I have been using Coles hair salons for years and always feel they do a nice job. This particular location is located off highway 77 in a strip mall. There is plenty of free parking. This location is also close to some coffee places (like Starbucks) if you want to grab a drink to have at your appointment. There are two locations in Eagan, so make sure you know which one you are booking at! The vibes: this location is well maintained. It is clean and everyone keeps their areas nice. Compared to the other locations, this one does feel slightly outdated. I also don't like how open the seats are. In Apple Valley they are more "cubical" style, and I like that better. Payton was my stylist and I really enjoyed her. She didn't force talk and let me know every step she was taking. She gave recommendations and was professional! I would happily see her again! My color was exactly what I was looking for! My hair cut was slightly shorter than what I was hoping for, but honestly, I had such bad split ends/ it's summer that I think she did me a favor haha. I did a consultation months ago for my wedding day hair style. She guaranteed she could do the hair style I wanted for my wedding! I said "exactly like this?!" She said YES. I got you! what I wanted and what I got! Soooo not the same. NOT EVEN CLOSE! What pissed me off even more was she had put so much damn hair spray that even if she tried to undo the style and redo it. The worst blowout I have ever had. I made an appointment more than one week in advance and specified the date and time I was looking for. I specifically asked for someone who gave a very good blowout and was told that so and so was available so I asked again if she gives a good blowout and the person on the other end of the phone sheepishly said yes. I should have known better from that point but decided, against my better judgement, to proceed. What a mistake!!! I asked for product with light hold and that turned into hairspraying every single layer as she blew my hair out. I also asked for a large round brush and she used a small round brush which meant tight curls combined with helmet hair. I've been to other locations and have had great blowouts but this was an absolute disaster though I lay fault with whomever booked me. They know who gives a good blowout and who doesn't and this stylist was terrible. read more

I'm hesitant to write this review for fear of people rushing to this location and snatching up all of the appointments! I have been coming here since 2011 and I didn't even live here at the time. My mother, aunt, uncle (the list goes on) go here and all see Susan to do our hair. Susan is a guru when it comes to finding the right color for your hair, helping you materialize a style or haircut and is a go too for special event styling. Susan is so upbeat, energetic, personal and just down right a great person to have in your life, much less your hair stylist. I used to fly in from FL on occasion to get highlights, she did my hair and my bridesmaids hair for my wedding (because I got married in MN), and most recently did mine and my 3 yr olds hair for a wedding. I cannot speak more highly of this place. I got my makeup done by Jordan who is a true artist. She checked in multiple times to ask what I thought, made recommendations and adjusted as needed. I now have a makeup go to! Happily moving to MN soon from WA and am excited to have my hair and makeup stylists locked in. read more

Two years ago I would have given Cole's Salon 5 stars, based on having patronized them for 15+ years and being highly satisfied. But I am done with Cole's now. I can no longer afford them...especially because their stylists are no better than stylists at comparable full-service salons in the immediate area. IMO, they have now finally priced themselves out of the market. Worse, the quality of their stylists is not what it was. I have pspent the past few days checking prices & getting info from other full-service, quality salons. I found that Cole's is charging considerably MORE than ALL other comparable salons in the Eagan area. It seems Cole's has gotten a little too big for their britches...and greedy! I have found a comparable salon, just as convenient to my home, that has much lower prices & many excellent, experienced stylists. The stylist I am now using at the new salon has several more year's experience than the Cole's stylist I was using, who was just OK and who was more expensive! Sorry to go, Cole's, but it appears you overestimated your value & became downright greedy. read more

I visited today for the first time. My mom took me for a facial as a birthday gift. Jenny was my esthetician. AMAZING. I learned so much about my skin and how WRONG I was about the problems I have been having. I've had facials before but never like this. I've worked in cosmetics for years, I've even worked in a spa. This facial hands down was the most professional and informational experience I have ever had. I will definitely be back! Every single appointment I have had here I leave extremely happy. I see Kali B for my hair and she does amazing work. I have never had an issue and she is so talented and so easy to talk to. I also see Allyssa for my nails and she does a phenomenal job and also has an amazing personality. The front desk girls are always helpful, sweet and polite every time. I walked into Cole's because the Great Clips nearby was full. I was amazed at how classy the place was. They accepted me as a walk in and in 5 minutes, I was called for my haircut. Now the problem with Guys getting their haircut is that we always feel safer when men cut our hair. This time though I was pretty confident about what I wanted and she followed my instructions to the letter. For $20 this was a great experience. Walk-ins are ok when they are not busy, but appointments are advisable Still I want to find a place for guys who can get a completely different style from what they have and not look horrible. I don't get my nails done much. I could count on one hand how many times I've actually had someone do my nails. But I had a bad day and wanted to spoil myself! I called at 6:40 and they were able to get me in at 6:50. They were really nice about fitting me in and seemed happy that I wanted to get in before they closed. The staff was friendly and I was surprised how busy it was at seven. Their nail area is in a different part of the salon and the waiting area is big with a library selection of magazines and hair books. This is about the only time I get a chance to read gossip magazines, so imagine my delight when I have to choose between six or seven different ones. Sara did my pedicure with French tips. I got the express pedicure, so I didn't get as much as the rubbing and scrubbing (sad face), but it was still awesome. They have massage chairs that will go for the entire stay and Sara did a great job! My feet are soft and cute. The only problem I had was the price. I'm aware that Aveda is pricier and, really, you kind of pay for what you get. But I would have been fine with a $20 pedicure rather than a $40 one. I was all set to make another appointment a few weeks later until I got my bill. read more

