engaging, and always present at the right moments, bringing such a comfortable vibe to the table. Roland checked in throughout the evening, ensuring everything was maikaʻi loa (very good) and to our liking. And Chef delivered dishes that were absolutely next level -- rooted in local flavors, beautifully prepared, and crafted with real passion for Hawaiʻi's culinary traditions. From the food to the service, every detail at Kō reflected aloha, intention, and excellence. If you're in Wailea, this is truly a must-dine experience -- a place where you are treated like ʻohana and leave with a full heart. Mahalo nui loa to the entire Kō team -- we will definitely be back!

Very disappointing in the new menu Menu is not the same don't think we'll Be dining here again. Please don't go here Waste of money . You're better off going to a food truck . Flavorless and bland just sad .i wish i could put 0 stars.

Best dining experience I had in a while. Corrine was on it and chef Matt stopped by the table. So good, from drinks, food, and service! Looking forward to coming back again!

This place was great to stop at for happy hour! The drinks were good. The edamame was so yummy- very bare bones served cold with salt and lemon juice but it was addicting. Hurricane fries are always delightful and I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the tuna roll! Very fresh. No super groundbreaking flavors but who can say no to sushi. Would recommend!

It looks delicious. I haven't tasted it yet.

Really a wonderful meal tonight we started off with some sushi, which had Ahi at the center and a tempura outside finish. My parter had Shiso sour and I had the little Koi Lilikoi margarita both were good flavorful, but not overpowering. It's a nice open air restaurant, and we got to see the holiday decorations from our table. My partner had the lobster tempura and I had the mar jon fish mine came with some local mushrooms that were super tasty and I love the texture. Cas our server was attentive and warm. She did a little mini wine tasting for us of what would go best with our fish. She recommended for dessert the ultimate banana bread which is topped with fantastic homemade ice cream and rum sauce. The food runner put a show pouring the rum sauce over the ice cream. It was fun. I liked the ice cream's marshmallow is like flavor marshmallow. The vanilla rum the pecans just made it really creamy texture . This is something I would not miss. It was great pre-holiday dinner out.

Wow!!! Such fantastic views!! Figure out what time sunset will be and get yourself to a table to catch the incredible views! The food was fantastic! We got the lau lau and the Mahi Mahi special. All fantastic but what really took the cake (or the bread) was the dessert. The banana bread is something my partner will still not shut up about and will tell anyone who will listen even now - 3 months after our visit. The service was hit and miss. The manager was phenomenal and checked on us and joked with us. He did a great job of making sure everyone was having a good time. Our server seemed to keep forgetting about us. He was super at attentive to another couple who sat down after us, ordered after us, and got each of their courses before us. It wasn't a kitchen issue, he just kept checking on them more and forgetting about us even though we were just a table over from them. He'd often walk by and forget about our empty plates, empty water glasses and empty cocktail glasses. It didn't feel great to not feel like our business or experience was valued.

We dined here twice during our stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani and had amazing experiences both times. The first time we came for dinner we were served by Z who provided exceptional service. He took his time in explaining the different items on the menu and was very attentive. We got the octopus appetizer to start, which was light and delicious! For entrees I got the mahi mahi in the lemongrass curry which was overall good, the curry was delicious though the mahi mahi was a bit plain. Hubby got the lau lau and enjoyed it. Presentation was beautiful! The second time we came for dinner during a super busy evening but they were able to get us in at the bar (our fault for not making reservations). I didn't get the names of the bartenders but it was a man and a woman and they were both great at checking on us and providing anything we needed. We got the lavender honey shrimp as an appetizer - AMAZING, so crisp and flavorful. I ordered the pancit for my entree which was flavorful, the steak and shrimp were great and the noodles and sauce it came with were delicious! Hubby got the rib eye and said his steak was one of the best steaks he's ever had. We had the banana bread dessert and YUM it was delicious without being overly sweet, the perfect way to end the meal. The food did take a little while to come out but it was super busy. Since we were staying at the Fairmont, our daughter who is under 2 ate here for free. She enjoyed her beef skewer entree (we got this both times)! And they provided coloring pages and crayons which was helpful to help keep her entertained. Overall highly recommend this restaurant for a fancy meal! I enjoyed the food more the second time but overall had positive experiences both times.

The Lavendar Honey Crisp shrimp was so good I couldn't event stand it!!! I didn't even want to drink water because I didn't want the flavor to leave my mouth. In addition to the shrimp, I ordered the lumpia appetizer and made two apps my dinner. I crafted the absolute perfect meal. So flavorful. Such a great restaraunt! Misty was our server and she was a delight. She answered all of our questions.

My BFFs and I loved going to KO located in the Fairmont Kea Lani. The presentation of the appetizers and the main course were excellent. Our server Lucie and the manager plus the other staff were so nice and service is on point. They also gave 25% Kamaiana discount which made us feel more special. This is one of our best place to dine.

