The salon is a convenient location and I was looking for some one new as my former stylist was far away. I booked an appointment with Maragret for a cut and color. The salon is cut and not pretentious which I loved. But that's where it stopped. My first time in I thought I would explain what I like and don't like and was open to suggestions but didn't have any and was like why change it. I said I wanted her perspective and see what she thought and said I should just keep it the same. The color was decent but not impressed with the cut. I tried chatting with her but responded I'm focusing and don't like talking when I'm coloring. It was super awkward and felt very uncomfortable. Not impressed and will not be back. read more

(They don't need all the compliments!) made an appointment and she was fabulous catering to my schedule and needs..so refreshing! Most places you call and they act like they are doing you a favor...by going to THEIR business and PAYING them!? Not Drey, she was so incredibly sweet and it made me look forward to my appointment. Salon was easy to find and great parking! Can't stress how nice that is! Was greeted the second I walked in and offered a beverage and an iPad to look at hair styles. Drey was right on time and so warm and made me feel right at ease. (She has the best hair..so envious) We talked and she helped me choose a style that would compliment me personally..you don't get that very often. I ended up getting the ombré color and a fresh hair cut. I will not lie, there have been very few times that I have left a salon completely happy, it's not that I am picky..but that the stylists don't take into account your face shape and tone before coloring and cutting..Drey did just that. My recent customer service experience: a comedy of errors. Before attending their annual December 2019 Open House, I called to reserve an Aveda product for purchase when I arrived for their open house event and was told it'd be waiting there for me when I arrived. I was also told the total amount would be $13 + some change. When I arrived, the doors had just opened welcoming customers, and I strolled around looking at all the wares and eating a few treats. When I'd seen enough, I waited in line at the counter to request my product for purchase. Once I did, I waited, and waited, and waited for the staff member to return to me and then she informed me that the item was 'on back order', and they did not know when the item would arrive in store. She asked whether I wanted to 'pre-pay' for the item and I agreed - I had the cash with me. After ringing up the item, she announced a total amount greater than what I'd been told over the phone - it was a $4+ higher. ?!? I asked if they would send me the item when it did finally arrive in store, given that I'd driven there to buy it that day - it would save me another 20+ mile roundtrip. They agreed. I had to ask for a receipt, and received a hand-written one, signed by the owner/manager, Julie. Mid-January rolled around - no product received - and I was going to be out of town for 10 days. I did not want to take the chance of the item arriving while I was gone and then sitting out on my front porch, freezing, until I arrived home. So I called to ask them to 'hold' the product in store if it arrived while I was out of town; I also said that I would be home on a specific date in later January, and stated that they could then send out the item any time after that - that I would be home to receive it. The employee agreed to my instructions, saying she wrote a detailed note. Early March comes around, and still no arrival of product. I called the salon and learned that the item was there. There was no good answer to why the product had not been mailed out to me, and no answer about when, exactly, the product had arrived in store. It was agreed that the product would be sent out to me immediately. I asked to speak with the shop owner/manager, Julie, who apparently, wouldn't be in until Monday. Update: Item arrived 2 days after my call. Julie returned my call on Monday evening. I described my concerns and disappointment about this experience and suggested this situation could have been averted had the employee who answered my call in the beginning verified that the product was out of stock - that it was on back-order with an 'unknown' re-stock date - instead of telling me that my "product would be waiting for me when I arrived for their Holiday Open House". Julie kept her response positive, cheery, and seemed to want to explain away the production and supply issues by offering the spiel about Aveda being owned by Estee Lauder. It also seemed she wanted to convey an abundance of caution in not sending out the product until I called them, again, to tell them I was back in town - despite the fact I told the employee on the phone the specific date I would be home and they should send me the product anytime after that date. Overall, this feels like a bland, luke-warm and unsatisfying customer service experience. read more

Went for color, cut and deep conditioning with the stylist named Meg. The worst service anyone can provide. For color I told her mine is not black but brownish black color and do the same thing. She said yea she has mixed two colors and when I can finally see the color after wash and dry it's black ; I mean seriously .. then moving on to washing part the lady did shampoo only once after color leaving my forehead near hairs looking black and yes when I came back home I again had to do head wash because the color was not washed properly. For haircut I told trim with layers but no I can't see any layers at the back they look same height only except some strands in front. You are charging 150+ dollar for horrible service.. not worth spending time and money over here. read more

