I have long brown curly hair, I booked a micro foil half head appointment in hopes to add a bit of dimension to my curls. The stylist bleached my entire head blonde. I am not a blonde, I never wanted to be blonde, my curls are fried. To their credit they refunded me but this is absolutely atrocious and I will never trust another stylists here to ever touch my hair. I am never coming back and if you have a modicum of respect for your hair you won't subject it to the torture that I put mine through. I'm going to a new salon to reinstate my natural color, hopefully, my curl pattern is permanently ruined until it grows out. I'm beyond disappointed in the lack of skill and competence in the stylists at this salon. Figure it out. I know your cliente is mostly bleach blonde, but if that's all you can do then disclose that. read more

I'll start by saying, I love Spalon... just maybe not this location or maybe I had a one off bad experience. I went to the Edina location to start my girls day out with my sister. We got a couples massage and I had Kristina as my massage therapist. By the way, when I booked the massages I just asked for an hour massage, didn't specify deep tissue, relaxation, etc. Starting off, the experience was fine. Their women's locker room isn't spacious but it has what you need - soft robes, sandals, bathrooms, and showers. You get comfy and relax in the lounge while you wait for your service. This time around, the lounge attendant didn't acknowledge us at all, didn't offer a drink nor the heated neck wrap. It was fine, I brushed it off because our service was in about 8 mins, so didn't have too much time to enjoy. The massage is the reason why this review is only 2 stars. We get called back, and it's a couples massage so me and my sister hear each others convos. My sister's massage therapist was kind and making sure she was comfortable. Mine asked if there were and areas I'd like her to focus on, I said lower back and shoulders. She spent more time on my legs and arms than my back at all. When she was working on my back, I asked about pressure, she said she was doing medium pressure. I requested more pressure, she ignored my request. She didn't respond nor did she change her pressure. Ending the massage, she hands me the glass of water and says.. you'll really want to schedule a massage, you're really tense in your shoulders.. I mean.. isn't that what I just did? Why did her giving me a massage for the last 55 minutes not help my tension in my shoulders? $140 wasted on this massage. Yes, I got to hang out with my sister, but didn't need to spend $140 to do that. The only reason I'm giving this review 2 stars is because it's about Spalon, and not just the massage therapist that I saw. read more

A friend booked us a pedicure appointment at this salon. Cute location at 50th and France with a free parking ramp across the street. It looks like they are a hair, nail and massage place all in one. The pedicure chairs are in their own room and once you are done, you can go relax in the spa back room. The back room has a nice vibe, good lighting and wonderful scent and you can help yourself to water or hot tea. You do have to be quiet, so that was a bit annoying since I was there to catch up with a friend but I get that it is best for those relaxing before/after a massage. The price is a bit much - $83 + tip for a basic 1 hour pedicure. read more

