She does a great job of listening to what I need, understanding the complexities of my hair, and executing a haircut that I LOVE. The salon overall is also lovely! It's a beautiful space, they throw fun events, and it has a designated parking lot (score!!). Their online scheduling tool is really easy to use, and they carry great product lines (but aren't pushy about them). Honestly, one of the best things about Gem is that Revival is across the street! My experience was disappointing from beginning to end. The first stylist didn't take the time to communicate clearly about my haircut or make sure we were on the same page. I left with a haircut I wasn't happy with and feeling like the experience itself wasn't important. After contacting the salon, I met with the owner for a consultation. While she made some adjustments, the entire appointment was awkward. She barely spoke, so I found myself trying to carry the conversation just to break the silence. She didn't seem interested in building any rapport or making me feel comfortable. Near the end, she interrupted me while I was still talking, ended the appointment, and sent me on my way. I left feeling dismissed rather than cared for. The salon advertises itself as welcoming and experienced with diverse hair types, but my experience didn't reflect that level of customer care. I never felt listened to, valued, or genuinely welcomed. Every interaction felt like an obligation instead of someone who enjoys their work and wants clients to come back. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I think people should know that customer service here was just as disappointing as the haircut. I have been a repeat customer, but be warned if you are a busy bee Because I have experienced skilled service for my hair and have felt more comfortable here with my hair as a Latina than in other locations. *BUT PROCEED WITH CAUTION!! Unfortunately my concern is regarding their communication and strict policy. They would rather loose me as a future customer than help find a middle ground of a missed appointment that I tried to call the office for. Their booking service had an outdated number associated to it, so I didn't receive any communications with them. I hate to have to do this but if this is how a repeat customer is ignored and treated then it's just actually unfortunate. They took my money, which is expensive. I cannot and I don't any one really can afford an expensive hair appointment and receive no service. People budget for these things because yes they have people with skills and it's expensive! I am stuck in need of hair service. Without any regard. Just a rigid cold - rely on policy vibe, as in they disassociate with what they are saying because it's not right. And act with toxic positivity. Policy is NOT law binding. I will be disputing with my bank and considering further actions. As they even have a voicemail from me they never returned. I called them 4 times. And spoke to someone 1 time who couldn't assist me in any way as she was the register/ host and no one was available to be actual help. I didn't miss my appointment they ignored me. So yeah. Sorry but just a heads up out there- if you have kids or a family situation or work that might change your schedule unexpectedly due to, for me, a court date was set. Don't book as schedule may change and they will not care about taking 100 percent of price for nothing all because life is life and policy is just a pretend word to act like and/or hide behind. read more

I just went in for a haircut with Abagail and I couldn't be happier! I'm from out of town and desperately needed a cut on a short notice and I lucked out big time stumbling on Abagail. She was super nice and attentive and had a magical touch!! . She gave me the exact haircut I wanted and made it look even better than in the picture I showed her. She is very delicate with hair and scalp and almost made it feel like a massage. It was incredible! She was friendly and able to keep a nice, stress free conversation but also gave me my space when I needed to check on work texts and emails. The front desk staff was also lovely and kind and the space was bright, sunny, beautifully designed and comfortable. The people who were there the last time I reviewed are no longer there. I said I wanted a consultation I got one with two young women who told me they could do everything that I wanted. When we actually had the appointment they were nice it seemed fun but my hair did not look good. Where I had asked for silver streaks I got washed out blond. The red honestly just looked dingy. the person who is cutting my hair started to use a razor. I have curly hair if you use a razor you're going to frizz my hair. I still at this point have a frizzy point in the back of my hair where I said wait stop are using a razor. The worst part about this is it was over $200 to get a bad haircut and a bad dye. I hate the gym salon is not the place that I love to go, I hate they have changed their quality this much. I would not recommend you go there ever. read more