The salon was really easy to find. They even easier to book. I found them on Yelp and booked through the salon's site. It allowed me to create my account and select who I wanted to see for my service. I saw Margaret. She was kind and smelled really good. It's an Aveda salon, so everything smelled good! I went in for a brow wax my first time there. I was sat at the hair wash section (unofficial name) and had my head tilted back to get my service. (There is not a private spa room for brow waxing.) The lighting was dim which could be improved, however I think my esthetician did well with the amount of light she had. I asked her to do what I was looking for and she sure did. She's the first person to do very minimal, such as waxing, plucking, and trimming. As a matter of fact, she didn't have much plucking to do as the wax picked up every piece of baby hair nor did she have to trim my brows. I thoroughly love my brows! Her minimalist way worked out for my worries. The whole session took less than 15 minutes. I will have to see her again! read more

I called them this morning to see if they accept Aveda gift cards and the woman who answered said 'yes'. I drove all the way there and picked out my product. From the outside, you'd think this was a total hole in the wall. It's a very basic little World War II-era building. However, the inside is a very pleasant surprise. It's beautifully renovated in the last few years, and feels very bright, clean, and high-end inside. I've been going to Paula to get my hair cut here for about two years, and I've really enjoyed the place. The staff are friendly, and I've been happy with my haircuts. The atmosphere is great. They have a big selection of Aveda and other products, but I've never felt pressured to buy products just because I'm in for a haircut. It's a little pricey (I pay $45+ for a men's haircut), but definitely worth it. My only request would be for them to add a small bike rack! It's difficult to find a good space to lock up. There is a small car parking lot in front, although it is a little awkward. There's street parking available as well, although close spots are a bit hard to come by. read more

Well that doesn't happen if you see Mary at Salon Junallo. Quite honestly, I was wishing that I could sleep perfectly on my hair so that I wouldn't mess it up. I've been seeing Mary for my hair care needs for years, and while I have *shamefully* strayed from time-to-time, she has always kept my hair in tip top shape, and I keep going back for more. In fact, I followed her from her long stint (almost 10 years I think?) at Rocco Altobelli to this new location and am certainly glad I did. While I would rate my hair cut with Mary 5 stars, I stopped short only because of the salon part of the experience. I was greeted at the front desk and offered a beverage, only to have the receptionist forget about me and go back to reading her magazine. Not the best first impression. Mary gives a shampoo that would be better described as a "fantastic head massage that cleans hair, too," and her consultation skills are top-notch. I have gone from short hair to long to short and then in the middle and have never once had a "bad" haircut from her. She's one of those stylists that could easily carve out a haircut on the cutting edge, then give your grandmother a classic cut, and make your mom look like your sister all in one fell swoop. In short, I'll go back to this salon because of her scissor skills, professionalism, and not-at-all pushy product recommendation. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to refer any of my best friends to her, and while her prices aren't for the budget-minded, the quality far surpasses the price. read more

Jenny saved me from a hair disaster. I actually found her when she was at another salon at MOA, but after 2 appointments I had no problem following her to her new salon. The salon is pretty quiet, even though it's busy every time I'm there. They call 2 days prior to your appointment to confirm, which is nice in case you forgot to put it on your calendar. When you arrive, you will often be offered water, tea or coffee, which is great--especially for me because I'm usually there for 2 hours and am parched from chatting with Jenny so much! (btw, she isn't slow...I just have a ton of hair on my head!) When I first met Jenny, she had the task of changing my brassy, orange (you heard me correctly) botch job that I received from another salon into a cool, light ash blonde. Let me tell you ladies...Jenny is a bleach and tone goddess! She always knows the right thing to do or recommend, and I really trust her opinion after working with her so much now. Everyone seems to keep to themselves, unlike some salons where everyone seems to be in everyone's business. I love their use of Aveda products--after using many of them, I now understand why they're priced as high as they are. The price of the services aren't cheap either, but I think these days when it comes to hair salons, you get what you pay for. It's an adorable place inside--full of character. I especially like their towel storage behind the washing station as well as the decor in the bathroom. I know that may sound weird, but I have a future house to decorate, and I love getting ideas! I go to Kristi for my hair. Lover her, fun and creative. I have long hair and a 1/2 foil highlight and cut runs around $100 currently. She also cuts my BF hair and does a stellar job. She's fun to talk to and always has ideas on what we can do with my locks. I've been seeing Kristi for over a year and I plan to stick with her. Recently got my brows waxed (Marilyn) and loved the results, they look amazing. I initially thought the price is a little high, like $25 + tip. But it was relaxing and the results were worth the cost. I've also gotten my nails done here. I got a french shellac manicure and I think it was around $55, slightly more than the hole-in-the-wall places but again, you get what you pay for and the experience at Junallo is always more "spa" like than beauty salon. Manicure results were great! They recently re-decorated the salon and the new stations are much roomier and more private. The location seem a little out of the way but I've never had trouble making an appointment and they have good hours. read more

