Waittt this place is so good. Always fresh poke and service with a smile. Very local place, so be respectful and let others order first if you aren't ready. Hot tip, check their social for their specials of the week!

Wow, amazing poke. Buttery smooth fish and great flavored marinade. You cannot go wrong with Kaohu store. Although I am just a visitor in Hawaii and think all poke here is amazing already, my local friends were the ones who recommended this place as one of their go-tos. Service was quick, and the ambiance/setting was just a simple grocery store. This was a nice place for poke just by the fact that it was quick and not many people were here (I'm assuming it's only locals who go here as it is inside a store).

Great poké! Went here on a recommendation from a friend that used to live in Maui. I would not have known to visit and I'm glad I did. Got a pound of the shoyu poke and another pound of a different poke. Delicious!

A very good spot for poke and other fresh seafood. There are only a few parking spots and they have a 5min time limit. There's no seating available so everything is to go. Their fish is very fresh and their flavor combinations are delicious. My favorite was the spicy ninja and I would definitely go back the next time I'm in the area.

Life changing tuna poke, better than any salmon I've had. We got four 1/4 pound cups to try more flavors. Spicy Tuna and Got Em All were our favorites, Shoyu a close third, and the fresh and clean Lipoa fourth. We also got two spam musubis- while it was thick, it wasn't dense and the rice still warm, soft and fluffy and the spam seasoned with a sweet glaze. Service was quick, there's no indoor dining, more order grab and go situation.

I had high expectations for the poke, but I thought it was just okay. Friendly service and the laulau chicken was to die for! The store is a little bare but they carry the stuff that matters. Apparently they have hotdogs too!

Our cousins live on Maui, and this is their favorite place to get poke. My favorite poke is their spicy ahi. They have a sign that apologizes for the high price of the ahi, which is pretty funny. We also got the spicy ninja and the shoyu ginger. All flavors were delicious! They also sell groceries, prepared foods, and drinks. We go here every time we are on Maui and always enjoy it.

Parking is limited with a few spots in front. You could try to park on the street and quickly drop in to grab the food. Upon entering, you'll see a convenience store with many snacks and other assortments you may need for your Maui adventure. The star is definitely the poke. You'll see so many types of fish and flavorings. You can ask for tastings before ordering. Note that this poke is fish and rice - this is different from mainland. You can add rice for a fee. One thing to note, there is a prepared food option which is different every day (I think). I thought the prepared foods were okay - I prefer the poke over the prepared food since it came out quickly and I'm not sure how long it sat out

I love coming here. They have sweet ladies working. The line moved pretty fast today. We wanted hot dogs with everything on it. Plus we got shoyu poke. It was fantastic. Expensive but am worth it. Check out their Instagram for daily specials. It's always a good thing knowing what they're serving that day. So come here if you're looking fresh poke, chips, soda, plate lunches. They have small parking stalls in front of the store but cats move on and out quickly.

Great grocery store poke option near the Waihee Ridge Trail. The 1/2 pound poke option is super filling and the marinade (I got the spicy ninja) was great; only complaint is that the fish chunks were quite large so it was sometimes hard to eat. I got the somen salad to pair with it, which had a deceiving name bc it had no vegetables, but it was still tasty regardless. It was imitation crab strips and rice noodles and came with a sauce. Paired great with the poke! The 1/2 poke and somen salad came out to slightly over $20. Friendly and quick service. They accept card! No seating inside and there's a sign in the parking lot that says no eating there, so we drove to a nearby park in the neighborhood to enjoy our food.

This is a MUST stop!!! The poke & sashimi is absolutely amazing. The icee flavors are awesome too. Quick service & very friendly associates. The locals were right about this being the best. Go early, they will sell out!!!

Love Kaohu store. Tried their braised beef plate lunch yesterday and it was so ono. Also got poke. Everything is always so ono. Support local & check them out!

Recommend by our Turo driver! Definitely a must in Maui. Spicy flying ninja was my favorite. However all the different types of poke was amazing. You cannot eat there, just a mom and pop place with fresh seafood.

Lauya had a bitterness flavor due to the greens they used that was not to my liking but I know that some people do, but it was done well with the meat very soft and bones with marrow still there. Luckily I had an extra set of eyes helping me look lol. I've been following this store on Facebook and what got my need to come here was the fact that they are now selling ube butter mochi!!! Yay!!! The store rep was very pleasant and was quick to offer assistance! This store has so many different Asian products! Not to mention a wide variety of longanisa sausages, fish, meats, etc.... I was able to get what I came here for (ube butter mochi) and a few more items. Sad to say I did have to share with my husband haha... My only complaint is the butter mochi wasn't cut into pieces, it was just a really big slice placed in a plastic container. Hopefully they will be able to fix that, then again maybe it's not meant for sharing!!! Lol My overall experience here was great! So, if you are looking for a one stop Asian store this is it!!! And don't forget to try that ube butter mochi!!!

Ever since then, this is the place I go because it is clean, lots of variety and single mom friendly prices. The have a plethora of fresh fish in large coolers on ice. When I say on ice, I mean on ice. NOT swimming in melted ice, but literally on ice. They have from opelus, mahi mahi, tilapia and more! I've been lucky to come across some fresh Moloka'i prawns here for a reasonable price. They also have a huge inventory of Filipino products from frozen to "fresh". I've gone here for some delicious longanisa, dilis (baby anchovies), vegetables and preserved items. Not to mention the Filipino desserts waiting at the check out counter enticing you to buy some for the drive home. I'm guilty of purchasing cascaron on a stick and wolfing it down as I'm driving out of the parking lot. On my last visit here I also see that they offer Western Union services too! Don't expect too much "friendly" service upon entry. It's really a self service market. But if you do need help finding anything, they'll assist you.
