I used to come to Juut back when I went to college at St Thomas and haven't really been back for a haircut since then. I was in desperate need of a cut and I'm glad I came in! Jen was my stylist and she did an awesome job. It's always so hard finding a new stylist that you trust and that does a stellar job and Jen did not disappoint. I had even brought in a couple of photos of men's cuts that I was leaning towards and she followed the pictures to a T. The men's cut is $50 but includes a shampoo and head massage. Jen was really knowledgeable about men's haircuts and had suggested a fade. She was great company and quite the conversationalist which made the visit enjoyable. I am super disappointed with my experience at Juut. I called the salon at 3:57pm on Wednesday 11/27 to book a blowout for that Friday morning (as I was having trouble using their online booking system). Spoke with a very friendly representative on the phone who confirmed that my blowout had been booked for 9am that Friday. When I arrived on Friday morning I was told I didn't have an appointment....they blamed their 'reservation specialists' as not being very good...and offered no solution at all... Quite disappointing when you book a blowout for an event, show up with hair unwashed / un-styled hair, expecting to leave and head directly there and offered ZERO solution. Will not be returning. You charged me for a missed appointment that was made by your reservation desk at the time of my last appointment. Your policy to charge your clients 100% of the cost of the service for missing that appointment was never mentioned during the scheduling. Nor was I asked if it was okay to store my payment information indefinitely. Finally, your text messages do not warn of this overcharge. You indicate that this policy has been in place for over a year. Who cares?! In all the time that I have been in your establishment, this has never been detailed. Where are your privacy and payment notifications? If you retain my credit card info in your computer, then I should receive an annual privacy notice. She did exactly what I needed and I was nervous to get my hair trimmed (as an African American and loving long hair) but I will be coming back again! I've been a loyal customer at Juut St. Paul for 5 years. The last few months, I've had 9 appointments cancelled where I've had to reschedule. (Post re-opening of stores) Today, I got a call an hour and a half before my appointment that it was cancelled again. I had taken PTO from work and had moved my entire schedule around. (for what feels like the hundredth time.) I understand things are different with COVID. But 9 cancellations is absolutely insane! Thankfully I was able to reschedule at a different location. Horrible horrible experience. Do NOT come here, was a total waste of time. I made an appointment over a week in advance for 11:45am, called to try to move it up to when they open at 11, never heard back. Show up day of at 11 they tell me the stylist won't be in until 11:45 so I have to come back. Fine. I leave, come back at 11:30 and the same cashier tells me I have no appointment and tried to tell me that I canceled the appointment. When I tell her I had already been in and talked to her she got all flustered then told me the stylist called in sick. Wasn't apologetic, didn't offer me any alternatives. Finding the perfect stylist who just GETS your hair is kind of like the quest for the Holy Grail--you can spend your whole life in pursuit of it, and in the end you're not even sure if the object you're pursuing really exists. I've found many stylists who I'm pretty happy with at other locations, but (excuse me while I knock on wood) Alli Johnson might be my personal Holy Grail Stylist. I have objectively difficult hair. It is thick, frizzy, unevenly curly, unruly and fine. I usually wear it straight, and I'm in the process of growing it out. Alli (a curly-haired woman herself) has given me two of the best cuts I've ever had, keeping the length while building perfectly shaped layers, and her blowout skills are second to none. Literally even after SLEEPING on my blowout, it still looked amazing this morning. Props to Alli. I was uncertain about the cost--a haircut with her is not cheap, and I only got my first cut with her because I had a gift card--but damn! You get what you pay for. read more

Some may argue that eyebrows are the most important feature to a woman's face, but I couldn't disagree more. I believe hair is the most important face framing feature. Despite what side you are on you're able to have the best of both worlds here at Juut on Grand Ave. I don't know how important hair is to people, but for myself it's something that I NEED to have perfectly cut and styled everyday. So when it comes to having shears touch my hair, those shears better be in EMMY L.'s right hand. I've been seeing Emmy for years now, and I've slowly have learned to trust her. I no longer spend hours saving photos on the internet of celebrities' hair I envy, I schedule the appointment, and tell her to just 'do yo thang'. An hour and a half later it comes out PERFECT! I'm able to say that because she's given me long layers, side swept bangs, blunt cuts, short bobs, shoulder length cuts, blunt bangs...as you can tell I believe life is too short to stick to one style. It's so much fun to look at your Facebook photos over the years and see yourself with a new do. Overall pleasant experience. Sometimes it's really great, other times ok. I love the atmosphere, here. I love the complimentary tea. Relaxing atmosphere. Every service is different depending on how that person's day or week is going, and the different types of personalities. For the most part, people seem to like their jobs and treat you well. I had medium to long length hair and I got a long A line hair cut which is super cute because Kia did a great job with the cut and putting in some swing cuts and volumes. I love this location! They truly have worked excellent service into every facet of their business. The staff is always friendly, their space is beautiful, and they really believe in being a 'daymaker'! They offer some kind of refreshment (water, coffee, tea), hang your coat for you, and have a heated toilet seat. Who doesn't want a hot ass? ;) The important stuff: hair service. You know that feeling you get when you see your food coming at a restaurant? That's the feeling I get after Emma works magic with my hair! I love that she listens to me and then will work with me to achieve my hair dreams or will talk me down off a crazy hair ledge. She's honest about what is possible but does her absolute best to make your hair dreams a reality. Emma gets to know you and know what works best for your lifestyle and I love that! For example: she knows I'm lazy with upkeep and like low maintenance hair so she curates hair colors for me that are easily styled and easy to maintain. My hair daydreams came true at Juut! I had virgin hair until 8/14 and I went to another Aveda salon and did not get what I wanted. It looked good, just not what I wanted. At Juut you definitely get what you pay for! I got a bleach and tone and a cut. My colorist/stylist were both masters. Do not schedule a visit with Francesca at Juut on Grand. She discriminates. Visiting family for Christmas, my mother and I scheduled joint appointments. My mother for a haircut; me for a perm. I came in 15 minutes early for the consultation, and Francesca had gotten as far as telling me which color rod she would use. When I mentioned I was a single mom working several jobs, she suddenly said she couldn't help me today. She said she didn't have enough time, with her "other guests." When I asked how much time they had scheduled for me, she wasn't sure, but thought two hours. My hair is shoulder length; not so long as to require more time than the average booking. The front desk staff were not concerned; merely offered me my coat. No effort to help. read more