I had a facial with Dee at Spalon Montage (Edina location), and it was truly the best facial I've ever had. From the moment I arrived, she was warm, personable, and welcoming -- instantly putting me at ease. Dee is incredibly knowledgeable and shares helpful information about skincare without ever taking away from the relaxation of the experience. I often have a hard time choosing between a massage and a facial, but with Dee, I got the best of both worlds -- she included a wonderful hand, foot, and neck massage that made the whole treatment feel luxurious and restorative. She also shared some skincare and moisturizing tips I'd never heard before, and I've already noticed a difference. The salon offers a range of services which is convenient as well as a good selection of high end products. All good. The staff is friendly, and they do a great job with my hair. I especially love the chair that turns into a bed for hair washing and the short scalp massage, which is included in the price. The complimentary water, tea, and coffee are also a nice touch. With my busy schedule, I see different stylists and colorists, and they're all excellent. My blondish shade is the best I have ever had so I go to them for several years now, to keep the compliments coming from family and friends. Spalon Montage is in a busy area of Edina but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a shared parking lot which I easily snagged a spot in during the day on a weekday. And, I didn't have to pay extra to park. Winning! Alright, let's get down to business. The salon itself is HUGE and apparently there are hundreds of employees and offer many different types of services. I chose a gel manicure as I needed one badly as a bridesmaid for my friend's destination wedding. I had my nails done with McKenna and she was amazing! Very personable and was patient with me as I struggled to decide what color would match my dress. Ah, first world problems. ;) I loved the color, how she shaped my nails, and the attention to detail to make sure they looked perfect. The gel lasted about 6 days in Mexico (with almost daily pool and ocean dips) before chipping slightly on the edge of my pointer finger. A little sad considering how much the manicure was - 45 without tip. However, I had a gift card - which was a plus! I would definitely come back as a treat or if someone treated me (hint hint, husband!) but not sure if I would dish out $45 for a manicure otherwise. Tips : - get there early, it's a little hard to spot - park in the shared parking lot area - it's complimentary! - be prepared to wave your money goodbye cuz #yolo - 1 star only because of the price. I've gone to Spalon for years but don't plan on returning. I had booked a hair appointment and then an eyebrow wax afterwards and the hair appointment was fine, but the person for my eyebrow wax was over 30 minutes late. I had to go up to the front desk twice and make sure that my appointment wasn't canceled last minute or anything. I totally understand that things happen however 30 minutes is extremely excessive and I received no apology or any explanation either. The people at the front desk were also rude when I politely tried to explain the situation and explicitly stated that I wasn't mad about the tardiness. The real reason for the bad review is the eyebrow wax appointment itself. She rushed through it and got wax on my hair that I literally just got done prior. The only way to remove the wax out of my hair was by putting this terribly smelling product in my hair which she even admitted was disgusting. In the end she didn't even remove all of my grown out eyebrow hair and I had to go home and wash my hair so that product would leave, which ruined the blowout. After talking to their management they offered no compensation or even any acknowledgment of the terrible experience. I would hope that a salon like Spalon would have some standards but it doesn't appear that way. read more

I've been coming to Spalon for years (I've lived in the area for almost 25 years) and I feel like it's really gone downhill. It used to be a really special place and it just isn't anymore. I've had far better nail services at the nearby cheaper nail salons. This review was prompted by my recent (and last) pedicure there. I booked the Urea Luxury Pedicure, which is noted as a 60-minutes service. The therapist was almost 10 minutes late, and I was kicked out of my chair (before the nails had even dried!) at 3:45 - so not 60 minutes, but rather 35 minutes. She told me they needed to prepare for the next appointment at 4:00. There was no leg massage and absolutely nothing "luxury" about it. She just trimmed my toenails and slapped some polish on them. Never again. I can get a far better service at any number of places nearby for at least $20 less. read more

I recently revisited Spalon Montage, having not been there for several years. In the past, it was a true upscale spa experience. This is no longer the case. It looks tired and dated, the woman at the desk in the spa didn't even look up when we came in, nor did she thank us when we left. Adding insult to injury, I paid nearly $600(!!!!) for two 45-minute facials that were supposed to be 75 minutes and were just O.K. Nothing special. AND they were badgering in trying to get us to buy product. I will not be returning. read more

