I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant and I cannot keep up with my feet the way I want to, so I decided it was time to get a pedicure. C & K is right in front of my neighborhood so I ventured to check it out. The entire experience from walking in until leaving was great. I was greeted immediately, and then explained the prices difference in shellac and regular mani/pedis. I told them I wanted both a mani and a pedi, and I wanted shellac. I was worried that I was going to have to do one and then the other, but instead they took care of both at the same time. I was getting a back massage from the chair, while having a hot stone massage on my feet and my hands being massaged too. It was heaven, especially for a almost 7 month pregnant woman. The music was soothing, and the environment was cool and nice. The techs were very friendly, asked enough questions to be friendly but didn't talk so much that I felt like I couldn't relax. Love getting my nails done here! I've gone about 5 or 6 times now and never have to wait too long. The prices are very reasonable and the ladies there are very attentive and sweet. I have gotten a toe polish change for $8! Also have gotten a shellac and gel manicure with designs and it ranged anywhere from $20-$50. Sammie is amazing at designs but I'm not sure if she works there any longer. My twin girls, age 11, we're given gift cards to have their nails done here. We visited, each of them had a friend as well, one of which is Vietnamese. She translated for us after we left, regarding how nasty they talked about us during our visit. On top of that fact, one of my girls nails look so awful, we had to go somewhere and have them completely redone. We were very disappointed in the quality. This place was pretty busy when I arrived on a Saturday, late afternoon. The staff was moving all over, including the manager. They were juggling many clients with a variety of different services. These girls know how to multi-task! The manager serviced me and she was incredibly sweet and kind. I had a pedicure that was wonderfully relaxing. And she gave great service; she noticed a mosquito bite (damn Texas bugs!) and asked if it was painful so she wouldn't aggravate it. Very considerate. I would've gave them five stars, if it wasn't for the fact that they didn't have enough staff on hand to handle the clientele. But hey, it's a good sign if they're busy, right? read more

The only problem that I have with this place is that my nails are way too thick and they looked grown out after 3 days because the tip was put too far on the edge to where my natural nail could still be seen. I'm not sure if who I got was new or not but the appointment took over an hour and a half for an acrylic fill with gel polish and the day after all of the polish started chipping. I've had acrylics with gel for almost two years now and this has never been an issue. I won't be back. read more

Parents, dont take your kids here! They'll take advantage of them! I've had my nails done here before - not bad, but not outstanding either. But tonight they earned a one star rating by taking advantage of kids. My 15 year old daughter and her friend made an appointment the day of - which is great - and were 10-15 min late for that apt (not cool on their part but Austin traffic, ya know?). They ended up waiting an hour and half - 90 minutes! After 30 minutes they asked when they'd be seen, were told next, but someone else walked in who was seen first! Same thing happened after an hour. At 90 minutes, they called me and I came to get them. When i talked to the staff, they only had excuses and put the blame on the girls - 15 yr old girls - for being late. We've all been late, but adults wouldn't tolerate a 90 minute+ wait. Not cool! You know they would never do this to adults. read more

Dear C&K Nails, I'm done with you. Getting my nails done is the only personal "luxury" I allow myself. I don't go to a hair salon because I cut and color my own hair. I don't have my eyebrows groomed, I do them myself. I don't have my legs waxed, I shave them. I don't Botox my wrinkles and laugh lines because I've earned them. (no offense to those who do) Getting my nails done is a treat for me, the snotty attitude of your nail techs and snarky comments of one guy in particular are not. Unbeknownst to you this was your third strike. You're not the only game in town and I'm done giving you my money just to sit there and feel like I'm interrupting your day somehow by being there. As if my coming in has inconvenienced you in some way. I understand everyone has a bad day from time to time. But as I mentioned earlier, this was strike three. On two prior occasions, I experienced the same arrogant attitude from two different techs. Now today, a third. This tells me that this attitude is not only prevalent, but it appears to be the norm among the staff. Quit acting like YOU'RE doing ME a favor by doing my nails. I do a binary scale (1 star for *would not go back or recommend* and 5 stars for *would go back*) Cons: - I have bubbles in my nails- I have never had a gel manicure where this has happened. - my nails were haphazardly filed- they are not smooth and there was not a lot of time spent on filing them. - the same goes for my cuticles- there are parts that needed more attention but was rushed. This is a great nail salon. I moved to the Anderson Mill area about a year ago and have now been to C&K about a dozen times. They are always very friendly and do a wonderful job. I usually get a regular manicure and a spa pedicure and have never been disappointed. The salon is clean and while it can get busy at some times, I've never waited very long even when I've walked in without an appointment. My first negative review on yelp! My mother and I went for mani/pedi. Our first experience at C&K, and our last. I've never had an issue at any Austin nail salon matching a no-chip to regular. The young man at the salon was rude, yelling at us that the numbers were the same. The colors were no where the same. Not even close (see photos). He was very aggressive yelling to call the factory?! If I were the other customers waiting, I would have left. All we wanted was for them to match (with in reason) the colors. All he cared was the numbers matched. So strange! This place is small but they have the best hospitality! I had just moved to the northwest part of Austin and had give up the salon that did my nails on a regular basis. I tend to be a little picky. This place had a very small variety of colors of shellac but I tried them anyway. I have been going there for 6 months now never disappointed. They always offer me beverages. I always select a color then adds sparkles to it. The lady knowing this bought 3 more color with sparkles in it. They are decent price and take their time on the service they give you. They also use a punch card system so that you can get a discount every so many services. This place seems to be pretty new so buisness seems slow at this point so it tends to be real quite with nice relaxing music. Most the time I am fighting now sleeping I am so relax.