I don't get my hair cut often, but Ali has cut my hair the last couple times and has done a phenomenal job. She is precise and listens to requests. They only had one brand and about 50 colors. My salon at home has several brands of gel polish and almost 300 colors. I really needed the manicure, so I selected the closest color. I give this five stars simply for Carrie Bower and her awesomeness. I've been seeing her for my hair for eight years and she has ALWAYS, ALWAYS done exactly what I want (only better sometimes). When I've wanted to grow my hair out, she responds by only trimming--so many stylists still chop off a lot of hair, leaving the client unsatisfied. Carrie did both of my prom up-dos in high school, again totally getting my vision. She is also a gifted colorist. Two years ago, she took my hair from a dark chestnut brown to blonde with highlights in one sitting. I was shocked, and my coworkers at the time STILL talk about it. She recently took my hair from blonde to brown and it turned out beautifully. She's honest with me, telling me what works and doesn't with my hair, cowlicks and skin tone. Finally, she remembers everything about my family and me. She's loyal to her clients and so easy to talk to. Cole's isn't cheap, and Carrie, especialy, is an advanced stylist so she costs a tad more. But I still see her now that I'm on my own, living in the cities. I've not had any of the other stylists work on my hair, however, I've heard them discuss hair color with Carrie and they seem just as knowledgable. Five stars for Carrie alone, but also the atmosphere and complimentary Aveda tea. PS: I had my nails done once and I was very pleased with my french manicure. read more

I was looking for a salon where I could get the original Brazilian Blowout treatment for my hair and found Cole's on Yelp. I was able to get an appointment the very next day with Shayna. I accidentally went to the wrong Cole's location but was greeted with a friendly and helpful person at the desk who pointed me to the correct location. The Brazilian Blowout is expensive treatment but so worth it! The $250 charge is average for this service. This treatment has transformed my hair from a frizzy puffy mess to shiny, smooth, and straight style. You can still curl your hair too! Shayna was very knowledgeable and friendly. After talking with her, I decided I wanted to cut my hair as well - even though I hadn't scheduled this, Shayna was Able to accommodate me. If you want a good haircut, but no frills, head to Cole's. It's not the pampering paradise, but it's your higher quality chain salon. Maybe it's just the people I work with, but they forewarn if you have long hair, just be careful on the amount you want snipped. They tend to take more off than you expect. Every time I get my hair trimmed by any stylist there they comb up my hair on the right side and tip cut into it at the end of the trim. They never do this on the left side of my hair. So my hair is smooth and sleek on the left side and course and ratty on the right side. WHY? Is there something in their computer file about this. I NEVER ASKED THEM TO DO THIS. I have been going to Cole's on Cliff Road for many years- I started there when it first opened! I have always been satisfied with both my haircuts and my nails. I have been seeing Dawn for over 10 years- she is the best stylist! She listens to what you want and makes suggestions. I have been complimented on my hair many times over the years. Only once I didn't like the haircut and color- I was able to promptly come back and have my hair re-done at no price to me. As far as nail technicians, I will choose Cole's over other places because it is quiet there! Not a lot of people talking loudly at each other and they don't thin down the polishes as some places do. You really do "get what you pay for." I know that there might be another nail salon as good as Cole's, but why change when you are so satisfied? :) I only have pedicures in the times of year when I wear sandals, so the cost is not so much as if I had them done all year. Overall good. Super friendly stylists who really know their trade. I went here for 21 years. Stylists are so great, and the staff is always willing to squeeze you in. However, if your stylist accidentally dyes your hair 3 shades darker than what you asked for, and the dye can't be removed with one malibu treatment, they will ask you to pay $122 to lift the color, even if it was their mistake and even if you are a customer of 21 years like I was. Apparently they have a no color fix policy if you're not happy. Definitely some great things about this salon, but one big bad trait ruins the experience for me. read more

