It was one or two workers running back and forth to fulfill all the orders. One of the auntie's at the restaurant advised us to just take a seat anywhere and that's what we did. The chairs are a bit high, so we weren't seen right away, but once they saw us they got us a menu, water and asked us what we wanted. We chose from the menu: soondubu, kimchi jeon, and kalbi (which we didn't get but I'm sure they were overwhelmed and didn't notice since there was a big party). Just by observing the place and the orders placed by the bigger party, if you look around the restaurant there are other food items that you can order. We didn't know and just stuck to the menu, lol but a note for next time! Again, the seats are very high so we were waiting for our food for quite a while. But once they noticed that we didn't have our food, they apologized and got our food right away! First came the banchans, I really enjoyed them! My favorite was the fishcake and radish kimchi. Kimchi pancake had other vegetables mixed in, not just kimchi. I wasn't expecting the other veggies, but it was good nonetheless. Then the grill and meats came. It is a portable grill and each table has an extension cord to plug the grills in. Once the uncle came to our table, he got us started with the grill and meats and cooked for us a bit! The attentiveness and effort was there and we really appreciated that. We then got our soondubu. It was very warm, refreshing and not too spicy. Our once empty table was now filled with banchans, sauces, meats, and lettuce! Once all our food came, the nice auntie came over and apologized again for the long wait for our food. She had said she would give us the kimchi jeon as a "service" which kinda means "it's on the house" as an apology. We understood the busyness with the restaurant and short staffed workers, but we're grateful for the effort and attention they had once they realized. Overall we enjoyed our experience here at O BBQ! We left full and satisfied, but not over bloated! I know Oahu has all you can eat KBBQ, but all you need is some good food, good meats and good company to enjoy KBBQ on Maui! We are glad we chose to dine in and try this new spot on Maui. We'll be coming back again!

We parked in a space marked Hemi's because that used to be the name of the business. They use portable, electric grills instead of the built-in gas grills usually used in KBBQ restaurants. The electric grills don't smoke as much as the gas grills. Many of the items on their menu are pre-cooked. The only thing we ordered that we cooked on the beef brisket. The meat was tender and tasted yummy with the dipping sauce. The Banchan was limited to kim chee, green salad and eggplant, The food was really good! We especially enjoyed the mandoo. The only downside is that prices are a bit steep. I'm glad Maui has a KBBQ!

Also, I am going to try their poke as I saw clams today. Ambiance - A good/huge size location. A huge deli and bakery section. Huge seafood. Open 7 days a week from 8am to 9pm. Plenty of mall parking. Service - Day 2; Bakery department = 6 stars. We can NOT eat 6 rolls, sold in packages of 6, so she gave us a sample instead!! Cashier = 5 stars, honored the discount for us even though we did not have a loyalty card. The seafood lady friendly got us the perfect quantity of clam poke. Deli = Just okay. The sad part is that this is where we spent the most $$$$ and received the worst service. The lady left in the middle of our order?!?! I had to ask another sales person to finish our order! If it was not for the deli person, this would have been a 5 star review. Price - $40, reasonable. Well, expensive for supermarket food, but reasonable for Hi prices. Walked up to the truck and saw a standard bbq menu. Noticed everything that you add brisket to was an additional $8 per order. Kinda pricey, but Hawai'i. Ordered a 1 choice with a side and added on a homemade sausage link. Selected the homemade Mac and cheese as a side as that's classic and waited a bit for my food... I don't remember the actual cost but it was around $30 for my plate after everything was said and done... Got my food and found a table. Opened it up and was immediately underwhelmed. The brisket looked dry and was from the day before. The sausage looked mid. The Mac and cheese looked extremely loose. All the items had the slightest smoke... Now these are all preference things and this food wasn't for me. Overall not my type of place to the price. Won't go too far into detail but give it a try if you like bbq'ish...

Great Service Makes All the Difference -- Shoutout to Jed!…read more In my opinion, Gen Korean BBQ is a relatively standard Korean BBQ experience when it comes to the food. Everything is good, but nothing particularly stands out as exceptional. That said, Korean BBQ options are limited here on Maui, so it's still a fun experience and something we appreciate having available locally. What truly made our visit a five-star experience, however, was our server, Jed. Jed is a great young man and an exceptional server. From consistently checking in on us to communicating clearly and making sure we had everything we needed, he demonstrated the kind of genuine customer service that can completely change a dining experience. His attentiveness felt natural, his communication was excellent, and he made us feel taken care of throughout our visit. Good food is one thing, but great service is what makes customers want to return. My wife and I left feeling that Jed was the highlight of our experience, and honestly, he is the reason we would be happy to come back. I hope management recognizes the value he brings to your restaurant. Employees like Jed deserve to be acknowledged, appreciated, and rewarded for the effort they put into their work. Management, give this kid a raise! He represents the kind of hospitality that makes a lasting impression and keeps customers coming back. Thank you, Jed, for making our experience memorable!

Kahului (Maui) Whole Foods Salad Bar…read more I shop at Whole Foods regularly. This time I had to pop in for a salad. I had a huge dinner the night before and was determined to keep it small and cheap. I used the small box. What I put in: Spinach and Romaine Sprinkle of corn Touch of celery Sprinkle of black beans Small pieces of broccoli Small olives and 1 reg size About 4 small cubes of baked chicken breast About 3-4 cubes of sweet potato A few pieces of sliced mushroom No salad dressing (I had my own) I was amazed at the price since I usually end up at $20-30. It priced out at half a pound and $6.50. I came away with a sense that I'm getting more value at Whole Foods, since I spend at lot here. I'm not usually this frugal, but kind of experimented to see if I can be satisfied with a small salad with a lot of my favorite ingredients. I'm sure there are plenty of salad bar practitioners that have done this