You'll get hair worth paying for with a visit to 526. I'm not one to shell out for getting my hair done for special occasions. I have had friends do a satisfactory job of styling for formal events, and I'm not too shabby with making my hair look decent on other days. But recently I needed my hair to look swanky in an updo and STAT! The staff at 526 squeezed me in at the last minute and took my baby fine strands into a chic updo that even I was happy with. My friends oohed and aahed over how beautiful it looked, and even I was pretty impressed at how full and elegant my coiffure was after 526 got ahold of it. Pricey, but definitely worth it given the occasion I was attending. I did my own makeup, but the work they did on my friends was elegant, tasteful, and lasted a full day, crazy dancing at the end of the night included. I've been searching and searching the twin cities metro for a new hair stylist after my previous one moved to the other side of the country :( I've literally been trying a new place every few months for the past year and a half. I've been to places in Uptown, in Wayzata, in Edina, in St. Paul. I've paid a lot of money and barley any money. And then, finally, I tried Fivetwosix. I called for an appointment and explained my situation (I had very long hair and was looking to get almost 10 inches taken off) and the receptionist recommended Greta. The actual salon is in a great location and has a really cool vibe and decor. I was offered water, tea, or coffee as I waited in the comfortable waiting room. After Greta picked me up she even offered me wine! It was a weekday and I had homework to do later that night so I declined, but I will definitely keep that in mind for future visits! Greta did a GREAT job with my hair. She explained what she was doing and made sure I was comfortable with it and was willing to talk with me beforehand about what I wanted and went over everything and really made me feel like we were on the same page. She was also very sweet and talkative which was nice because I'm sometimes a little shy, but I hate awkward silence haircuts! After my cut she styled my hair for me and even took the extra time to show me a few ways I could wear my hair in a ponytail while still making it look cute! I had told her i was always putting it up while at school and at work. As a plus, FIVETWOSIX has Bumble and Bumble products, which are my favorite! Greta also made some great product recommendations for getting the look I wanted for my hair and even showed me how to use it in my hair during the styling. Overall, my experience here was top-notch. I am confused, did no one else get free wine AND a free full-sized Bumble and Bumble product their first visit!? Surely, you would have noted this, too! I came to Fivetwosix via a referral. My friend said, " they have wine, free products and a $25 haircut." Need I say more? I walked in and was greeted by front desk members and my stylist! Hang on...they greet you and take your coat and you don't need to waste time hanging around while they run behind? Liking this more! the space was very clean and the atmosphere was sophisticated chic. My stylist, Greta, did a great consult and walked me through exactly how much she was going to take off and also asked a few other mindful questions. Great cut and blow-dry and she did a great job of walking me through the products she was using. When she came to style it, she asked me how I wanted it done. I guess I have been so used to people jut doing what they felt they should, that it was a welcomed surprise to actually be asked how I wanted my hair to look when I walked out (which is kind of a bummer when you think about it!) I came here on a whim last Saturday desperately needing a haircut. I was fortunate enough to get an appointment with Natalie. She was attentive, confident, and listened to every word I said. She knew what to do with my thick and wavy hair, as she has thick hair herself. I absolutely love my haircut and it's super easy to style many ways. It's not one of those haircut styles that only looks good curled. She really worked with the natural texture and shape of my hair, which is so important as I wear my hair natural a lot of the time. What turns a good day into a great day? A good hair day. I made an impromptu appointment at FIVETWOSIX after noticing the place during a lunch outing at Cheeky Monkey across the street. I made an appointment an afternoon that I was in a bit of a time crunch - between work and a dinner date. I was pleasantly greeted upon arrival and was immediately taken by the trendy (without trying too hard) ambiance. Angela, my stylist, picked me up from the waiting area and brought me over to her chair. I'm always a little apprehensive when trying a new stylist- what if they don't know enough about my hair? But Angela was clearly a pro. We spent a few minutes discussing the type of cut that I desired (assisted by the photos I brought along), but then things got intimate. She asked me a series of questions about my hair type, styling, prep time and products. "Let's talk about hair baby, let's talk about you and me..." The sink stations were very comfortable and you're offered a scalp massage during the conditioner- just what I needed to unwind. I was then offered a glass of wine (squeal!!!!). A hair cut and a glass of wine? My experience just kept getting better. I got a cut that I LOVED and Angela narrated how to use the products to achieve my desired style as she blow dried and curled. You know its a great haircut when you can recreate the styling yourself at home and you're complimented on your new look for a week straight. I'd highly recommend FIVETWOSIX and Angela to anyone shopping for a new salon. I've been going to Fivetwosix Salon for about a year now, and have worked with both Jennifer (stylist) and Alicia (esthetician) and have found them both to be superb. The business is well run, the front desk folks are efficient and as attentive as can be expected with so much else going on, and the space is hip and trendy (if that matters to you). I was not outrageously impressed by their reflexologist, though I have only done a single session so far. It was a perfectly competent session and all, just didn't wow me. Parking is never a problem on the side streets and I have never had to walk more than a block or two. read more

I came in for a facial 9-14-18. From the moment I walked in I experienced great customer service. The treatment room was so pretty and relaxing. They had a heated bed and whatever the aroma in the room was, was enough to just make you go to your happy place. Briana had a fantastic touch and had great knowledge of what was going to be good for my skin. To top it off.... I LOVED the skin care line. This salon is phenomenal! Period. I have been to over 5 salons in the past year around the twin cities and seen multiple stylists and have been unhappy with every one. I tracked down Amir because he did my hair a few years ago and no one has compared since. He cuts my hair exactly they way I want, even when I don't know what I want. I'm getting married in a week and came with hair that needed incredible attention. The colors were so messed up from other stylists trying to do something different. Amir completely changed my hair and got it back to the the natural color and tones!!!! I'm thrilled. NOTHING has compared to the service and personal attention that is given at FIVETWOSIX and by Amir. This salon is so generous in the attention given to their clients and I feel very taken care of. My first time here was probably in 2005 or 2006 when I was sixteen years old. My red curly hair had frequently being massacred by the weird cheap places my mom would take me as a kid, so this was the first big girl appointment I made on my own. Ten years later I still come back. This was the first good haircut I ever got. The stylists kind of come and go so I can't recommend anyone in particular however I've never had a bad cut. The building is awesome and really beautiful inside. They have the art gallery aspect and the facility is just very clean and hip. I feel like they do a good job of training and hiring so you can't really go wrong. I also love that they use bumble &bumble. I definitely recommend coming here for a great haircut. read more