I have been here for so many services, this could get long! Massage-This is amazing! When you arrive they send you back to this area and it automatically takes all the stress away! The locker room is filled with amenities that will get you all set for your massage. Then you come out and can curl up on the leather couches next to the fireplace and sip your tea while you wait for your massage. It is pure bliss! I have been known to return after a massage and just sit there before returning to reality. The massage staff is talented and always does a great job! Nails-The staff is very talented! Their signature pedicure is perfection! They don't use the shaver for callus' growth and always leave with perfect feet! Hair-I have had so many talented stylists over the years! I had 2 massages booked for my friends 40th bday. Shortly before they called to cancel as they were short a masseuse. No apology, no concern, no offer to discount a future treatment or any attempt to rectify our ruined plans except an offer for a facial instead which neither of us wanted. Rude staff and manager. Ruined our plans, my friend came up from Mankato for our spa day for her bday, and they couldn't have cared less. Things happen of course but the way they dealt with the situation was atrocious. Everything from my last review still stands. This is a review solely on the Express Retreat that I had recently. My boyfriend gifted me with a gift card to Spalon Montage for Christmas and I used it for the Express Retreat which included a 55-minute massage, focused manicure, and blow-dry. Holy. Crap. I thought the experience outside the spa area was already amazing, the spa lounge is a whole 'nother experience! It's so warm, cozy, and relaxing. The receptionist showed me to the ladies' locker room where I changed into a robe and slippers. Then when I went to sit down, they offered me a warm neck towel which almost put me to sleep. I could sit in this lounge all day! First up was the massage. Heidi, the masseuse, was so sweet! I appreciated that she asked me what I was expecting from the massage. I told her that I have a lot of tension in my neck as well as some back pain and that was what she focused on for the majority of the massage. I'd have to say that it wasn't the most relaxing massage but she definitely got the tension and knots out and I felt SO good afterwards! Up next was my manicure, in which I had Meme (sp?). I enjoy having my nails painted but absolutely dread doing it myself - mostly because I'm impatient and have very unsteady hands so it always looks like a mess after. However, after Meme finished, my nails looked absolutely beautiful! But because I can't have nice things, I ended up smudging a couple of my nails not even an hour after :( Sorry Meme! Although, it lasted on my nails for almost a week! ...until I had to peel off my bandage (from a cut) which resulted in the nail polish peeling off with it *sigh* Last, was my blow-dry. I only found out after I booked my appointment that I could have selected who I wanted for each service so I was bummed that my favorite stylist Charlie wouldn't be the one to blow-dry my hair. However, I found out that Chee was trained by Charlie, so I knew I could trust her! Just as Charlie said, she was great! It started out with washing my hair in the ah-maaazing massage chair (my favorite part of any hair service). Then, she brought me back to the chair to blow-dry and for once my hair actually had some volume! Miracle! Overall, AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Not safe. I had massage and halfway through learned that masseuse was not vaccinated. She had mask but no facemask and apparently no plans to get vaccine (this is June 2021!!). I'm old and am worried about being so exposed to an unvaccinated person in such as small room for an hour. At end I told her the massage was excellent. Then said that I'd had hundreds of massages, and this was first time I wasn't tipping and it was because there was no excuse for her to not be vaccinated, let alone for her to not be wearing a face shield (in addition to mask) when she wasn't. She said "that's your opinion" and to tell the front desk, which I did as well as telling them that they are within their rights to require employees to be vaccinated when they have such close contact with clients. read more

This was my first time getting my hair done here. They have a really cute waiting area with plenty of natural light shining in and help-yourself coffee and water. I do agree with some other reviews that you are pretty close to the other chairs at each persons booth. You will probably end up chatting with the other person getting their hair done next to you, or awkwardly just listen to their conversations. That didn't bother me though, make new friends people. I got a little extra treatment while there. Some of the shower chairs have back massagers on them, it was amazing. I also got a weighted, heated, pillow thing to put on my lap to relax me even more. I toured the spa and wow, it was so peaceful. I'll have to try it next time. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. Went in for a full balayage the color looked fine at the salon until I got home and realized my roots were very orange with blotchy spots underneath. I went back in the next day to have the stylist fix it and left with it looking the same. For $300 I should love my hair not hate it. Very overpriced for stylists that are undertrained. I will not be going back. I ended up calling a manager today who was very concerned and helpful. She offered me a refund for the color service. read more

I needed an updo for a wedding same-day. Spalon fit me in and Ray was my stylist. I honestly wasn't sure what I wanted exactly done because my hair is long and fine. I showed Ray a few pictures online of some styles I would like, and she went to work right away. She pinned my hair up neatly and gave me amazing volume! She worked carefully, but I wasn't sitting super long, either. Best part was that my hair stayed in place through the wind and rain of the day! What a professional. I was very disapponted with the way they handled a perm treatment. My child went in and I paid $150 for a perm and the result was no different than when they went in. Spalon refused to do another service to correct the outcome, even at a discounted rate. They have lost my business. Unacceptable at that premium price. read more

Sure, their salon is beautiful & clean - and I know this because the last time I was there...I had ample time to stare at their beautiful & clean salon while I was waiting to get noticed by one of the front desk staff... Beautiful & clean isn't that big of a draw for me. I like good customer service (no matter what type of clothes I am wearing), I like creative stylists who actually care about what I want my hair to look like (is this too much to ask for?). ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. 2 stylists destroyed my hair in one day. They are so overbooked, they just rush through everything and do a crappy job. I came in for a full foil and the stylist said she would give me a partial with a toner. Not what I asked for, but okay. I've been having my hair highlighted every few months for 12 years and I have NEVER been pushed out of an appointment that quick, and it showed! I asked for thin, well-blended highlights, and ended up with thick chunky bleach streaks that were so far from my roots that they already looked like they needed to be touched up! Came back an hour later to have someone else fix it and I asked if she could put in low lights or another shade of blonde to break up the thick chunks of blonde and she said "no", so instead, she put MORE BLEACH on top of the other bleach! Now, instead of a natural looking full foil like I asked for, I have silver-white hair on the top half of my head, and dark strawberry-blonde on the bottom half. I look like a cheap hooker and I can't afford to go to a different salon and pay another $100 to have someone else fix what they did. I'll be wearing a hat for 3 months now. Fabulous. read more