In my opinion Juut is incredibly overrated. I have been to the Roseville location a couple of times for facials and they were OK. The first was better than the second so I thought I would give the Grand Ave location a shot since I had a GC to use. Even calling to make the appointment was a less than great experience. The front desk people must not enjoy their jobs at all because they were neither helpful nor friendly. My facial was just OK. I've had decidedly better facials. The one saving grace was that when the girl who did my facial saw that I was booked in for a Green Science facial she said that service was designed for much older women and recommended a standard spa facial which was a bit less expensive. Overall, while I wouldn't say I loathe Juut or anything nearly that strong I would say the Rocco Altobelli and Spalon Montage are far superior in service and quality. read more

Have you ever been in the chair, unhappy with the cut but not saying anything about it because you didn't want the cut to get any worse? That was me. My stylist was very nice - I enjoyed her personality. However, the cut was not good or what I asked for, and she stopped mid-cut to wash someone else's hair. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes - including the time we spent chatting about what kind of cut I was looking for and the time she spent with another client! I left with my hair practically not styled at all. $100+ on a 30 minute cut! I usually see a stylist at a different Juut salon who I am very satisfied with, but I tried the St. Paul Juut this time, which is closer to home. This is the most basic (in a bad way) cut I've had in a long time. I have come to expect more from Juut. read more

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Juut as a first-timer with the intention of cutting off a significant amount of hair...like, over a foot to be exact. It could have been a complete disaster, but thanks to Sara F., I could not be happier with the result! The stylists are referred to as "Daymakers" (it even says so on their business cards) and lemme tell you, it's nothing short of accurate. Upon entering you're offered a coffee, water or hot mint tea and I must say, if I ever part with Aveda salons I'll continue to seek out that tea (http://www.aveda.com/products/CATEGORY10701/Body/Tea/index.tmpl?ngextredir=1#) because it is so good! The lobby is really spacious and stark white--nice, but who really cares about the lobby when the most important part of your visit is the service? However, the one thing I do wish they had are some hairstyle magazines because I didn't bring a picture with and would have liked to explore my options beforehand. (Luckily, I didn't end up needing a picture to get the outcome I was hoping for!) One of my favorite things about Juut is that you get a complimentary bang trim (or in my case, a 'shape up' since I don't have bangs) a couple of weeks after your cut. Excellent. I don't trust many people with my hair...actually I don't trust ANYONE. Except a certain someone at this salon: EMMY L.. I've been going to her for years now and she never fails to make my hair look great. They always have tea and water (I think it's cucumber and lemon infused...or something refreshing like that) available for you to grab yourself if you change your mind after declining a drink from the woman who tells you to have a seat. I think Emmy is an overall good person to get a haircut from. I've been to other salons in the past and I always feel so intimidated by the woman cutting my hair because most of the time I would get pretentious women or I would just feel like they didn't really care about my hair issues. She's always excited to see you and catch up with you about life and it's always good to see what's going on with her too. If you are a woman with thin/fine hair, she is the person to see!! I have really fine/thin hair and just talking about it right now makes me want to cringe. I feel like good hair and confidence are most definitely tied together!! I've always been majorly insecure about my hair but whenever I see Emmy she always genuinely assures me that it's not that bad. I always feel a little better when she tells me that. She's always introducing me to products or ways I can style my hair to make it look more full, which I appreciate so much. I sampled the Invanti system in the past per her recommendation and when I use it, it works SO well for me. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I can never put a price on hair that makes me feel more like myself. If you're looking for a new salon/new hair stylist, try this location out and see Emmy Le. I'm such a firm believer in the whole saying, "you get what you pay for" and this is one of those instances. I used to get my hair chopped by random places and I was NEVER satisfied. I live all the way in Plymouth and I drive to St. Paul to get my hair cut LOL...worth every penny and every gallon of gasoline. read more

My sister and I went to Juut for pedicures on Friday after purchasing a groupon. The pedicure was a very pleasant experience. They have large, leather massaging chairs and offer a warm, scented towel for your neck. They can do two pedicures at a time but the chairs are across the room from each other, not next to each other. I thought the pedicure was pretty good. We had the balancing pedicure which is about $60-65. It starts with your standard soak and nail trim. Then you get a nice salt scrub for your legs and feet followed by polish. I thought the polish job was excellent. My only complaint: I don't really like when salons charge different amounts based on the person performign the service, especially for pedicures. I'm pretty sure my pedicure was exactly the same as my sister's pedicure, but mine was $5 more... read more