I had a gel manicure last week and after only 4 days, half my fingernails have lost polish both on the edges and complete sides. I called to rebook a redo of polish and they wanted to charge me $32.00! I said I didn't think that was a fair policy. I didn't wreck the nails.. they weren't done correctly! I've been having gel manicures for 5 years now and that has never happened. So I'm going elsewhere. Coles... wake up! Please honor and respect your faithful clients. so, let me start out -. i didnt actually have a service this was my preservice experience. BTW the salon was very dirty. There was hair all over the floor and the brushes looked like they hadnt been cleaned since they were bought.Gross. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I walked into this salon on sunday to a quote. The receptionist was obviously having a bad day because she didnt even acknowledge us when we walked in and pretty much refused to help me.Finally she asked me if I needed something!! After my consultation, I saw my stylist was not interested in helping me and asked if I wanted to make an appointment for the upcoming week. ummm hello?Am i not standing right here? which one would assume hat I want to speak to someone now, not come back for some future time, especially when it was dead and there was only one person doing hair. 5 other stylist were sitting down together talking. bad sign already. So she lets out this long loud sigh and was like okay but i need you to fill out these forms.as if i would fight her about this?? I fill them out and then about 10 min laterLauren comes to get me looking annoyed that she had to talk to me. Over the last 3 years I have had the worst luck with hairstylists and my hair. So for the last year I have been extremely skeptical on going back to a hair salon to get my hair done. I recently went into Cole's hair salon in Eagan with a friend of mine and as I watched her get her hair done, I seen how well Tina did with her that I chose to take a chance and had her do mine as well. I told Tina how nervous I was and I explained my whole scary hair situation that I previously went through. She was very understanding, professional and kind through the whole process. She remembered what I wanted from the consultation to the actual appointment itself. I was amazed how well she listen to my needs which made me calm during the whole thing. (I know it's not a major surgery but I do have to live with my hairstyle lol) I LOVE MY HAIR. The cut, and color is exactly what I wanted. And it feels and looks amazing. I cannot speak on all the stylist there but I know Tina is AWESOME!!! Renee did my makeup for my wedding day on September 22nd, and her work was absolutely flawless. I was literally brought to tears when I first saw myself. I felt beautiful and confident, and I got many compliments. Renee is so kind and she really listened to me and understood what I wanted. I am so grateful to her. Every bride should feel as beautiful as I did on my wedding day. Carrie did my updo, and she did a great job too! When I went in for my practice updo, we didn't quite achieve the look I wanted, but Carrie assured me she would practice, and sure enough, when I came in for my wedding day she nailed the look I wanted. It was wonderful and really fit with my vision. I came in with a group of 8 girls (not including me) who all had their hair and makeup done too. Coles was very accommodating to our large group. The wedding coordinators were helpful in scheduling and answering any questions I had. The girls were happy with their hair and makeup, and we finished our appointments right on time, which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend Cole's (and especially Renee!) to any bride who is looking for a salon for her big day. Cole's is a typical suburban salon. I have been to a bunch of Cole's and they are all pretty much the same, Bumble and Bumble kinds of places. Not that that is bad! It's a lot of soccer mom's getting their highlights here. I pretty much only go here because my friend Ashley works there, but it's still a nice place to get your hair cut or colored. She didn't even match my picture and I would still go here over and over. I went to Brittney with a picture to match for my engagement photos. She didn't really match the picture (she did more curly than wavy), but I loved it just the same. She was adorable too. So easy to talk to and super fun. Plus it was only $30 for a shampoo and style (my regular girl was going to charge me $60, not including tip!). I already booked an appointment with her to do a color touchup. She did a great job on my hair even without matching the picture exactly. It's nice when they can make you love it without matching it. I always go to Teresa Schwab, because I went to her once and my wife was wowed at my haircut, because she tells me how terrible my haircuts look after every single one for years. Now when I go home my wife says - Oh you must have went to the good hair stylist again. I am probably not the best person Coles (or anyone for that matter) wants to see review a salon. I'm just a stupid boy that probably couldn't tell you the real reasons you should come here, just the reasons I come here. Bottom line is I am fairly non-pretentious about my looks (nice way of saying I'm not that good looking but don't care too much) and what hair I have left would probably look just as good to me after walking out of a Great Clips, however, everyone I deal with at Coles is proffessional and I'm treated as important as a bride-to-be that is going to drop $500 there and I appreciate that level of service. I have been seeing the same stylist once every 3-4 week for a few years now. We set up the following appointment at the end of the current appointment and they send me email confirmation the day before. Plus I see the same person everytime so I don't have to articulate what I want done with my hair to someone new everytime, they know what I want, and when I need hair products they take all of the guesswork out of it for me (totally worth the extra money).