I had my hair done here for my wedding and was very pleased with the results. Allison did my hair, and the run-through and wedding day both went smoothly. She listened to my suggestions and built upon them to make my up-do look even better than I had envisioned. I also had my bridal party's hair done here by various stylists. Some people knew exactly what they wanted, while others had no idea, and the stylists were able to please everyone. I am a low-maintenance hair-style person, so it was a bit surprising to me that the stylists here are specialized - i.e., some only do up-dos, some only do highlights, some won't do up-dos, some won't do hair cuts, etc. Perhaps this is normal for salons such as this, but it surprised me when I went to make the appointments. Each stylist has their own schedule book, so when we came in the day of, and I didn't have the list of which person was with which stylist, it created confusion. Probably my fault, and not a big deal, but don't lose your list! Everyone was very nice and helpful as we took over the place for the morning, making this a wonderful memory as part of my wedding day. So, I've driven past this salon for years and the parking lot is always full and there is a pretty chandelier in the window, its an Aveda salon, and they also sell Monacan Oil products too, and the reviews are really good so I figured I'd give it a try. I liked their on-line scheduling system, easy to use and you can pick the times you want. But that's where the pro's to Salon Junallo end... First, they salon was probably very nice 5+ years ago. The chairs and work stations are stained and beat-up. The lobby offers water and coffee from a Mr. Coffee pot that I was not offered but had to ask for a mug. The receptionist seemed more interested in chatting and her cell phone than greeting customers- not exactly luxury salon quality. My first first visit the stylist was a mess. Her station was dirty- hair clippings in drawers, scissors, combs, brushes everywhere the station was full of crap. She dropped scissors, combs and clips on the floor and reused them during my service. She didn't use any Aveda products on me during my highlight and cut. And for three days after my highlight you could still smell the hair dye, even after washing it. I'm in the service industry, and I get it, some days are bad days and I decided to give Salon Junallo a second chance but saw a more expensive stylist. She did the Aveda head massage thing to start out, which was really nice and she used Aveda products on me. But this time there was no attempt to make conversation, she let me sit there and look at my phone the entire time. I was seated next to the woman who did my hair the last visit and I watched her drop a used towel on the floor after she finished a client. Then the next client sat down and she picked the dirty towel off the floor and put it around the next of the client. GROSS!!! In the salon my hair looked okay, but the next morning my highlights were BLUE! Now, I've been highlighting my hair for 20+ years and this has NEVER happened! Thankfully, a girlfriend who is a stylist was visiting from out of town and was able to correct the toner issue for me at my house. The last thing I wanted to do was call this place and have someone correct it knowing how they operate! The part that irked me the most was that the prices for the individual stylists on the website where I made the appointment were $25-$40 less expensive than what they charged me with no explanation as to why there was an increase. Does the website have old pricing? For the same price I can go to Juut and have a real luxury experience. Don't waste your time or your money at Salon Junallo! read more

