I don't like to leave negative reviews but as time goes on my color and cut just seem to get worse. I was hoping as cut grew out it would improve. Nope it's worse. Natalie did my hair at Christopher J's and it was a disaster. My appt was Oct 24. at 11:30 am. I just moved to Plymouth Oct 2. My previous stylist used Wella products and I found Christopher J's on the Wella salon finder site. I was thrilled when they had a 4.7 star rating. I had the "formula" my former stylist used. Natalie seemed very happy I had that information. When my hair was processing I noticed the color did not look quite right. I mentioned it to Natalie when she was washing the color out. She told me "oh we did not have one of the colors so I just substituted". WHAT??? She never discussed this with me and 5 years of perfecting my color was shot to he-- in 45 minutes. If Natalie had given me the respect of letting me know she did not have what was needed for my color we could have discussed it and figured an alternative was close to my color. Instead I have a color I hate more and more. So that was the color; now the hair cut. OH MY GOSH. This is the worst cut I've had in 20 years. I cannot do anything with it. She kept saying oh it's a shag. No my cut was not a shag. I wanted my same cut just shorter and shaped. I let's rally look like I have the same cut as I did in 7th grade in 1975. Jo shape, sticks out all over. My natural curls are flat and frizzy. Normally I could up 3-4 days without washing my hair and it would brush out beautifully with dry shampoo and keeps its style. Not now, it has no style and was cut so short I'm praying I can find someone who can fix it. After putting my color on Natalie never came back to check it or ask if I was ok or did I need anything. Maybe I was spoiled by my previous salon but they had water and little snacks and Brittany always checked on me 2-3 times during 40 minutes of processing. Other stylists did not smile nor say hi. I would look around and if I made eye contact they would not smile back or acknowledge me. Salon is pretty and clean.

The day of the appointment I got a call from someone else (stylist B) saying that she was running 20 min behind and asked if I could come 20 min later than scheduled, I said sure and that's what I did. I get there and stylist B greets me, this is when I realized she isn't the person I booked with, based on the picture. She said "your haircut is now with Stylist C and pointed to another woman standing by the desk. I had no choice in the matter and was already very annoyed but the switch ups but didn't feel like I could say no, plus I needed a haircut. Let's just say I was less than thrilled with stylist C and the haircut I ended up with. Also very unhappy with how unprofessional stylist B was, she never mentioned she is taking over my appointment, and she called to change the appointment time and was still unavailable. I also want to mention that I emailed the salon sharing my disappointment and have not heard back at all.. no apology, explanation or anything. So if you have a preference for a stylist make sure they don't change things up on you! Very disappointing customer service.

I want to share my incredibly distressing experience at Lua Nova Salon. I walked in excited for a new hairstyle, having shown the stylist a picture of what I wanted--a long bob (LOB) with layers. However, from the very first cut, I sensed something was off. The stylist next to mine reacted with wide eyes, looking back and forth between my hair and the floor, which immediately raised my concerns. Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed as the stylist butchered my hair. Instead of the layers I requested, I left with a blunt cut short bob that was nothing like what I had envisioned. To make matters worse, I was asked to leave while still in shock and tears. My distress made the stylist uncomfortable--yes, MY tears over my butchered hair were making HER uncomfortable. I was asked to leave looking like this, which made the situation all the more horrifying. I can't believe I walked into a place where, within 15 minutes, all my hair was chopped off, and I was treated as if I were the issue. I felt dismissed and invalidated during a moment that was deeply personal to me. I cannot express how heartbroken I am over this experience. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. I strongly advise against sitting in Emma Carlson's chair, as my experience with her was nothing short of horrendous. Please be cautious if you decide to visit this salon. What was meant to be a fresh cut to help me take a step forward in overcoming my deep depression has only made things 20 times worse. I came in to get a very simple and straight 2 inch hair trim from Bella and it did not go as I was hoping. Bella was polite and listened to my easy request but her attention to detail and quality was not there. I came in with my hair almost fully dry from freshly washing it so she asked if I had just washed it, which of course I answered yes to. But I wasn't expecting this question to indicate that she would start cutting my hair dry. At first I was confused because at every salon I've been to, shampooing is usually included into the price of a hair cut but I went along with it thinking maybe this place just likes to charge more for shampooing and not mention that on their website or in person (and at this point I wasn't interested in paying them extra for it anyways). Then my dissatisfaction really started to kick in when I watched Bella measure my hair for evenness. When she did this, she took a part of my hair on both sides the first time really fast and with a very quick eye (possibly noticing a difference in length, I'm not really sure); then again immediately after only using her sense of touch while looking completely away from my hair altogether. Then she proceeded to snip a bit more on one side. My trusting personality started out hoping that this was just her technique but when I got home I realized it was purely lack of effort and care. Now, for paying $40 plus tip, I can't expect the best hair cut I've ever had, and apparently a complimentary shampooing either, but for such a basic hair trim, I would expect more than what I left with.