The Paniolo Smash Burger has two char-grilled patties of local beef topped with caramelized Maui onions, bacon and a slice of American cheese (we ordered their "burger sauce" on-the-side). The char flavor help define that "extra taste" on the burger -- Fries or Loaded Fries are available for an add-on. The Lobster Toast was served on focaccia lightly toasted bread, which was topped with a decent amount of lobster meat mixed with a milky -almost too much so- shaved fennel and whipped avocado salad. The portion was decent as an appetizer or for a light-eater's meal. The Mediterranean Meatballs was another delicious appetizer-size portion of three savory meatballs consisting of local pork & beef with a few spices. The underlying sauce of lemon yogurt with a hint of mint harissa made the dish sing. Delicious. Aurum Maui is a relatively newish eatery (July 2025) at the Shops of Wailea, and we hope they continue to thrive. As the restaurant got busier, the noise level rose considerably. The decor & layout are quite pleasant, but management should look for way to lower the noise level by adding some softscaping - but we enjoyed our dining experience here.

It was my first visit to Aurum and I like to try a difficult dish the first time I dine somewhere new. I spotted the Simple Root Chicken ($45) and asked the server about it. He said it is cooked sous vide style (to keep it moist) and then broiled to golden brown. He said it a leg and a thigh and very popular, so I tried it. It was a breast, not a leg/thigh, and while it looked great, it was dry and virtually unseasoned. Make sure to listen for the numerous daily specials. My favorite dishes of the night were probably the starters and the desserts. One of the starters was a special - ahi sashimi with shaved hearts of palm, citrus, micro greens, and some sort of spicy oil - so it had elements of salt, sweet, tart, and spicy with softness, crunch, and chew. Even my vegetable, sauce, and garnish hating daughter absolutely loved this dish. The calamari was also a standout - the breading was crispy and had a nice kick to it. We ordered the ahi entree as well, and it was also delicious, as was the cauliflower, which visually wasn't that appealing since it wasn't roasted, but it was absolutely delicious. Dessert options were communicated verbally by our server (they must change frequently). We opted for the ginger molasses cake, which was suffused with ginger flavor and doused in a ginger-infused syrup - like a sticky toffee cake but better. The vanilla bean panna cotta was also delicious - a more delicate dessert - though the strawberries were not the sweetest. Service was great and attentive when we first arrived at 5:30. As the restaurant got busier, it became harder to find our server. We waited for quite a while after we finished our dinner. Fortunately, they had a lot of people attending to the tables and when we asked them for a dessert menu, they were able to track down our server. All in all, a fantastic dinner. We are excited to add this restaurant to our Wailea list and look forward to returning upon our next visit.

You order right when you walk in & take a seat at one of the tables. We ordered the seafood combo with all the seasonings & spicy & the grilled shrimp. Our food came out pretty quick but we did have to ask our server for multiple things even though we were the only table in the restaurant. The fried shrimp wasn't too bad but the seafood boil was the worst boil I've ever had. The crab was as small as my fingers & there was barely any other seafood. The sauce somehow tasted.. burnt? It was so watery & flavorless. I tried to add lemon to it to try to help with the taste, but it was so gross it didn't help. Their sauce needs to be fixed because I couldn't taste any lemon pepper or Cajun, just burnt butter. This place was not good at all & not somewhere I'd return. We wound up just throwing the food away.

This was by far the best meal we had in Maui! We had read some ratings online and tried to find…read morethis place but had a hard time because Google Maps was not very helpful. I called and asked them for directions and they actually guided us. They were also really patient in explaining the menu to us and explaining the different types of fish and what not. Really glad we were patient and actually came here! Such a lovely aesthetic to the whole area and the food. Oh my goodness!!! The burst of flavor in everything was phenomenal! Such unique combinations and everything was so fresh and cooked so well and just mind blowing! Husband and I kept saying how we should have just gone there multiple times for food! Mahi Mahi Bento bowl with Ono instead. (It has Crispy Sushi Rice / Black Garlic / Market Vegetables) I really have no words to see how good this combination was! I was actually a little full going into dinner but ended up actually wiping this whole plate clean! The food was that good! Husband got the Roasted Organic Chicken With Coconut with Coconut Carrot Curry and Roasted Vegetables. Very different vibe from my item but also really delicious. Heat thoroughly enjoyed this one! The chicken was perfectly cooked and the carrot coconut curry combination with the vegetables and the chicken was lovely. He kept some leftovers for the next day because the chicken portion size was quite huge and we enjoyed it even the next day! Seaweed salad was also delicious! Super fresh and tasty!

I'm not sure I've had, or will have, a better meal on Maui. It was named one of the top local spots last year, and that recognition feels completely deserved. Set at the far end of South Maui Gardens, the outdoor seating gives it a relaxed but special ambiance. For our 30th anniversary, my wife and I shared the smoked tomahawk steak family-style, along with black garlic roasted rice, pickled carrots and onions, and a roasted vegetable medley with a beautiful spice mix. Every bite was outstanding -- perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and clearly crafted with intention. We finished with the lilikoi meringue pie, which was just as impressive and a perfect way to end the meal. Maui has some incredible dining experiences, and Kitoko stands comfortably among the very best -- food truck or not. If you're looking for a truly memorable dinner on the island, don't miss this one.