But, today I'm writing about my hair stylist, Stephanie. It's weird to say I have a stylist, since I rarely do much with my hair and I tend to get it cut about 2-3 times a year. But the last few times I have cut it I've gone to her. Somehow she's become my go-to girl. I think it's because she's mellow, honest, and good at what she does. She shares her opinion but isn't bossy. She doesn't freak about me not having any clue what I want done with my hair or what color I want to be. You could say I've grown to trust her. And considering I've never gone to someone 3 times in a row before her, I guess that's saying alot. read more

Not sure why I have waited to long to share my love for this place! I have gone here since college and anytime I have strayed, I have been left disappointed (and with some terrible looking hair). My stylist, Dione, is amazing. I receive compliments time after time on my hair and I absolutely love her work. Yeah, it's expensive, but well worth it. I probably spend more on my hair than on my car in any given year, so I don't mind the investment. All of the different trends that I have gone through over the years have been successfully executed by this blond bombshell. Ombres, highlights, low-lights, all over color, she does it and does it well. I am aware that the salon invests in furthering education for all of their stylists so that they are up on the latest trends. I think that is awesome and puts me at ease that they know how to execute on what I am asking for. I have sent several friends and coworkers and all have come back incredibly happy. I have also had my hair cut by several of the stylists there (Becca, Suzy, Amir) and have had amazing results. Amir may have given me the best blowout of my life. I seriously felt like a Pantene model walking out of there. Gotta love that. Jacqueline had been my aestheticians for quite a while and does an amazing job. I have had her do both facials and waxing and I only stopped seeing her because I needed to cut back on my spending and started tweezing myself (oh, the horror!). At any rate, when I want to spoil myself with a facial, I know who to call. The salon itself recently went through a huge makeover and I love the look (and the massaging chairs at the shampoo bowl!). I will say that while the remodel is amazing, they have started to accumulate a lot of gifty type things that are scattered EVERYWHERE which I feel cheapens the aesthetic. Oh my god, I had the best day here ever. I went here with my sisters and mother a week before my sister's wedding. We each had the full shebang...facial, massage, lunch, mani/pedi, hairstyle. I'm a regular spa-goer in San Francisco and I have to say that Spalon rivaled San Francisco spas in every way. The services were great. I saw the effects of my facial for awhile, got turned on to a great new product line, and got some good advice. The massage and mani/pedis were also great. Wonderful, friendly people, yummy lunch. Here's the thing that I love, though...the relaxation room was dark and lovely with comfy overstuffed furniture, snacks, coffe/tea and water. I could have stayed there all day (wait! I did). I have been getting my nails done for over 10 years so to say I have been everywhere is a pretty legitimate statement. That is until I found Gow at Spalon! She is beyond amazing at gel nails and shellac. I have been going to her for at least 2 years now and every time I get my nails done I get compliments from numerous woman asking where I get them done. I am very picky as I have a french manicure and it's very easy for that to look cheap, or the tips too large etc. She constantly makes them looks flawless and on top of that is very personable and I always have a great time there. Not only are nails technicians great at Spalon so are their other services. I have had eyebrow waxing and facials from numerous of the ladies and have never left unsatisfied. I would come here for everything except hair. The spa is absolutely wonderful and inviting. Whether it's an eyebrow wax, massage, or pedicure, I've always left feeling great. There was a time when I had to substitute my colorist with another woman working there. This was a negative experience for me as she handed me a brush and told me to brush out my own hair in an annoyed tone so that she could go and mix color. Also, she had a colleague with her at the wash bowl that was monitoring my color that was developing and it gave me anxiety that she didn't know what she was doing.