I miss Salon Junallo specially Kelly, she always did wonders with my hair. Every time I showed Kelly a picture of a different hair color she always delivered and I was a happy camper. I was her loyal customer for 2.5 years before I had to move to TX. The salon is very nice and clean, very friendly staff who greet you once you enter. If I cold I would fly out every eight weeks to get my hair done I definitely would. After a lot of searching ,I went with salon junallo to get my haircut done by Jason. I was told my appointment will be at 04.15 but had to wait for 20mins . Moving on I told him what I wanted ,he listen to me and got onto the process of cutting my hair. End result : meh! I wasn't blown away by the haircut he gave me. It wasn't anything great. I asked him for lot of layers and that wasn't there and to top it all he curled my hair. For a person with chubby face, curly hair did not look good. My boyfriend,my friends saw my hairstyle and they weren't impressed. The 2 stars is for salon itself which was neat and welcoming. When it comes to haircut,I felt it was a waste of money to pay 60$. I kept coming here to see Marilyn for my hair removal needs but from time to time it was a major pain seeing her as receptionists would not pick up the phone, or would say she was on vacation/jury duty/etc. and then offer THEMSELVES to perform the service for me. When I got in contact with her again I found out that I was misled as to her availability. I have gone here for many years and am partial to having my hair done (both color and cuts) by Crystal. The place is small but parking is easy. The staff at the desk are very pleasant. I love the Aveda products despite their high cost. I think the cost of services is reasonable and Crystal is rarely running late. I actually prefer this type of small place (there are maybe 15-18 stations), plus manicures, etc than a huge chain (used to go to Rocco Altobelli). Again, the stylist is why women go to where they go, and I am no different. It's more of a personal choice. read more

My colorist at Juut was never able to give me exactly what I wanted with my highlights (I wanted bold blonde highlights in front). Well, I found Drey at Salon Junallo and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I finally have the color/highlights I had been seeking and also, she gave me a fabulous haircut that I can now manage on my own. This place is fine for haircuts and quick stuff, but I went in for prom and showed the lady of an easy half up half down look with braids and she said she could do it no problem. She turned me around so I couldn't see what she was doing the whole time. And when she was finished it was a braid twist human hybrid. We called later and it took and hour to get even a partial refund. My friend also got her hair done at the same time and the lady warned her that she couldn't do braids?!?! I mean who can't do braids you learn that in middle school! Would not recommend if you care about how you look. read more

I'm really sad to write this review. I got married at the end of November, and set up an appointment to have my hair done on my wedding day. I brought alone a photo of the style I wanted, and let me just say, was a very EASY style. Loose curls, with a lot of volume at the root. I considered doing my hair myself, because I knew how simple the style was, but was convinced by friends that I would enjoy the salon experience that day. The appointment itself was fine. My stylist's name was Kelly, and she was pleasant. But things started going downhill right off the bat when she insisted on washing my hair. Now, I'm not a stylist. But I like to think I know a few things about beauty, and if you want your hair to hold volume and a curl, you don't start with clean hair. After washing and drying my hair, she spent fricking forever curling and pinning my hair. After all was said and done, I expected her to go in and tease like crazy, because my hair looked NOTHING like what I wanted. But after a few teasing strokes in my bangs (not enough to actually hold the tease), she said "this isn't holding like I'd hoped." She got another stylist, who told her that she probably shouldn't have started with clean hair. And that was the end of my appointment. I did everything I could to fix my own hair on my wedding day, and will forever look back on my wedding photos hating the way I looked. I would not ever recommend this salon to brides. read more

Very happy with Paula. Went to her after seeing "her hair" on two others who recommended her. My hair had had "quite the time" with another salon (Simonson's Maple Grove). Paula put in the extra brain power to figure out how to get my color right and rectify past problems. She went through pictures with me to make sure she understood - (Haven't you always wondered why stylists don't do this?). Turned out great. Haircut was good, too. AND my hair is healthy for the first time in years! It was more expensive than I anticipated but she spent almost 2 hours with me. I too am appalled to read j.g.'s review as I have had nothing but great experiences at Salon Junallo with Charity. She has always been very fun, friendly and professional (as is the rest of staff). I have been going there for a couple of years for my cut/color and for my son's haircut as well. Charity is very detail oriented and makes sure it is a perfect cut and keeping it simple for me as well. j.g.'s review sounds very out of character for Charity and makes me question his integrity. I also find it interesting that a guy feels "rushed" to get a haircut-what guy do you know wants to spend any time longer than necessary in a hair salon?!
